Welcome back to Adventure Parenting with Grace Podcast, with host, Laurie Donahue.
This week we are starting a new series entitled, Rest During the Holidays, Seriously? The way our culture tells us how to rest and God's desired rest for us are very different. During the next 3 weeks, we will explore the true rest that God leads us into. Erik Anderson, our featured guest this week, is a pastor, husband, and father of four delightful kids. My conversations with Erik over 3 weeks are outlined below.

Foster care and adoption have become an answered prayer for so many children. In 2023, there have been 391,000 children in the foster care system. So many children may be victims of abuse or neglect. So many families are stepping up to care for these children.
Heather Fowler tells a beautiful story about how her family answered God's call to be the hands and feet of Jesus through foster care. 63. Christian Character and Sports (part 3), with Kevin Bailey
We're in a series called, the Christian and Sports. If you've heard the last few weeks you know that we're going over the three C's that are the basis for KidStrength4Life ministry. They are Christ-identity, Character, and Communication. The first three podcasts in Season 2 were about Christ-identity. If you haven't heard those episodes, I highly suggest you go back and listen!
Today we are listening to the third podcast in the series on character. An excellent place to form character is on a sports field! We had four daughters who all played Sports in some way as kids. It contributed so much to building their character! The highs and lows of failure and victory were all compacted into about an hour-and-a-half game! From the excitement of coming in first in their league to missing the final free throw that determines the championship game, they felt it all.
To bring character building under our Christ identity builds an internal strength that will last a lifetime and impact others for eternity!
Kevin Bailey is the lead pastor at Anthem Church in Camarillo. So let's welcome Kevin Bailey as he talks about the Christian and sports.

Summer is almost here! And maybe it is already here for you! How do we keep our kids busy all summer and wouldn't it be great if were able to grow in different ways as they did their activities? Maybe they could grow in several areas. Here are a few:
* Young ones could learn shapes and colors
* Young ones could do a picture search on each page
* Kids could learn how we work together and remain different at the same time
* Kids could use their imaginations in creative projects
* Kids could learn how God can use them in different ways

Do you (or your child) ever sit on the sidelines because you are afraid to jump in the game? I think this is universal, but this is not God's plan for us. After all, he has told us that we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10) We are going to lighten things up this week and explore through a picture book reading and activities, two ideas.

We have a great podcast this morning and a bit different from previous podcasts because we get to hear a different perspective. Michael Kilpatrick is a dad. I talked to someone who knows him well and recommended him because she said he is such a good parent.
Michael Kilpatrick is a farmer, podcast host, and inventor who helps farmers and others apply business principles and practical, proven solutions to grow their businesses and simplify their lives. He runs farmer training programs and he owns and operates the Farm on Central in Ohio.
Besides growing farmers and their businesses, he incorporates his faith in his daily life, and being a good dad to his growing family is a priority as well. Michael shares his thoughts and experiences in parenting. I really enjoyed talking to him as he was transparent with us and had some very interesting thoughts.
