This week, we explore the interpretation of consumer genetic results from Dr. Jeff has a conversation with the infamous Brown Sugar, her friends, Drs. Sarah Ann Anderson-Burnett and Byron Young. We learn what it means to be kin?! And for the first time EVER, we do something unique that only our show could do! Dr. Jeff analyzes Byron and Sarah’s Ancestry results to learn some cool things like if these best friends are kin! We also learn if Sarah’s results explain why she burns sage every third Sunday or if Byron’s genetic ancestry results motivated him to wear dashikis everyday. We also challenge the notion of African ancestry and hair texture. Lastly, we introduce Afrofuturism, something we love to embrace on the show. .
