TRIUMPH Drummer/Singer Gil Moore Joins us to discuss The '83 US FESTIAVAL turning 40 , reflections on the day, performing in that extreme heat and the enormously huge crowd.
Gil reveals details on the soon to be released TRIUMPH All Star Tribute CD and even discusses beers n Hockey.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of this legendary concert, Triumph, will be issuing the double-LP, Live at the US Festival. This still remains one of the greatest performances of their career. BADLANDS- ROC N ROLL DETENTION. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE DEBUT CD OF THIS OVERLOOKED GREAT AMERICAN ROCK BAND .ON THE BIRTHDAY OF THE FIRST CD
HELLO METAL HEADS- Tonight we present the second installment of our new series ROC N ROLL DETENTION ,as we are peeling back all the layers of the often overlooked ,but highly respected band BADLANDS.
BADLANDS was an American heavy metal band founded by former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Jake E. Lee, former Black Sabbath members Ray Gillen (vocals) and Eric Singer (drums), as well as former Surgical Steel bass player Greg Chaisson.
After the first Badlands album, Eric Singer was replaced by Jeff Martin. The group lasted from 1988 to 1993 and released three albums. Badlands (1989) and Voodoo Highway (1991) were released before Gillen left and was replaced by singer John West from New York. Gillen's death in 1993 effectively ended any hopes of reuniting the project. The album Dusk (a demo recorded in 1992–93) was released in 1998 with the then-deceased Gillen on vocals.
Metal Walt and Ian O'Rourke guide you on this episode as the two share their reflections on the two releases, what the music meant to them and the impact the band had on the rock landscape in the late 80's and early 90's.

This week we get the whole gang back together for another installment of our running series The HISTORY OF METAL- 1992.
The 90's are shifting into second gear and the old guards are attempting to get off the mat after the grunge movement of 1991 kicked their asses.
KISS , MEGADETH, IRON MAIDEN and DEF LEPPARD came back with strong efforts. Old hair bands like EXTREME, FIREHOUSE and BON JOVI were still releasing material.
PANTERA was making their claim as the king of the hill with their kickass Vulgar Display of Power effort.
Alternative & Grunge had a second wave of bands as RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and ALICE IN CHAINS exploded onto the scene with killer debuts.
So many release's from old school , new school.It is a free for all and its interesting to see how it plays out.

Today we are excited to introduce the inaugural episode of a cool new show we call " Roc n Roll Detention".
This is our chance to get granular and take a deep dive into a particular subject in the Roc and Heavy Metal landscape. Have it be a Top 10 lists or "best of" , historic tour or memorable concert, nothing is off limits. Its a fun and creative way to share our passion with the audience.
I am joined by co host Ian O'Rourke , from our "HISTORY OF METAL" series and the band MOTORLORD , to help celebrate the birthday of Van Halen's " Fair Warning" album.
As die hard VH fans like we are, we feel that FAIR WARNING is excellent on so many levels. Ian shares takes on the songs, the musicianship of the band and the brilliance of EVH. Vernomatic expresses his favorite parts of these songs and recounts first hand experiences of seeing this tour in person as a 14 year old.

Zak Stevens -New ARCHON ANGEL CD, SAVATAGE NJ Metal history and update on health of John Oliva in 2023.
Today we’re here to talk with famed Vocalist, Zak Stevens. Zak has been behind the microphone since the early 90s & is best known as Singer of Savatage, Circle II Circle & a member of Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Stevens and producer / guitar player extraordinaire Aldo Lonobile make up the force behind Archon Angel and this album, aptly named ‘II’ is their second album together. Like their first effort, but even more in tune and perfected, ‘II’ is an impressive and powerful work of prog metal. On this episode we’re here to talk to Zak about his new Project, as well as his back history.
Zak Stevens first came to prominence in the metal scene when he was hand-picked by Savatage's Jon Olivia to take over as lead vocalist for the band. Starting with 1993's Edge Of Thorns, he would record four studio albums with the band. He has also performed on multiple Trans-Siberian Orchestra releases, including Christmas Eve and Other Stories, Beethoven's Last Night, and more, while also being a member of the band's touring production. Around 2001, Zak started a band, Circle II Circle, which has recorded seven studio albums, with the most recent being 2015's Reign Of Darkness. Additionally, he has appeared on albums by Timo Tolkki's Avalon, Machines Of Grace, Jon Olivia's Pain, and more.

WIG WAM- Norwegian Glam Veterans Strike back with Fresh CD, Spring US Tour and New American TV exposure.
In our promise to showcase a variety of artists to the show, today we’re here to talk with Trond of Wig Wam. Wig Wam is a Norwegian glam metal band formed in Halden in 2001. Wig Wam's lineup—consisting of vocalist Glam, guitarist Teeny, bassist Flash and drummer Sporty —has remained unchanged since the band's formation. The band's style mixes glam metal and hard rock with humorous lyrics and imagery. Although Wig Wam may not be a familiar name in the States, they’ve been at it for close to 20 years now & have had quite an amazing journey from their start to the present. Trond shares the incredible up and down history of the band & their forthcoming new release “Out Of The Dark”.
We give our critique of some of the tracks from this release as well as our observation of the uniqueness of their sound. AND IT IS A SOUND!!! lol.
Trond goes into detail about gaining national Norweign fame 20 years ago that provided stardome, but eventually spilt the band up. Learn how the band regrouped and has sruck gold again with a bit of American success.

