210 | Kyree Harvey Induction, Failed Epidural, Episiotomy, Vaginal Delivery After 3CT
Play • 1 hr 19 min
In the final episode of the year, I interview Kyree Harvey about her intense third birth with baby Denver. She made the informed decision to be induced and after a slow build up she fought her way through 40minutes of incredibly painful active labour and delivered Denver amidst the panic of his heart rate plummeting. Kyree bares all in this interview and she shares some really wonderful knowledge and advice about opting for birth preferences over a birth plan, recovering from an episiotomy and severe tear and the importance of seeing a women’s health physiotherapist post-birth, no matter what kind of birth you have (I agree, Kyree!).  You can hear Kyree talk about her first two births in . Her first birth with baby Alaska involved two weeks of false labour, an induction at 39weeks and an episiotomy that took months to heal. In preparation for her second birth, she did a Hypnobirthing Australia course that shifted her mindset around birth and she journeyed into her induction with an incredibly positive and determined perspective. She delivered an 11pound baby boy and suffered a severe 3C tear, an experience that she shares in detail.

Dinesh Palipana // Double degrees, defying the odds and Doctors with Disabilities
Today’s guest was actually a yayborhood nomination from one of our most active contributors affectionately known as Dana Saurus or Dana Pham. Dana so generously sent a whole list of suggestions for guests a while back and this is one that has finally come to fruition. She is the founder of Junior Doctor’s Corner and is a doctor herself working to provide much needed support to junior doctors entering the world of medicine and discuss important topics that are often dismissed or taboo. JDC also has its own podcast so make sure to check that out if there are any other young doctors listening in. Her nomination also hails from the medical world but is not only a doctor, he is one of those rare species who has completed degrees in both medicine AND law – the holy grain combination that very few globally dare to tackle. And if that weren’t enough of a superhuman feat, Dinesh Palipana is also a quadriplegic and disability advocate becoming only the second person with quadriplegia to graduate as a doctor in Australia and the first with a spinal cord injury. Despite a life changing car accident in 2010, Dinesh now works in the Emergency Department of Gold Coast University Hospital and has co-foundedDoctors with Disabilities with two of his colleagues. He tells the story so beautifully himself so I’ll stop there but I hope you find his zest for life and indelible positivity as uplifting as I did. Ps The audio is a bit dicky at times – the joys of Zoom strike again – so excuse a few spots where it’s a bit muffled.

Big Sister Hotline: S2E5, Feat. CARA MACB
CONTENT NOTE: This episode contains discussion of fatphobia, eating disorders and disordered eating, sexual experiences involving men’s desires that may be triggering for some people Hurrah! This week’s episode features the amazing Cara MacB, creator of the brilliant “OBCC Helpline”. As Nanny MacB, she uses TikTok and Instagram to call out fatphobia in an hysterically funny way. We have an incredible conversation in this episode about how people end up co-opted into internalised systems of hatred: internalised fatphobia, misogyny and adherence to patriarchy. Cara and I discuss the choices we can make as parents to change the patterns we both learned about food and bodies when we were growing up and the concept of loving the inside of your body as well as the outside. What does it mean for our relationships with other women - and in particular, our mothers - when we make the (sometimes scary!) choice to walk away from diet culture. From little sisters, we answered questions about what makes a ‘decent’ man (for those of us unfortunate enough to be attracted to them lololol) and what to do if your new boyfriend’s sexual repertoire is not just out of a porn handbook but how self care extends to the kind of sex we’re willing to tolerate.  I really love this episode and I know you will too! LOVE AIN'T ENOUGH PEOPLE
Happy Tuesday Lifers! This is our last episode for a few weeks because it is time for Laura to go and birth a small human! And we can't wait to see the little cherub once it is earth side!! ( We will also see if our recent psychic medium David was correct in his prediction of boy or girl) But we will be back before you know it talking all about Lauras birth story! Ok, so let's talk love! We are brought up being told that "Love is all you need", but the older we get we have to wonder, is it? Now don't get us wrong, you're looking at two of the biggest lovers this side of the border (no, literally, we went on a dating show to find love (successful for one, always too soon for the other) and started a relationships and love podcast because, well, we love love. But we are firm believers that love just isn't enough on its own. In our society and culture, most of us idealise and romanticise relationships and love. We see it as the be all and end all. We are raised with the idea that life involves growing up, getting a job and falling in love. Full stop.  It is portrayed in fairytales, books and movies as part of achieving success. The thing that makes everything better. That heals the pain and makes life easy. In the words of John Lennon, “Love is all we need” But is it!?  If we do walk around with our head in the clouds like Lennon did, we’re more likely to ignore the fundamental values that are crucial to the success and health of a relationship,  things such as honesty, trust, respect, humility, support and commitment towards the person we love. Jump on in as we deep dive into why we think relationships needs more than just those four little letters. If you're still one of those slippery little suckers that have been with us for a long time and haven't left a review, well, why you do us dirty like that!? Please hit subscribe, 5 stars, and share the love, because, well, we love love x Keep your questions rolling in for Ask Uncut and keep delivering those Accidentally Unfiltered's! SEE YOU SOON LOVERS WE MISS YOU ALREADY x
