Episode 22-Bill J Mckinney Combining Fitness and Intermittent Fasting. The First 6 Months seeing a 58 pound-26kg weight loss
Bill J Mc Kinney is from Denver Colorado in the USA and owns a Karate School which he operates at night and is a stay home dad to his three children during the day. In 2019 Bills tells us he was enjoying the best year of health in his life. After climbing a mountain, he suffered a major health scare on the descent down from the summit and was rushed to a local hospital. After a series of tests that didn’t give him many answers, Bill then found that he had some intolerances to certain foods which he explains in detail.  Based on his initial research and learning, Bill found his way to intermittent fasting he then asked some friends that he knew that did IF, for some more information. Three friends referred him to Gin Stephens and her book “Delay Don't Deny”.  He got the audiobook and listened to it, and then immediately also then read Gins other book “Fast Feast Repeat”. He then committed to clean fasting after initially not clean fasting form the start and found it was instantly better. He explains he was then hooked on intermittent fasting. Bills tells us he started IF by doing 18:6 after that point it just naturally shifted to 20:4 over a couple of weeks. The more he fasted the better he felt and he just wanted to keep going He talks candidly about his struggle with weight from a very young age. He tells us how he got started in Karate after been encouraged by his Grandmother who was worried about him being bullied at school. Bill tells us of his love to be active and how his love for exercise evolved with him now teaching karate in his own school. He attributes his Karate training to helping him with mindset around intermittent fasting and adapted to it relatively quickly In our chat, he gives us some great advice around exercise and what we can start doing and as a cook of some note he gives some great tips on simple meals and the importance of colour on our plates. Bill tells us that he started IF weighing 102 Kg -225 pounds 6 months ago with a goal weight of 81 Kg- 180 pounds and is now 75 Kg- 167 pounds His focus now is muscle growth and reducing body fat % by increasing muscle mass. Bill is the founder of the Facebook group Fasted Fitness with Bill J McKinney and he has a genuine passion also for men’s mental health as he tells us about in this episode. An engaging chat with Bill who has a great take on living an intermittent fasting Lifestyle combined with fitness which is his passion.  News My Book the Fasting Highway is due for release in the next couple of weeks we will have an episode to discuss the book soon. The Fasting Highway Facebook group is now up and running where we discuss all things Intermittent fasting. 160: How to Raise Your Energetic Vibration w/ Jay & Monica Campbell
Raising your energetic vibration is something that all women should prioritize throughout their lives. Even if this is something you’ve never thought about before, this episode with Jay and Monica Campbell will enlighten you to the benefits of a high vibe life and give you insight into how to achieve one for yourself. Key Takeaways How to raise your vibration: * Lower your insulin signal * Build muscle * Increase your cardiovascular health/heart rate * Understand the balance between sound body and sound mind About Jay and Monica Campbell A former champion men’s physique competitor and current 4x international best selling author in the optimized health care space, Jay Campbell is a global thought leader on hormones, biohacking, fat loss, and higher consciousness. Jay is a NO-nonsense, authentic, and fully transparent guy (in a day and age when being hyper-masculine is frowned on), and FEARLESS in his servant mission of leading humanity towards full-spectrum optimization of the body-mind, heart, and soul. Since returning from 12 days in The Sacred Valley of Peru, he's experienced a seismic energetic shift manifesting in a profound new focus of raising the collective vibration of humanity so we reach planetary consciousness aka unconditional love. Monica Campbell is the author of Cracking the Fountain of Youth Code: A Woman’s Guide to Being Healthier, Happier, and Empowered for Life. She manifested her perfect love and relationship with Jay into her life and now helps bring fulfillment into other women’s lives. Choosing the Best Version of Yourself What I loved the most about this conversation with Jay and Monica Campbell is Monica’s complete openness about her first marriage and how she raised her own energetic vibration to find Jay. Monica talks about how when her first marriage ended, she turned to a party lifestyle. She thought this would fulfill her, but ultimately, it