NASTY SAVAGE- "NASTY RONNIE" Galetti admits that after 40 years of Thrashing Metal and Bashing T.V's he has only just begun!
Nasty Savage is an American thrash metal band from Brandon, Florida. Formed in 1983 by vocalist "Nasty" Ronnie Galletti. The band has undergone various lineup changes, with Galletti and guitarist David Austin remaining the only constant members, until the latter's departure in 2022.
Nasty Ronnie joins show host Jon "The Vernomatic" Verno, co host " SOUTHERN CAL" and show correspondent "BILL THE RAGER" on to discuss the March 24th Orlando show in which Bill and Southern Cal attended.
Ronnie reflects on the early Florida death metal scene, NASTY SAVAGE's direct effect on inspiring bands such as Death and Obituary and the live bar circuit at the time.
Ronnie shares his love of WENDY O and how his TV obsession came about and how SAVATAGE led the way in Florida Metal.
For nearly 40 years, the band recorded music, toured the world, and provided one of a kind live experience.
The group is still functioning, and delivering mayhem to ecstatic fans.
Despite some breaks in their activities, the stop is very unlikely.

LEGION OF DOOM: Metal/Doom Supergroup form to honor the memory of Eric Wagner. Featuring Current And Former Members Of The Skull, Trouble, Saint Vitus, Corrosion Of Conformity, Pentagram.
Have you ever wanted to hear all the heavy in one place? From its origins onward?
After the untimely passing of Eric Wagner (Trouble, The Skull), one of doom metal’s most notable and esteemed singers and songwriters, The Skull bassist and bandleader, Ron Holzner, contemplated long and hard on whether it would be possible to carry on. Nine months and a lot of soul searching later, an idea was born.
Alongside guitarist Lothar Keller (The Skull, Sacred Dawn) and drummer Henry Vasquez (The Skull, Saint Vitus, Blood Of The Sun), vocalist Karl Agell (Corrosion Of Conformity, Blind, Leadfoot, Lie Heavy) as well as vocalist Scott Reagers (Saint Vitus) and riff master general, guitarist Victor Griffin (Death Row, Pentagram, Place Of Skulls). And so LEGION OF DOOM has come to exist with an all-star lineup of doom’s most prestigious figureheads, here to share their ultimate heavy truth, taking the genre from what is known into uncharted territories.
Recalls Holzner, “I decided I want to honor the memory of Eric by playing songs that he crafted. I want his spirit to become eternal through his words and melody. And I also want to play songs from the catalogs of everyone involved.”
Ron and Karl join Vernomatic and Metal Walt and share the process of how and why this much deserved project came about. The four discuss the history of all the members in this band and how it all ties together with the late Eric Wagner.
LEGION OF DOOM will make its debut appearance at Legions Of Metal Fest in Chicago this June before heading overseas for a performance at Hellfest in France with more live dates to be announced in the weeks to come.

STEVE RILEY of RILEY’S L.A.GUNS -New single‘Rewind‘, Drumming with WASP in the 80’s and touring with ACDC and Leppard.

In this edition of the podcast Vernomatic and Metal Walt interviews drummer STEVE RILEY of RILEY’S L.A. GUNS.
After some time down and a few personnel changes, the band has been reborn as Riley’s LA Guns with the return of original member Kelly Nickels on bass, Steve Riley who has been the most consistent member ever throughout the years and still on drums, Scotty Griffin on guitar and Kurt Frohlich on lead vocals. After signing a multi album deal with international independent powerhouse rock label Golden Robot Records, Riley's L.A. Guns released their debut album Renegades to critical acclaim.
The three go into detail on the band’s songwriting process surrounding the first two single's 'Overdrive" and ‘Rewind‘ from their highly anticipated forthcoming new album THE DARK HORSE.

In A SPECIAL EDITION episode, we observe the death date (2/19/1980) of the late great Bon Scott. We present an interview with Jesse Fink, the author of BON: LAST HIGHWAY.
Unlike other ACDC or Bon Scott books, BON: THE LAST HIGHWAY concentrates solely on the last two years of Bon's Life. late 1977- Feb 1980. We discuss Jesse's extensive research process, the measure he took to interview people THAT met Bon during this period. SWORD- Legendary Canadian’s new CD, how they jump started their career and opening for Metallica in ’86
Happy Thanksgiving Metal heads! Here is a pre Gobble day listen for your steamy little ears. The return of SWORD!
Formed in 1980 in Montreal, SWORD released their debut album Metalized in 1986 which was described as; Aggressive, Melodic, Loud and Rude.
They were hand-picked by Metallica to open the Quebec leg of the Master of puppets tour, Alice Cooper’s Canadian Return of the nightmare tour and then crisscrossed the UK with the Mighty Lemmy on Motorhead’s Rock’n’Roll tour.
It was followed by the Heavy but diverse Sweet Dreams in 1988. After a short US tour promoting the album, they started work on their 3rd album. All hell broke loose and a parting of ways ensued… Until 2011, when they reunited for a few select shows in Canada and Germany and found the urge to go back in the studio to finish where they had left off.

