Obeying the King's Voice - Rev Clark Chilton - Nov. 21, 2021
“Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”
Jesus is implying that as the King, his words are authoritative. His voice is truth and leads to truth.
Jesus’ Kingdom is not one of flesh and blood, castles moats and earthly conquest. Plunder. His Kingdom is of the heart. He is King of all that is righteous, pure and true. He can be King of our intentions, our motives, guiding us into holiness. So of course His kingdom is not of this world.
Whatever voice we listen to, is what we belong to. Because the converse of Jesus’ statement is that those who belong to lies do not listen to His voice.
But here’s the tough part: human beings, in our natural state, we tend to be really, really bad at listening spiritually.
And because we are not very good at listening to the King’s voice, at least, not initially in our walk with Christ, its the main reason many non-believers look around at the Church and the physical chaos of our world and ask, “Jesus is King? Really?…
