Meaningful Tech Integration with Dr. Royce Kimmons
In this episode, I chat with the creator of the PIC-RAT Technology Integration Matrix, Dr. Royce Kimmons. I loved our conversation about how to effectively integrate technology to create meaningful transformative learning experiences for our students. You will be so inspired by all that Royce has to share.
Royce is an assistant professor of Instructional Psychology & Technology at Brigham Young University. He received his Ph.D from The University of Texas at Austin and has had previous appointments as a post-doctoral researcher at UT-Austin, as an assistant professor and director at the University of Idaho, and as a high school language arts teacher in Klamath Falls, Oregon. As a researcher and teacher educator, he has authored over 100 journal articles and book chapters, including many widely used open textbook chapters for teachers on EdTechBooks.org. He has also received numerous awards for his work including several young scholar, outstanding research, and best paper awards. His work has also been featured in various prominent news outlets, including EDUCAUSE, National Public Radio, Times Higher Education, CNET, and EdSurge. Royce’s scholarly work focuses on open education, social media, learning analytics, and classroom technology use. In 2016, he presented the PICRAT model for technology integration at the U.S. White House. He is also the founder of EdTechBooks.org and EquityPress.org, which are open textbook publishing platforms, and he serves on the school board for Mountain Heights Academy, which is the top-ranked online charter school in the State of Utah. He lives in Utah with his wife and three daughters, who are all brilliant and wonderful and who always keep him on his toes.
