College football is adding a new member, and it gets to pick one player from each existing team. Like in the NHL, teams can protect 22 percent of their players, roughly 19 of an 85-man roster in college football, nine on offense, nine on defense, one specialist. Alabama Preview
After the most bizarre college football season of all time, it all comes down to this. Alabama against Ohio State, No. 1 vs. No. 3, for a national title that looks, on paper, to be one of the most interesting matchups of the entire season.

Holiday Mailbag!
The BSB podcast has made a list of questions, checked it twice to make sure that we aren't being punked by the trolls and haters on Twitter, and is ready to shimmy on down the chimney to deliver a present to you all this Christmas: a podcast episode.

Indiana Recap
For the first time this season, we have a legitimately interesting game to discuss on the weekly recap show, as the Buckeyes struggled to put away Indiana, winning 42-35 on Saturday.
After a quick rundown of the game news, we jump right into the offense to talk about Justin Fields' off-day, the improved running game, and I (Patrick) go on my first of two extended explanations of what happened during the game, this time on why the OSU line struggled so much with blitz pickups.

Midseason Grades, Big Ten Power Rankings
Despite the lack of an Ohio State game to talk about, the BSB podcast is back again bright and early this morning to break down some of the action from the weekend, give out some midseason grades to Ohio State's position groups and attempt to re-rank the Big Ten after another chaotic weekend.

Mailbag! Featuring Tate, Trades And More
With Ohio State off this weekend following the cancelation of its Nov. 14 matchup with Maryland, it felt like as good a time as any to open things up to the listeners and take some questions.
And boy, did you all deliver. After a quick chat about the cancelation, women's basketball and the AP poll, we jumped right into questions, opening with Wyatt's complete ranking of Tate Martell's top 10 players as a Buckeyes.
Then, some hypothetical CFB trades, Ohio State's playoff chances if it loses more games to cancelation, whether there will be a playoff at all, and some men's basketball discussion about Ohio State's starting lineup and general outlook for the season. Lastly, Wyatt absolutely refuses to pick a new color scheme for Ohio State (I, on the other hand, went with black and gold, with a hint of red).

Rutgers Recap
It's another recap podcast, this time for Ohio State's wild 49-27 win over Rutgers. After a quick hit on Blake Haubeil missing the game with an injury, we jump right into yet another obscene Justin Fields performance, his growing connection with Garrett Wilson and the sheer dominance of this passing attack.
It's not all positive for the Buckeye offense, though. We break down the run game issues and propose a potential solution in the form of a personnel change.
Defensively, this episode is a bit of a "step back from the ledge" moment. We break down the struggles of the second hand and some of Kerry Coombs' bizarre schematic choices, but we also take a look at Rutgers' less-than-great first half performance, and why it may be more instructive than the second half for judging this group.

Rutgers Preview (Feat. Aaron Breitman)
Against all odds, the Buckeye Sports Bulletin podcast has emerged once more to produce a preview episode, this time recorded primarily on Wyatt's day off from his apartment, because the grind truly never stops.
After a brief introduction and some news, we jump into our interview with On The Banks managing editor Aaron Breitman to talk about Greg Schiano, Noah Vedral and Rutgers, including what it will take for the Scarlet Knights to put a dent in Ohio State's suit of armor.

Penn State Recap
It's another post-game recap show, second of the season, recorded nice and early on Sunday morning in the BSB's offices. Without a ton of pregame news to mention, we jumped right into talking about Ohio State's ridiculous passing attack featuring Justin Fields, the wide receivers (all two of them) and Ryan Day's absurdly good play design.
Then, it's time to throw some cool water on the idea that the running game is fixed, though the offensive line did look quite a bit better, in our estimation.
On the other side of the ball, Jonathon Cooper and the defensive tackles caught our eye, while some major scheme issues against run-pass options served to make Ohio State's defensive backs look a whole lot worse than they actually are.
Buckeye talk ends with Buckeye leaves and a quick box score breakdown, before Wyatt has a meltdown looking at Minnesota and Michigan wasting as much talent as possible with horrible gameplans in horrible losses to bad teams.

Penn State Preview (Feat. Matt de Bear)
Roar Lions Roar senior editor Matt de Bear makes his first appearance on the BSB podcast to talk about Penn State's roster and the upcoming matchup between the Nittany Lions and Buckeyes.
Before that, however, we broke down the AP poll, the cancelation of the Nebraska-Wisconsin game, Noah Cain's injury and some big news in Buckeye recruiting.
Post-interview, we jumped back in to give some of our own thoughts on the key matchups, top three players on each team and a score prediction. We hopped in the studio bright and earlier Sunday morning to break down every part of Ohio State's season-opening 52-17 victory over Nebraska, including a deep look at Justin Fields' big day, Ohio State's electric receivers room, problems in the run game and some early defensive struggles.

Nebraska Preview (feat. Erin Sorensen)
At long last, Ohio State football is back. Or, on the precipice of being back, at least, with just over 24 hours to go before the Buckeyes kickoff against Nebraska to open their 2020 season.
To celebrate, and to prepare, we welcomed Hail Varsity's Erin Sorensen to the program this week to get the full scoop on Nebraska, from quarterback Adrian Martinez, needed improvement up front on both sides of the ball, and a potential star in safety Deontai Williams.
