It should be a wake-up call for us all, I am not speaking of the political ramifications, but for our business.
The spectre of potential de-platforming looks above us all.

The Hardest Thing - GM49
We are back! Relaunching a podcast is a hard thing to do. It is like getting back to the gym after you have been away for a while. All the same guilt, disappointment in yourself for letting it slide. The anxiety that you have hard work ahead of you, and fear that you may let yourself down again. So with a great deal of humility, I am sheepishly coming back to the gym, a few pounds heavier, a bit tentative, but determined to make it a habit once again. This week I take the opportunity to reinforce the mission of this podcast, and my hopes for the community as we try and put 2020 in the rearview mirror.

Transparency and Trust - GM48
The one thing I struggle with to this day in the online marketing world is the sales process. The techniques which we can and do use to sell our products or services.
So much research has gone into "crafting the perfect offer". In some cases, online marketers spend more time on the sales pitch that they do on the product they are selling, and that offends me.
I have thin skin when it comes to online ethics.
This week I break down our current project as wee are preparing to take the sales offer to the public. I look behind the scenes at a product launch and the decision-making process we are going through to best strike a balance between effective and manipulative sales.

Failing Forward - GM30
Baby Boomers have been trained from the time they were born to fight failure. As children we were punished, sometimes severely for failing, it has been anathema to our generation.
Failing is not such a bad thing in many Millenials opinion.
"If you aren't failing you aren't trying"
They believe we learn from failure and it is a natural part of our journey. Even to the pont of encouraging each other to embrace failure as a step forward, a positive outcome, necessary to reach our goals.
Heady stuff! And for many of my generation, passing strange.
But there is wisdom here, real value, I am entranced by the concept of "Failing Forward"

Leaning into your Strengths - GM29
We have all been in business long enough to know that we are good at some things and not good at others. But there seems to be a “badge of honor” amongst entrepreneurs that we do it all ourselves.
While that might salve the ego, in practice it is a bad idea!
I know that one of my challenges is shared by many entrepreneurs, a reluctance to delegate tasks that can easily be accomplished by others.
This may be one of the biggest roadblocks to success.
Adding outsourced talent to your team, in the form of Virtual Assistants, or contractors will free the principal up to do the things that only they can do, if they actually let go of some control.
Trusting team members to take tasks off your plate will make a marked difference in not just your profitability, but your energy.

Rapid Prototyping a Digital Course - GM 21
Today on Grey Matters I am going to share one of my genius ideas for rapid prototyping an online course.
You can deliver a course in days instead of months.
I have used this system to create more than 10 online courses and list builders. The most important part of the system is the Webinar Delivery, which encourages questions which we use to fill in any important missing content from the curriculum.
Steps:
1 Create a Slide Show (course content)
2 Record Screencast of presentation
3 Upload Video to Online service
4 Host Webinar delivering content
5 Host Q&A in the webinar to flesh out the course content
6 Create supporting content based on Q&A
7 Host resulting content in LMS (Thinkific)

Are we really the sum of the 5 people we spend the most time with?
It sounds great, but I don't agree 100% with the idea, BUT I do believe we need to surround ourselves with those who are smarter, than us, different than us those who can lift us up and challenge and support us.
We also need to surround ourselves with mentors, those who can help mold us into more successful entrepreneurs, and that applies to ALL of us, regardless of age and experience.
Where do you find those people? That is a challenge, especially for those of us re-inventing ourselves.
I found my new inner circle when I attended some live conferences. The networking opportunities at these conferences far surpass the actual content shared in each one!

I am certain that many of us are reluctant to enter the world of online marketing because if negative experiences we have had in the past when we felt we were being "hustled" by unethical online marketers. Essentially it has soured us to the whole concept.
That is a shame because the online space needs more marketers and content creators concerned with being ethical, and setting a good example.

I would be lying if I told you that Content Marketing was a guaranteed path to riches.
It took me over 2 years of being a full time content creator before I was able to look at my income and feel some sense of security.
Is that representative of what you may experience, can you do it in a shorter time or will it take longer?
