2020 – A year like no other | Hugh Carthy the complete package but will EF back him for GC in 2021?
Play • 47 min

Brad and Graham are back and joined by living legend Sean Kelly for the last episode of the Bradley Wiggins Show this year to dissect a season like no other.

The trio deliberate on the truncated racing calendar with Sam Bennett and Tao Geoghegan Hart’s exploits at the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia lauded. King Kelly breaks down his nerves as protégé Bennett sealed Champs-Élysées glory.

Primoz Roglic, who saw a maiden Tour de France win agonisingly taken from his grasp by Tadej Pogačar, bounced back to claim a consecutive Vuelta a España to continue an astounding few years.

Elsewhere, Hugh Carthy was the latest breakthrough act in a season of breakthroughs, and Brad calls the Lancashire rider the finished package, who has a genuine chance of winning a Grand Tour. However, will EF Pro Cycling back him?

2012 Tour de France winner Brad expects Team Ineos to bounce back after – despite Giro success – a disappointing season but raises questions over some of the signings the British-based team have made.

Chris Froome, who is set to sign with Israel Start-Up Nation for the 2021 season, expects excellence, adds Brad, and his team have made some astute signings to support the seven-times Grand Tour winner as he goes in search of a fifth Tour.

The trio wrap up with their moments of the season and expectations for next year.

The Bradley Wiggins Show is produced by Pete Burton.

Ep 93: Peak Zwift, Coco is Cara! Zwift Power + all the Zwifty chat
A new episode for a New Year - and 2021 has dawned with, as usual, lots of Zwift news and developments for the Zwiftcasters to discuss. The trio start off with an exploration of the possible reasons why Simon’s very favourite pacer bot may have had an identity change. Coco is now Cara! But why? Simon has a theory. The podcasters move on to discuss the big new Peak Zwift - with more than 46,000 users on the platform concurrently the growth of Zwift over the past year can now be quantified, using this public metric. Up from a mere 16,000 concurrent users at the same point last year, Simon, Shane and Zwift celebrate the achievement whilst also exploring what it all means. Just in time for the Tour de Zwift’s six remaining stages, the game’s developers think they may have found a possible bug which could explain why some users (previously described by the chaps as “potato-owners”) have hit problems riding big events. Are potatoes off the hook? The Zwiftcasters chime in. A high profile departure from Zwift of a respected event organiser seems to have focussed some attention on the event management system - is a new hire at Zwift, combined with the drama of the departure, an answer to some of the gripes Event Organisers have? And Zwift Power has been having a tough time recently - Glen Knight, one half of the service’s inventors tries to shed light on what may be happening. Plus all the usual other Zwift news and chat! We hope you enjoy listening.

3: Presenting Jumbo-Visma 2021
This week’s episode of The Cycling Podcast comes from the Team Jumbo-Visma training camp in Alicante, Spain. Richard Moore and Orla Chennaoui spent a few days with the world’s number one ranked team as they prepared for and looked ahead to the 2021 season. We hear from Marianne Vos, who will lead the new women’s team, Wout van Aert, Tom Dumoulin, Steven Kruijswijk, Sepp Kuss, Tobias Foss and Primoz Roglic, as well as team boss Richard Plugge and sporting director Merijn Zeeman. Van Aert explains why he has agreed to three more years with the team, Dumoulin discusses his Classics ambitions, and we hear who will lead Jumbo-Visma at the three Grand Tours.  We also look back on 2020 and a Tour de France that looked to be theirs until Roglic’s defeat to Tadej Pogacar on the penultimate day. What happened at La Planche des Belles Filles, did Jumbo-Visma make any mistakes over the three weeks of a Tour in which they were the strongest team, and how can they try and ensure it doesn’t happen again?  The Cycling Podcast is supported by iwoca and Science in Sport For 25% off all your Science in Sport products go to http://scienceinsport.com and enter the code SISCP25 at the checkout This episode is sponsored by Babbel, the language learning app. With Babbel you can choose from 14 different languages, including, Spanish, French, Italian, and German.
