EP 285: How to Stop Worrying About the People You Love with Lara
This call is about letting go of worry and anxiety. Today’s caller, Lara, has a lot of worry and anxiety when it comes to her kids. She would like guidance on how to tame it and not have it impact her children. When we let worry get the best of us, not only are we raising cortisol levels in our bodies, which is bad for our health, but we are moving out of our resourced state where we have access to intellect and intuition. [For show notes, go here: Christinehassler.com/episode285] When we have a lot of worry and anxiety, it doesn’t do us any good. We become good at imagining worst-case scenarios but the heightened sense of anxiety puts us in the amygdala part of our brain — the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. When we are in that part of our brain, we are not thinking clearly; we are not well resourced. When it comes to keeping ourselves safe and protecting ourselves, being prepared allows us to relax because we have a plan in place. We need to learn to channel the worry into something else — into being productive, being prepared, or deepening our spiritual practice. There is a certainty we get from physical world reality, control, and from seeing things. And, there is a certainty we get from faith. Unfortunately, for most of us, our certainty muscle is based on control. That muscle is much stronger than our faith muscle. Having faith in the universe, higher power, God, or whatever resonates with you, is key in letting go of anxiety and letting go of attachment. Because if there is not something bigger than you that you trust, you will always be addicted to control. You will feel like you have to have your hands on the steering wheel of life at all times. It will be hard to let go. This is why surrender is important. Surrender isn’t about giving up. It is about letting go. In 2013 she published an article entitled “Why it’s Crucial for Women to Heal the Mother Wound” based on a body of work she had been developing for 15 years. And overnight, the article went viral. We received many questions about anxiety, and specifically sleep anxiety, and so for the first time, Ashley is opening up about her life-long journey with sleep anxiety, how she overcame it in 2020 (as part of her 2012 - 2020 Completion Cycle) and shares a variety of different methods to heal anxiety. Do you have thoughts on how to weave between motherhood and guiding our small children who are very connected, clear and aware? 6. If I have anxiety in my life, I tend to have nightmares or unstable dreaming that affect my sleep. I also feel like there are energies or spirits that are disturbing my sleep and my mind when I’m trying to rest. What can I do? 7. How do I find the balance between fulfilling my soul’s purpose while also having my human experience? I sometimes feel very torn or even guilty for having aspirations of being an artist and starting my own business but also trying to understand what it means to live in my Line. Do you have any advice on how to understand where that balance is? 8. I’m curious about injury in the body and how the Pinnacle sees that. I went in my Records this morning and they laughed at me and said “you just need to slow down.” I'm curious about your thoughts on this. 9. Everyone wants connection — we’re hardwired for it as humans! But we can only connect as deeply with others as we’ve connected with ourselves. Strong relationships start by going within, feeling our emotions and being willing to open up and share with our partners. On this week’s podcast, I have a very, very special guest...my husband! We’re talking with you today together and sharing some very personal details about our marriage and how feeling emotions has changed our relationship for the better. Graham comes from a background where emotions weren’t expressed, and I come from an Italian family that was very expressive. For so many years, we both saw the other as not emotional enough or too emotional. Learning to feel, honor and share our emotions has deepened our connection so much and been so transformational for us. In this episode, Graham shares what helped him learn to process his emotions, how that’s changed his response to different situations and the changes we’ve both seen in our relationship.
