In this podcast, we’re going to talk about dietary fats and what type of fat your body thrives on.  Short-chain fatty acids  These are made from fiber. They feed the colon cells, potentially decrease the risk of cancer, and can help with insulin resistance.  Medium-chain fatty acids  MCT oil is an example of medium-chain fatty acids. Medium-chain fatty acids don’t require bile to be absorbed. This can be a great source of fat for fuel if a person doesn’t have enough bile.  Long-chain fatty acids  These fats provide fuel and certain elements for structural parts of the body, and they also provide essential fatty acids.  A few examples of long-chain fatty acids would be:  • Animal fat   • Butter  • Coconut oil   • Palm oil   • Vegetable oils  • Nut oils   • Omega-3 fatty acids  The most important type of fat that the body needs is omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA). A good portion of the brain, as well as the retinas, needs this type of fat. It’s also anti-inflammatory. You can get omega-3 fatty acids from fish oils, cod liver oil, salmon, and even algae. Other fats will provide energy and feed the colon. But if you lower your carb intake, your body will get its energy from its own body fat, and it won’t be dependent on dietary fat until you run out. AdapNation: all things Self-Optimisation!
#151: Steve's worldview, biases & approach to COVID-19 research
This is a shorter solo podcast, for those interested to know more about the producer of all of AdapNation’s COVID-19 and associated content, and how it’s done. This episode is part confessional, part insight into how I work, and part instructional. It’s great to see our content is helpful and valuable to so many in calibrating their knowledge and perspectives regarding COVID-19, human health and government public health interventions. More and more people are gaining the courage and confidence to share our evidence-based content, set up their own pages and even produce their own analysis. Amazing! But, let’s be clear, we ALL have our biases. You can’t be human and not have your own worldview and biases, that inevitably act as both a map and a lens in which you evaluate and respond to reality. I (Steve) am no exception. So, in an effort to be an open book to our supporters, new followers, and even sceptics of our work, I thought it would be only right to share my health-oriented worldview and known biases. Yep, it’s a laundry list! No doubt you would have experienced my biases in my work, so this is merely a confession to the fact I know that they exist and I try my best to mitigate them. No one is immune to cognitive dissonance, me being no exception. The more open we can be about this, the better we can explore truth versus attempting to bend reality to match our expectations and beliefs of the world. This episode will also let you in to how I further develop my my subject matter knowledge, how I research and investigate issues, how I prevent being in an echo chamber, my approach to content creation, the important aspects of statistician analysis and visualisation, and the common COVID-associated data sources AdapNation frequently use in our work. 374 Roger Nygard | The Truth About Marriage: What Makes Happy Relationships Work & How To Find A Soulmate
"Soulmates are a problematic concept. You have to lower your expectations a little bit because society has given us all these expectations of what the perfect partner is like which are impossible for anyone to meet. It's better to find someone that you can both grow into soulmates over time and look at them from that perspective. Search for someone that you can finally be yourself around without any fear, retribution, or shame. Someone who celebrates who you are is going to want to be with you and you're going to want to be with them." - Roger Nygard Get 15% off your CURED Nutrition order with the code WELLNESSFORCE ---> Get The Morning 21 System: A simple and powerful 21 minute system designed to give you more energy to let go of old weight and live life well.