didn’t, leaving her feeling like something was missing for her. She decided to honor who she truly was inside by learning more about her inner Monica. She knew what qualities she wanted to embody to be the best version of herself and Monica decided to embody them. Jay adds some thoughts regarding how repressed and blocked emotions can impact your overall health. Because blocked emotions can lead to long-term illness, Jay is very intentional about helping others raise their energetic vibration. Raise Your Vibration to Optimize Your Love Creation! Part of this is choosing who you want to be. Jay and Monica talk about how you can intentionally choose the type of person you want to be. And as long as this person is in line with your high vibration being, you will thrive. So how do you raise your vibration? Jay takes us through four ways to start. Lowering your blood insulin level is very important, as is improving your cardiovascular health. He also talks about why building your muscular strength is so important. Finally, Jay provides some insight into understanding the balance you need to achieve between your strong body and your strong mind. He explains that when you work your spiritual and emotional muscles, you raise your energetic vibration. What steps are you taking to raise your energetic vibration? How can you be more present and honoring to yourself? As always, you can ask me anything and let me hear your thoughts in the comments on the episode page. If you have questions, email team@drannacabeca.com. In This Episode * How you can honor who you are to be the best version of yourself [12:15] * How blocked emotions can lead to long-term and chronic illness [14:30] * Why you should decide who you’ll show up as in this world [28:15] * How to raise your vibration [30:30] * What happens when you work your emotional and spiritual muscles [32:15] Quotes “You can choose to live your life in a state of being that is resonant and coherent which is full of love, full of forgiveness, full of acceptance, full of allowance, full of all the things that a person who is attempting to give love, serve mankind without attachment or expectant to an outcome. Just doing it for the general existence of joy and happiness in your life.” [26:42] “We’ve got to understand, as people, as an individual, it’s really up to us to decide how we’re going to show up in the world. When you are in a place of self-acceptance, self-awareness, and self-love, you are able to project that outward and truly make a difference.” [28:21] “The love that you take at an energetic soul level is equal to the love that you make in every lifetime of physical experience.” [36:29] Resources Mentioned Buy Aseir Custom: The Holy-Grail of Anti-Aging Creams. RE 301: A Case of the Fuck Its
Alex took her last drink April 25, 2020. With exactly 109 days away from alcohol, (at the time of recording) this is her story of living alcohol free (AF).   Odette’s weekly installment of: Finding Your Better You   The end of the year is the time when Odette sees a lot of “fuck-its”. Putting your goals on hold and coasting to the end of the year, to start fresh in the new year. 2020 particularly has been hard as so much was put on hold; we can now choose to make this year mean nothing or everything. Keep going, keep putting your good energy into the year. The rest of this year is a marathon, not a sprint to 2021. Hold onto your sobriety, visualize your path, see the people along the way cheering you on, see the finish line. You can do this.   [7:30] Odette introduces Alex   Alex is 28 years old. She is originally from Indianapolis, IN and just moved to Denver, CO. She loves hiking, mountain biking, being outside. She lives with a roommate and her dog. She’s the “designated ice cream friend” among her group of friends.   [10:50] Can you give listeners some background on your drinking?   Alex said she was never someone who drank daily, but she found herself often in drinking situations and she wasn’t able to moderate. She moved from Chicago back to Indianapolis and the drinking didn’t change like she hoped it would. Alex began to make rules around her drinking to try to moderate. Morning after morning of not remembering nights she began to explore and consider a life without alcohol. She wanted to remember everything.     [14:04] What drew you to start listening to Recovery Elevator?   Alex said when she was questioning her drinking, she felt she couldn’t tell anyone in her circle of friends but knew there had to be something out there in the podcast world. There was one in particular that spoke to her, she saw herself in the interviewee. Alex began to get angry at the alcohol.     [17:42] What tools work for you?   