How We Approach Money with Rachel Cruze
Money. It’s a topic that makes us squirm. But why? Money itself is neutral. The problem is when it becomes an idol or when we look to it to afford us a certain lifestyle. But the truth is, money has a subtle way of captivating our hearts. We need to be mindful of how we’re relating to it! We go to Scripture to find counsel in how to handle our money in a way that glorifies God. We are also joined by Rachel Cruz who offers us practical tips on how we should approach our money. Theology in Practice with K.A. Ellis
On today’s episode of the Journeywomen podcast, we’re chatting with K.A. Ellis about what it means to put what we’ve learned in our current series, Journeywomen Goes to Seminary, into practice! In this episode, she reminds us that our ultimate goal is simply to know and love God more. K.A. Ellis is the Director of the Edmiston Center for the Study of the Bible and Ethnicity in Atlanta, Georgia. She's passionate about theology, human rights, and global religious freedom. Since 2006, it's been her pleasure to collaborate with the Swiss-based organization, International Christian Response, traveling internationally to connect local and global Christians while studying and advocating for global religious freedom. Her research explores Christian endurance from society's margins, particularly in places where it's most difficult to live the Christian life. Mrs. Ellis is the Cannada Fellow for World Christianity at Reformed Theological Seminary. She holds a Master of Art in Religion (MAR Theological) from Westminster Theological Seminary, a Master of Fine Art (MFA) from the Yale School of Drama, and is a Ph.D. candidate in World Christianity and Ethics at the Oxford Center for Mission Studies in England. EP. 26: Big Decisions and Crossroads
It’s estimated that the average adult makes about 35,000 decisions each day. But what happens when one of those decisions is life changing? Decisions like where to go to college or whether to move across the country for a job. What are some of the decisions you’re facing right now? In this episode of God Hears Her, Eryn and Elisa chat about ways in which they have learned to hear God’s voice and follow where He leads. Notes and Quotes: * “There are times when we come to a crossroads moment to make a decision and we get wrapped up in the thought that our desires and God’s desires could never align.” * “It really boils down to ‘Is my heart aligned with God’s? And am I seeking Him? Am I listening to Him?’’’ * “God does grow us through the really difficult times in life.” * “When we are at that crossroads; we can choose for God and with God. It’s a ‘we’ experience at that crossroads.” * “When we’re in a ‘we’ with God, His spirit directs us. His being woos us onto the right choice with Him.” * “We do our best and we yield the results to Him for what might happen.” * “It is so important to have a really small group of close friends that you can let in to the choices you are making and that can speak in, like mentors.” * “Crossroads are really a place of living. They’re a continual place of being, of dwelling.” Links/Books/Resources Mentioned In Show: * Show Notes on godhearsher.org * God Hears Her website: https://www.godhearsher.org/ * Subscribe on iTunes! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/god-hears-her-podcast/id1511046507?utm_source=applemusic&utm_medium=godhearsher&utm_campaign=podcast * Order God Sees Her: 365 Devotions for Women by Women on Amazon. https://amzn.to/32lYSgh * Free eBooklet to Download: Making Decisions God’s Way: https://discoveryseries.org/courses/making-decisions-gods-way/ * Elisa’s Instagram: elisamorganauthor * Eryn’s Instagram: eryneddy Verses Mentioned in Show: * Proverbs 16:9 NIV “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.” https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A9&version=NIV * John 15:16 NIV “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+15%3A16&version=NIV * Jeremiah 6:16 NIV: “This is what the LORD says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. Safe Conversations :: Harville Hendrix and Helen Hunt [Ep 309]
Harville Hendrix, PhD and his wife Helen Hunt, PhD have been helping couples for years as therapists, authors and speakers. They are on a mission to share the concepts of safe conversations with the world. They join me to share how their method can help us have more effective in-depth conversations with our spouse and children. This works every time. It works with parents, with children and couples. It is something that we now know scientifically that if you mirror another person back accurately and with warmth and no judgment, something will happen inside of them. Something marvelous. They model a safe conversation for us and offer a lot of encouragement and hope for couples who are struggling and how “Conflict is future growth waiting to happen.” Harville and Helen have an amazing offer for DMA listeners. Use code DMA on their site at safeconversations.com to get 50% off your choice of SC Essentials or the Ultimate Couples Bundle, both courses will receive free tickets to a live workshop of your choice, a $196 value.
