#122 - 24-Hour Races are Bullshit

Stewart escaped Meriden! We can finally hear all about this race that has been over a year in the making. Good news, it was miserable. Amy's been taking advantage of her car-based freedom by going to one single new place over and over again, and still can't pronounce names.

#121 - Walking is Bullshit

Just one more episode until Meriden so we're getting into the best bits of any race, the map, the plan and the admin! We've also got some great ultra food ideas from our listeners which are uncharacteristically helpful. Seriously? FIVE years? Of this? Weird. We go back to our roots for this episode by interviewing a couple of people that we know, but one of them did the Dragon's Back Race, so that's pretty cool. There's also some nostalgia for how shit we were at the beginning, stories about actual shit, shit singing, and someone at a race who was a shit (allegedly).

Well, there's no race report as expected so it's over to you for some of your gripes, moans and outright petty bitchiness about other people's running. Amy tells us all about what she's learnt from running nearly 5 ultras and Stu has once again gone to too much effort to record another song.

#110 - Back Injuries are Bullshit

Amy goes off-script, but staying on-script isn't exactly straightforward either. Stu wangs on about moving house, and while we haven't won anything we've been near people who have. We also reaffirm our support for trans runners, and all our LGBT+ friends going about their lives hoping the Daily fucking Mail doesn't turn up and start harassing you.

What do you want before a race to really get you in the mood? A banging tune, an anthem... opera? We talk about some very dodgy options as well as race reports which perfectly personify our individual styles. A chill ultra for Amy and two super intense 1 mile races for Stu. Also some of the stupidest and worst bullshit running news we've had for a while.

#108 - Nipples are Still Bullshit

What a load of bollocks! A strong start for this episode as we finally break the taboo on talking balls. Should your dog's instagram be first person? Is Garmin trying to cancel us? Should Stu blow his money on a coach? All of these questions and more left vague and unanswered as you might expect. Please look after your nipples though lads.

We've both done a race, and they couldn't have been much more different! If you like it hard or you like it slow, you're in the right place. We also deliver a lot of good advice to race organisers using our vast knowledge of how to put on a race, as well as chat on medals, squirrels both in the head and in the hand, Michael Flatley and how to steal a toilet.

There was a horse incident, but we lived to tell the tale. Stu almost didn't live to tell the tale of his race, and Amy nearly got stuck in the Brecon Beacons. Just normal running stuff, right? We're knackered but still manage to wang on for over an hour about running being stupid and hard and stupid.

"I don't like it" is a strong theme for this episode as we get annoyed about things that no one else cares about. Amy went on holiday, Pippin went on an adventure, Stu ran in circles. It seems race photos are a hot topic and everyone has an opinion! But are they bullshit or not. The answer is, inevitably, more complicated than that. We speculate on better sponsors for the London marathon based purely on how fun they are to say, Amy doesn't run an ultra, we read our favourite email ever, mock some shoes and talk about poo. Oh, and Stu ran a marathon.

#74 - Recording Live is Bullshit

Recorded in front of a live studio (cafe) audience in Cardiff! We speak to Rhys Jenkins, Jimmy Watkins, and Dr Nicky Genders about running the length of the UK, running sober, and not running at all. There's the usual references to dogs and tea, and the audience were even kind enough to laugh occasionally. Amy apparently doesn't know the difference between any of our listeners and Stewart has done maths.

#73 - Prostate Cancer is Bullshit with Tim Beynon

Our guest Tim has written a book about his experience with prostate cancer, and we ask him weird questions that he didn't expect, but eventually find our way back to the subject at hand! Recording on the day of the London marathon inspires us to half-watch it on TV and potentially reconsider the virtual race, but still not actually make us want to to enter it. Stewart has done a stupid race and has a secret weapon up his sleeve, or in his shorts. Amy hurts and is seriously questioning her life decisions. There are dog interruptions, but not the ones we'd usually expect.

We did another long run together, so there's plenty of standard long run and training chat. Stu has an illness or an injury or both, and Amy uses the phrases "gym journey" with an entirely straight face. We also talk about periods again, Olympic marathon stuff and how to trick runners into being slow.

We speak to the author of Run Like Duck and Ducking Long Way Mark Atkinson about ultras, ducks and just how easily led he is. Amy becomes a run leader and rescues a kitten, Stu did TWO races with extremely mixed results and we both fell over.

