EP 119: Skipping High School, Imitating the Best People & Other Foreign Concepts with Andrew Pudewa
Reflecting on this conversation, I realized almost every point Andrew hit on turned the opposite direction culture and systems within it tell us to. I found myself thinking sarcastically, “well that’s a foreign concept!” Lower income inspiring creativity, sacrifice to live out your values, the benefit of a large family, ‘skipping’ high school, waiting until kids are developmentally ready instead of pushing academic milestones early, imitating the best people you can find and expressing ideas instead of yourself… it’s all the opposite of what we are told to do but exactly what we all need to hear. EP 102: Denied a Transplant with Jenna Riley & Rita shares her recent personal experience with transplant teams
Jenna Riley's father needs a kidney transplant and she has selflessly offered to be a living donor for him. The good news is she is a match. The bad news is the hospital has refused to give him a transplant unless he falls in line with the Covid shot(s). It gets even harder to make sense of the hospital's demand of adherence to this extremely broad non-individualized protocol as she tells their story, gives us his background and recent other major surgeries at the same hospital.
Cecily and I then discuss further, adding in my (Rita's) recent experience with the Barnes and Northwestern transplant teams as my father in law was a lung recipient exactly a year ago. Make no mistake, the care my father in law received and the ability of the Northwestern staff to work together was wonderful, however its the losing of the mind when it came to Covid specifically that cannot be overlooked. Complete lunacy and loss of ability to think.

We want liberty & less government overreach... unless that overreach comes in a package we tend to agree with? Two Idaho politicians have introduced legislation to make giving an mRNA vaccine a misdemeanor. I polled my audience where more were for this legislation than against. Let's set aside our feelings about the vaccine and evaluate what a law like this actually means. What does this open the door for when people we disagree with are legislating? Finally I discuss the PRIDE issue in healthcare administration’s inability to admit their mistakes, which is further harming their staffing and share their solution... you may or may not be surprised at the literal lengths they are going to get staff.

The tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, has broken hearts and further shaken a population in turmoil.
This is a delicate topic and we did our best to examine as many sides of it as we could. We discuss the actual event, the timeline, and the emergency response.
We also discuss some of the proposed solutions, such as gun control, social emotional learning and secure classrooms.

EPISODE 59: Ministry of Truth and Covid Jail
In the first half of this episode, we talk about the Disinformation Governance Board... perhaps better known as The Ministry of Truth. ;) What does it mean to give control over what is true and false or right and wrong to a board of arbitrarily appointed people? We also talk about bill C-11 in Canada, which also has many reasons for us to be wary.
At the back half of the episode, we interview Mason, a Shanghai resident who recently got out of what he calls ”Covid Jail.” Mason and his girlfriend were forced to go to a Covid quarantine camp, and he tells us the full story.
Shanghai may seem far off, but it is incredibly relevant. Mason mentions that what’s happening in Shanghai is the consequence of an overly compliant society. As we here in North America face things like the Disinformation Governance Board, we would be well served to keep that timely warning in mind.

RaDonda Vaught, a Vanderbilt nurse, made a fatal med error. She has now lost her license and been charged with negligent homicide. But the story doesn’t end there.
Kati Kleber of FreshRN.com and I discuss the timeline, the charges and answer the question: “could this happen to anyone?”.
We also discuss very interesting “politics” of the case. Who is the DA and what is his affiliation to Vanderbilt... to RaDonda’s defense attorney? Why did the hospital initially list “natural causes” on the patient’s death certificate?
This is much deeper than a conclusion of guilty or innocent. It’s a picture of inconsistency, corruption in healthcare, and has the potential to set precedent changing not only how nurses practice but overall willingness to take the risk of working at the bedside.

Beware of normal. What even is ”normal?” Well, it seems that the past weeks have brought a reprieve from masking and mandates, and we’re getting a taste of what life was like pre-2020.
We should be celebrating, right? Or, perhaps, now is not the time to grow complacent. Perhaps now is the time to look at ”normal” with a degree of skepticism and wisdom, and to instead intentionally pursue truth and faithful living.

EPISODE 33: What Are We Doing?
When we quiet all the talking points, sound bites, and repetitive phrases, when we look at what is actually happening around us, just the facts, it begs the question: WHAT ARE WE DOING?
When we break down the reality of recent and even long term data, is it rational to be making every waking decision based on this one “thing”?
I walk through the numbers, covering some all encompassing stats spanning the entirety of the pandemic and the more recent staff stats from my hospital. How many staff members are actually out from work due to testing positive? What percentage of those staff members are fully vaccinated?
I then run down the full sequence of events. Regardless of what they call it, I did not resign, I was fired from my job where I was a cardiovascular ICU nurse for over 15 years.