DESTRUCTOR- 80’s thrasher’s story of earning major record deal, band ending tragedy and a 2022 comeback. Great walk down Heavy Metal Memory Lane.
Cleveland, Ohio's DESTRUCTOR was a 1980s thrash metal band whose brief career was curtailed by tragedy.
Formed in 1983 by spectacularly renamed members Dave Overkill (vocals/guitar), Pat Rabid (guitar), Paul Warhead (bass), and perhaps best of all, Matt Flammable (drums), Destructor jumped the thrash metal bandwagon hot on the heels of pioneers like Metallica and Slayer.
1985 saw the release of their Their full-length debut MAXIMUM DESTRUCTION . Although rough around the edges, the album was big on promise and well received by the metal underground, eventually leading to a major label deal with Island Records for DESTRUCTOR'S next effort.
Recording for the tentatively entitled "Decibel Casualties" began in late 1987, but, tragically, Dave Holocaust was stabbed to death on January 1, 1988; and when their Island deal fell through, DESTRUCTOR decided to call it a day rather than carry on without their slain friend.

The collaboration between Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, co-founder of KISS and serial entrepreneur Gene Simmons and partners Paul Janik Jr., John Janik , began with a chance meeting at Cleveland’s “Wizard World” convention.
The long time KISS fans were in attendance with the hope of meeting their rock Idol, who was a featured guest at the convention. John and Paul struck up a soda-centric conversation with the music legend. Simmons asked for their card, and a week later, Paul received a call from Simmons.

As Metal Walt and Ian O'Rourke take a mid summer vacation, Vernomatic Returns with a local story of a young Heavy Metal Fan following a dream.
Aaron Thom is a mid twenties metal head with the soul of a old rager.
His love and fascination with the metal scene of the eighties has blossomed into a business venture.
In 2021 Aaron parlayed his obsession of 80's unsigned metal bands into the start of a record label specializing in re distribution of old demo's from bands from the 80s.
Aaron shares the process of seeking out these old bands that by now are scattered across the globe.
With the help of his Metal network, Aaron connects with these artists with the goal of re releasing these lost treasures so that the 2020's generation of Heavy Metal fans can enjoy these efforts.

Johnny ”Z”- R.I.P. Carl Canedy of The RODS remembers his long time friend and brother in Metal.
Megaforce co-founder Jon Zazula — who launched the iconic label, which released the first albums from Metallica, Anthrax and many others, with his wife Marsha in 1982 — died on Tuesday Feb. 1. He passed away in Florida surrounded by his brother, daughters, grand-daughters and friends; he was 69.
Tonight Jon "The Vernomatic'' Verno welcomes Carl Canedy of the NY power metal band THE RODS on to reflect on JOHNNY Z's Life in and out of the metal arena.
Canedy and Zazula have been friends for over 40 years. Forming both a professional and personal relationship. Canedy reflects back on a friendship that started in the metal community, but turned the two into "FAMILY".

Tonight-- show host Jon “The Vernomatic’ Verno has two fun informative interviews to share.
Resist & Bite was formed in early 2019 by Tommy Skeoch (Formerly of Tesla) David Parks, Steve stokes, Brian Powell and Nathan Utz (Formerly of Lynch Mob).
The band spend most of 2019 writing and recording. They made themselves public to the world in February 2020, just in time for the pandemic.!! The band self-produced and released their first song “The Myth I’m Living” on Metal works, 105.9 The Rock in Nashville TN. The track gained momentum and positive attention worldwide.
In June 2021, saw the band release another single and video for the track “Fate”. The song was recorded and mixed by Michael Rosen at Sound Stage Studios in Nashville and is one of 13 new original tracks on the just released self-titled debut album Resist & Bite.

On April 28th, 1981; Marty was the young disc Jockey responsible for booking Ozzy Osbourne & The Blizzard of Ozz on hit TV show "After Hours" at 31 Studios here in Rochester, New York. Randy Rhoads took to the stage to film a live performance, this is the only pro shot video footage in existance of the late Randy Rhoads.
Marty shared of just how and why he booked Ozzy, what is was like to both meet and work with Ozzy, Randy and the rest of the band .

They say it's better to give than to receive, so we're doing our part and handing out a dose of old school metal. We did some research and was able to locate Katon De Pena from legendary 80's thrash/metal band HIRAX for lesson in the history of thrash.
Jon "The Vernomatic" Verno is joined by MM Roc's Show Producer Mike Anthony for a deep dive into the history of HIRAX. Katon explains what it was like for heavier bands like Hirax, Metallica, Slayer and Dark Angel in glam metal infested LA in the early 80's and what led to the eventual migration to San Francisco.