Alex said she walks every day, minimum 2 hours. That’s been therapeutic for her. It allows her to slow down and focus on the little things in life. When she feels a craving, she goes for a walk.   [19:08] Do people around you know you’re sober?   Alex said everybody knows now. It started as a whisper to some people and now it’s something that is just known. When 1000 Hours Dry was looking for a host, she signed right up, giving her an extra layer of accountability.      [23:27] What’s your worst memory from drinking?   Alex said she woke up one morning, not remembering at all how she got home from the night before. She decided to take herself out to brunch, where she drank and rode herself home on her bike. She had an accident, breaking her wrist and giving herself a concussion.      [27:00] What’s your go to response when someone offers you a drink?   Alex said she says “no thank you, I have my own drink!”     [28:55] Have you gotten to the bottom of why you chose to drink?   Alex said she was lonely and seeking validation. She felt she would be more likable if she drank.     [33:28] Do you ever feel a disconnect in your age decade and when you got sober?   Alex said she was nervous about this choice and how it would affect her social life. Reframing the idea of not drinking is what helped her get through it. She wanted to remember the things that hadn’t happened yet.     [33:28] Do you ever feel a disconnect in your age decade and when you got sober?   Alex said she was nervous about this choice and how it would affect her social life. Reframing the idea of not drinking is what helped her get through it.     [36:41] What’s been the hardest part of the last few months?   Letting go of expectations and having different expectations. Having to go with the flow.     [39:16] Do you have a daily routine?   Alex said she making coffee is therapeutic to her. She focuses on the enjoyment she will get from the process and the end result. She journals while drinking the coffee. Her walking is also part of what keeps her sane. Alex has some playlists that bring her peace.        [43:42] Rapid Fire Round    * If you could talk to day 1 Dusty, what would you say?   You deserve a life without alcohol.   * What are you excited about right now?   Getting yoga certification, meeting new people.   * What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?   Graham Central Station or TJ Cookie Butter   * What is a lightbulb moment you’ve had in this journey?   You don’t need a drink. You just need to be and sit through the feeling.   * What parting piece of guidance can you give listeners?   I promise this decision is fun.     You may have to say adios to booze...    You’re only guaranteed to go to a wedding if there’s an open bar.   Odette’s weekly challenge:   Commit to finishing the race. Commit to your sobriety.  Flip the question. Ep. 124 Using Breathing Techniques, Meditation, and Cold Therapy To Stimulate Your Immune System
We are delighted and very excited to have Wim Hof joining us today! Wim is known as The Iceman because he is an extreme athlete who can withstand unbelievably cold temperatures. He has a new book that has recently come out, called The Wim Hof Method: Activate Your Full Human Potential, which has just hit the New York Times Bestseller List. The Wim Hof Method is a combination of cold water exposure, breathing techniques, and meditation. Many of us are feeling overwhelmed with stress right now. Wim explains that we are built to be connected with our stress mechanisms at will to defy any kind of stress. If we don’t go into the stress mechanisms of our brain in the way that nature intended, we leave them unstimulated. Those underdeveloped mechanisms will eventually be unable to work in connection with our will when something truly stressful happens to us. Wim has a lot of wisdom to share, so be sure to stay tuned today to learn about his unique method for coping with stress naturally. IN THIS EPISODE YOU’LL LEARN ABOUT: * How we are built to connect with our stress mechanisms at will, to be able to defy any stress. * How the cold quickly connects us with our adaptive powers, thermogenesis, and the deeper parts of our brain. * Connecting with the deeper parts of the brain through the power of your intention. * Why you need to work hard and change your mindset to gain control of * your deeper biological processes. * How breathing techniques, meditation, and cold therapy can stimulate your immune system, change your biochemistry, and heal you. * How to get high on your own supply. * What a typical day looks like for Wim. * Using hormetic stressful exercises to access the RNA. * Using mitochondrial influence to create more energy than you will ever need. * Wim’s new book is The Wim Hof Method: Activate Your Full Human Potential.
