How To Overcome Loneliness While Traveling
Loneliness is something I’m asked about frequently. It's intimidating to set off on an adventure without knowing how long you’re going to be traveling for or when you'll be "home." And, with the current pandemic conditions forcing many of us into a space of solitude, there’s never been a better time to speak on the topic of loneliness. In this episode, I talk about how we can cope with feeling alone and endure the absence of human connection and adventure, as well as how to cultivate peace of mind. Solo travel has helped me become comfortable with my own company and I would like to share a few lessons I’ve learned about loneliness with you, along with a few personal stories from my travels and tips for how to embrace loneliness rather than fear it. If we change our perspective and mindset around being alone, we can learn to turn it into a positive state of being, focusing on presence, gratitude, and fearlessness. Just as travelers are curious about the world and the unknown, we must stay curious about our feelings! Are you hesitant to become a digital nomad or travel by yourself for fear of feeling lonely? Trust me, you’re not the only one… Fortunately, those brief moments of loneliness that everyone encounters are always outweighed by long-lasting moments of immense joy, awe, and aliveness you feel while traveling the world. TOPICS DISCUSSED/WHAT YOU’LL LEARN: * The various definitions of loneliness (and if they're accurate) * The sense of self that is uncovered through travel * The difference between loneliness and being alone * Solitude and solitary confinement? (It's all in our heads) * Tips for shifting your mindset around loneliness and alone time * What happens when we resist loneliness and what happens if we embrace it * The connection that comes from moments of solitude * The possibility of feeling lonely while surrounded by other people * Stories from my travels about finding balance between feeling loneliness and contentment * How to cope with loneliness in healthy ways * How your connection to the world changes once you become a digital nomad * How full-time travelers feel about loneliness *Two things all digital nomads, remote workers, and world travelers need:* * * Travel Insurance with SafetyWing * A TransferWise Borderless Bank Account RESOURCES * Podcast: Sailing Ruby Rose Episode * Medium Blog: The Paradox of Loneliness in the Digital Nomad Lifestyle ....................................................................................................... Inside the Mind of Glenn Beck, You Find…Walt Disney and Orson Welles?
Contact: best10.timferriss@gmail.com Original: http://fourhourworkweek.com/2015/04/06/glenn-beck/ “When I turned 30, I knew my life was at a crossroads. It was either over, or I was going to restart.” – Glenn Beck [9:10] The goal of my blog and podcast is to push you outside of your comfort zone and force you to question assumptions. This is why I invite divergent thinkers and world-class performers who often disagree. I might interview Tony Robbins and then Matt Mullenweg. Or I might have a long chat with Sam Harris, PhD, and later invite a seemingly opposite guest like… Glenn Beck. This interview is a wild ride, and it happened — oddly enough — thanks to a late-night sauna session. I was catching up with an old friend, who is mixed-race, a Brown University grad, and liberal in almost every sense of the word. I casually asked him, “If you could pick one person to be on the podcast, who would it be?” “Glenn Beck,” he answered without a moment’s hesitation. “His story is FASCINATING.” He described how Glenn hit rock bottom and restarted his life in his 30’s, well past the point most people think it possible. Fast forward to 2014, Forbes named him to their annual Celebrity 100 Power List and pegged his earnings at $90 million for that year. This placed him ahead of people like Mark Burnett, Jimmy Fallon, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Will Smith. Glenn’s platforms — including radio, tv, digital (TheBlaze.com), publishing, etc. — get somewhere between 30 and 50 million unique visitors per month. This interview is neither a “gotcha” interview nor a softball interview. I ask some tough questions (e.g. “If you were reborn as a disabled gay woman in a poor family, what political system would you want in place?”), but my primary goal is to pull out routines, habits, books, etc. that you can use. This show is about actionable insight, not argument for argument’s sake. First and foremost, this is a story of entrepreneurship, and whether you love Glenn, hate Glenn, or have never heard his name, there is a lot to learn from him.

FoA 241: From Drives to Driverless with Craig Rupp of Sabanto
Craig Rupp is the CEO and founder of Sabanto. Prior to founding Sabanto he was a cofounder of 640 Labs where FieldView Drive was originally created. The first part of today’s episode will be about Craig’s journey at 640 Labs and its eventual acquisition by Climate Corp. Despite all of these impressive innovations and industry game-changers, that’s not the only thing he joins us to share about today. His current project, Sabanto, is gaining momentum and continuing to develop its autonomous tractors. “In the last month, I was just amazed as to how mature our software is and how hands-off we have become. The little tractor that we use is very dependable and our software is very mature.” - Craig Rupp The Sabanto tractors can participate in tillage, cultivation and tine weed and are one of the “hardest working tractors in the US” according to Craig. While initially they required intensive monitoring they have continued to develop and allow for more autonomy. By continuing to develop the technology and allowing Sabanto to take care of some procedures, farmers will be able to repurpose labor needs, expenses and focus on their own efficiency. “I think everyone’s waiting around to see what the industry brings them…..I wanted to bring autonomy into agriculture and I wanted to completely change the landscape of agriculture.” - Craig Rupp In conventional farming with large manual equipment, Craig feels that we have “peaked in horsepower” as an industry. While the previous objective for agricultural equipment was to cover as many acres as possible leading to larger equipment, now we see Sabanto prioritizing efficiency, ease of use, connectivity and decreased soil compaction. Craig looks forward to continuing to spread the use of autonomous tractors in more locations and on more operations. This Week on The Future of Agriculture Podcast: * Meet Craig Rupp, founder and CEO of Sabanto * Learn about the journey and major successes Craig has experienced in his career with agriculture technology * Explore the many uses and value Sabanto can bring to a farming operation * Follow Sabanto at @sabantoag on Twitter Join the FOA Community!