Our guest is founder of the Badass Lady Gang, coach, and self-styled President of the 'I hate running club' Kelly Roberts. 'Friend of the birds' Amy and 'cheat stick running wanker' Stewart are literally two of the greatest runners in the world, it is official. We regale a legendary tale of running to a place we didn't really want to go to, and the ballache of getting home again. Basic adulting, insulting listeners, throwing a party for your shoes, making Amy feel ill, dodgy burritos, and Crocs.

#65 - Hot Weather is Bullshit

Amy and Stewart have both been out on recces, which is a like a pre-brag to say "check out the run I'm going to do, it's so long it needs recce-ing first." We actually run together for most of a day to reach a statue we've no real interest in. Also discussed is wiping your nose really fast, how to kill a sheep, hit you with some hot ultra stats and wonder why anyone would buy Frankenstein shoes.

We speak to Sanna Duthie about smashing the Pembrokeshire Coast Path record, sandwiches, dogs, and hallucinating. Stewart and Amy discuss periods interrupting training, coccyx pain, the wrong socks, and we play our first quiz: Bullshit or Bullshit? Which, of course, we immediately fuck up. As races, run clubs and parkruns look like they're starting to return, we decide to be grumpy about it and talk about all the things we're not looking forward to. Amy finally learns what's been holding her back all these years and threatens to unleash a whirlwind on the running world.

We reveal Amy is an elite Myspace hacker and Stewart gives some valuable sex education advice, which is exactly what you would expect on what is, in theory, a running podcast.

We're pretty straight to the point in this week's title, and it's a horribly evergreen story for us to discuss. We also have dog rants, a smattering of LGBT running history, the all-important Nicky Genders Update, a bone necklace, the Amy Genders Gender Agenda, the saddest dog story you ever did hear, and we make a child cry. We want to know about other LGBT running icons, and the weirdest thing you've ever found on a run.

Amy finally cracks and starts snitching on anyone she sees, while Stu just has a long sit down after a birthday banter ultra and wonders if "to see how hard it is" is actually a good reason. The Nicky Genders update will give you a new earworm and Amy's singing lessons are really starting to pay off! In which we blame the universe for our failings, insult yet another part of the world, and name the Christmas calorie shitlist. Amy also declares her allegiance to Market Harborough in a race recommendation with the potential to create a whole new rivalry. Our guest is Badass Mother Runner Bev Logan, who gives us a great frank account about how she set up a business based on being a badass and is now selling merch around the world and inspiring women everywhere. Our guest might be known as The Happy Runner, but don't you worry as we'll talk about barefoot running, hallucinating and chafing. Amy has the weirdest, sort of funny, injury, proves cross-training is bullshit and has just had a terrible run. Stu is furious someone unknowingly ruined his secret plan, stars in a romcom with a listener, and has just had a brilliant run. We also bring you the results of the Wish running gear challenge, and it's a close one!

Our challenge for this week was to kit ourselves out for as little money as possible from the online store Wish. The results are, to be reasonably expected, mixed. Amy updates us on her dogs wee habits, her mum's travels, and rants about tea. Stu teases his mystery challenge, further insults listeners, and raps. Don't eat the communal vaseline!

Our 50th episode and there is yet more chat about tea and dog interruptions. Amy ponders alfresco testicles, we cringe over sexism in cross country AGAIN, and discuss blisters and whether there really is a worst place to get one. We speak to Peter Gillibrand, Liz Rees, and Sam Wright who each completed their own virtual London marathons, and endured wind, rain and chafing. Oh, and Amy did a marathon.

We try to start by talking about running, but Amy's dog throws up just before we start recording so there's dog action straight from the beginning. Stu's also drinking cider, so we're bound to have a slightly fraught recording. We reveal the winner of last week's competition, and hear the tale of the Great Fall of 2020, a classic Amy Story. We also mock our listeners, give cow advice, and talk about Chariots of Fire and Personal Best, or as we know them: "the Brideshead Revisited of running" and "female Top Gun". You may know by now that we quite like the Wales Coast Path, so we're chatting to Rhys Jenkins (again) as he's just run the whole thing quicker than anyone else! There's a big dog update too as Stu has done a canicross run once and has planned the rest of the year based on racing those. Even Amy's been out with her naughty beagle, who makes an brief adorable appearance.
