Episode 19: Eric Peronnard - FIM E-Xplorer and the future of Supercross
Eric Peronnard is the mind responsible for thinking, promoting, and organizing events such as Paris Supercross, Endurocross, and X Games Moto X.
Most recently, Peronnard was part of the FIM E-Xplorer's inception. The electric dirt bike championship mixes different disciplines into a new racing format.
But that is not the first time Peronnard was involved with electric motorcycles. Peronnard promoted the first electric race with motocross riders back in 2008.
Very few people have done as many things in the motocross industry as Peronnard. And he is the guest on this episode of Zev. News Moto Podcast. The conversation comprised FIM E-Xplorer, electric dirt bikes, and the Future of Supercross.

Episode 18: Lourenço Brothers - RTR, The Brazilian Electric Scrambler
Retrorides is a well-known name in the custom motorcycle scene. The shop has outstanding petrol motorcycle projects in the records.
But the brothers behind Retrorides, Gustavo and Fernando Lourenço, always had a dream. Build a motorcycle from the ground up.
That was the push for the spin-off branch called RTR. And the move was bold! Instead of ICE motorcycles, they decided to take the electric path. The outcome is the Scrambler 799e.
The bike attracted many eyeballs and triggered a chain reaction that led the brothers to envision bikes produced at scale to bite a chunk of Brazilian premium motorcycle share.
To catch up about how the journey has started, the main challenges to diving into such a venture in Brazil, and the roadmap to deliver the first bikes, I talked with Fernando and Gustavo Lourenço.

Episode 17: François-Xavier Terny - Fuell Mobility CEO
François Terny is the CEO of Fuell Mobility. The startup was born with a strong heritage: the legendary Eric Buell as its CTO. Besides, Fred Vasseur, the Ferrari F1 Team Principal, was part of the endeavor during its inception.
Fuell came up to solve urban mobility issues. The company has two platforms in its portfolio: the urban electric bicycle Flluid and the electric motorcycle Fllow.
Fllow is under development, and 2024 is the forecast for the first deliveries. The value proposition is an urban motorcycle that is easy but fun to ride, balanced in handling, and upgradable in terms of, let's say, hardware.
But the talk with Terny also comprised the origins of Fuell, how electrification allows young companies to rethink the motorcycle in its very concept, and how this new kind of vehicle is an efficient solution for daily commutes in big cities.
Plus, there are a lot of takeaways about innovation, electric motorcycles' technical aspects, and how the industry is changing.

Episode 16: Marko Ukota - Flux Motorcycles CEO
Marko Ukota is leading an ambitious project: develop, build, and fit an electric motorcycle in the dirt bike market.
Dubbed Primo, the Slovenian project aims to offer enticing attributes: 85 HP, a quickly swappable 7 kWh battery pack, and even a virtual clutch. That is a software solution providing the mechanical clutch feeling without the maintenance and other disadvantages intrinsic to the physical component.
Ukota and Flux still have a long road ahead. The plan is to deliver the first bikes in 2025. Recently, they reached a milestone in presenting the working prototype.

Episode 15: Aaron Colton - The overall rider (and now also electric rider)
Aaron Colton is one of a kind rider. Skilled on and out of the bike.
Colton can be defined as an overall rider, with decent bike-building abilities, and prone to explore new possibilities.
Those features merged into his electric venture. Aaron built what is possibly the coolest Alta Redshift on earth, rode the bike inside places like Corning Museum of Glass and Minneapolis Skyway, and faced challenges that no other rider had before.
The ride and its challenges were the starting point for the interview. Which unfolded to comprise the specifics of electric bike riding, bike building, and what Aaron has in mind for the next endeavors.

