Twenty-sixteen has been a pretty shitty year all round, hasn’t it? I mean, there was a time when celebrities were cowering behind old ladies fearing that the Grim Reaper might point his boney finger in their direction. We lost so many greats this year. To name but a few: Bowie, Prince, Muhammad Ali, Alan Rickman, Victoria Wood, and the great Terry Wogan, bless him.
This is only the second podcast this year and I must apologise but I’ve had my own craziness to deal with. Lots of things have been happening both professionally and personally so it hasn’t been easy to actually find the time to record a podcast. Much as I’ve longed too. Thankfully now that things are looking like they’re starting to calm down a bit, I’ve managed to find the time. Sometimes you just have to press pause on life and do the things you’ve been putting off for ages.
Why Phoenix? Well, I’m hoping that 2017 will rise from the flames and ashes of a crap 2016 and be much, much better than this year. I’m being optimistic; the wine glass is half full. I like to think of this mix as a mix of two halves. The first is soft and gentle, the second half is a bit more hard and rough. It’s a bit like life this year. Enough with the metaphors already.
This one has got lots of re-works/re-releases of 90s classics so I couldn’t resist throwing them in, they always inspire me to dance. But there’s also lots of new stuff too. I hope you enjoy it and I hope I can bring you more mixes a bit more regularly soon.