Episode 14: Brian Wismann - Lightfighter Designer and VP of Product Development at Zero Motorcycles
Very few people can say they have as much experience in the electric motorcycle industry as Brian Wismann. His electric journey started over 15 years ago, at the extinguished American company Brammo.
Wismann is also passionate about racing. And he led some of the very first electric ventures on tracks. Including iconic races such as the Isle of Man and Pikes Peak.
Since 2017, Brian has been the VP of Product Development at Zero Motorcycles. That means leading dozens of people, working on different projects simultaneously, without losing sight of what customers want.
Even with so many daily tasks, Wismann found time for the side project named Lightfighter. A racing motorcycle designed to show the electric propulsion capabilities and race along with the 600 Supersport bikes. Sometimes, even beat them.

Episode 13: Livia Cevolini - Energica Motor CEO
Livia Cevolini, the CEO of Energica Motor, is our guest on this episode of Zev.News Moto Podcast.
The Italian company was founded in the early 2010s. Boasting an audacious mission: produce premium electric motorcycles. At the time, the EV industry was still in its infancy. And that imposed all sorts of challenges for the endeavor.
That was the starting point for the talk with Cevolini. The CEO revealed how the need to reinvent the family business became an opportunity. Which later would evolve into a fast-growing business.
Energica surpassed the initial hurdles. Now, the future seems bright. And holds opportunities beyond the motorcycle industry as well. The Energica journey exceeds the company itself. Is an important part to understand how the electric motorcycle industry progressed in the past decade.

Episode 11: Jonas Lindberg - CEO of STILRIDE
In the Zev.News Moto Podcast 11 our guest is Jonas Lindberg.
Lindberg is the CEO and one of the two founders of StilRIDE. The Swedish electric motorcycle startup hit the mobility space with the visually audacious SUS(1).
And there is way more than the look. StilRIDE uses an innovative process dubbed StilFOLD to build those curves and lines. In short, StilFOLD might be described as futurist origami with metal sheets.
But how scalable is StilFOLD? How expensive is that compared to other processes? Has StilRIDE plans for a bigger bike?
Lindberg answered all the questions in the podcast.

Episode 10: Philippe Stella and Vincent Nagels - Trevor Motorcycles
Founded by Philippe Stella and Vincent Nagels, Trevor is a Belgian electric motorcycle company that hand-builds the DTRe Stella.
The bike is a light dirt tracker (101kg), full of top-notch parts, and boasts Sarolea technology in the chassis.
Plus, it has the "cool factor", good speed on tracks, and it’s a lot of fun to ride!

Episode 9: Hugo Eccles - Untitled Motorcycles
Hugo Eccles is an industrial and motorcycle designer. He is the co-founder of the Untitled Motorcycles workshop.
Eccles built a solid reputation in the custom motorcycle scene due to creations such as the Ducati Hyper Scrambler.
Most recently, Eccles decided to explore electric motorcycles. And the first project was the XP Zero. The bike uses the Zero SR/F as its base, and the cutting-edge look granted more than a dozen design prizes.
To find out what pushed Eccles towards electric bikes, what kind of freedom electrification gives him as a designer, and his upcoming projects, I had a nice talk with Eccles.

Episode 7: Alvaro dal Farra - Ride Everything!
Alvaro dal Farra is an iconic personality in the freestyle motocross scene. A former professional snowboarder, the Italian moved his stamina to dirt bikes.
As a freestyle rider, dal Farra reached the apex. The Red Bull X-Fighters.
But a backflip crash stopped his career too soon.
After the crash, he became an X-Fighters judge, and a motocross coach, and started many projects. Like working on custom dirt bikes.
Not long ago dal Farra started riding electric dirt bikes. And he has some green plans on the horizon.

Episode 1: Chris Bruand - The electric rider pioneer
Chris Bruand is a skilled trial rider. And a pioneer in electric motorcycling riding.
For more than a decade, Bruand has been riding bikes made by Electric Motion.
If you don’t know the brand, that is a French company in the electric motorcycles business since 2009.
Bruand helps with development, tests, and works as a brand ambassador.
A few weeks ago, the French rider raced an Electric Motion Escape in the E-Xplorer test event. The new off-road electric bike series is set to start in 2023.
