Talking the Unconscious with Dr. Nicole Lepera "The Holistic Psychologist"
Play • 1 hr

In this episode, Dr. Courtney Tracy hosts Dr. Nicole Lepera, known on social media as "The Holistic Psychologist", to discuss how the unconscious plays a role in healing work and reparenting ourselves. Dr. Nicole LePera was trained in clinical psychology at Cornell University and the New School for Social Research. She also studied at the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis. As a clinical psychologist in private practice, Dr. Nicole LePera often found herself frustrated by the limitations of traditional psychotherapy. Wanting more for her patients— and for self— she began a journey to develop a united philosophy of mental, physical, and spiritual health that equips people with the tools necessary to heal themselves. She is the creator of the #SelfHealers movement where people from around the world are joining together in community to take healing into their own hands. Her first book, How to Do the Work, is currently in pre-order with a release date of March 2021.

Dr. Courtney Tracy and Dr. Nicole Lepera discuss the following in this episode:

- How Dr. Lepera's unconscious was showing up in her life in her past

- Dr. Nicole's relationship with her unconscious today at this point in her healing/career

- How the unconscious can show up in our childhood

- How the unconscious can show up in the process of reparenting

- How unconscious beliefs, thoughts and traumas can prevent people from taking the leap into self-healing and whether we believe we can or not

- Interventions Dr. Nicole uses that have helped and continue to help her in her life

If you feel like your unconscious is showing up in childhood memories and daily habits, this episode may help you. If you have someone in your life that is feeling like their childhood is holding them back and you want to understand what might be going on in their mind, this episode may help you. If you want to hear more of Dr. Nicole's story and how it relates to the unconscious, this episode is for you.

Podcast 53 – Meghan & Harry support volunteers on Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service.
LA volunteer veterans with the US non-profit The Mission Continues were treated to lunch by Meghan and Harry, with the lunch catered by women from another of Harry and Meghan's favourite non-profits, Homeboy Industries. Per their website, The Mission Continues is for all veterans with a desire to continue their service to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. The non-profit works by connecting veterans with under-resourced communities, with veterans 'deployed' to volunteer alongside non-profit partners and community leaders. The Mission Continues organize what they call service platoons. These platoons not only allow veterans to connect with and to socialize with other veterans living close by, but collectively allow the veterans to connect with their communities and work to have an impact in what they describe as real and tangible ways.  *Taking place each third Monday in January, the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is the only US federal holiday observed as a national day of service.* The day celebrates the life and legacy of the Civil Rights leader and exists to move the nation closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community” by encouraging all Americans to take the time to volunteer and invest in their communities. The Mission Continues are acknowledging the importance of The Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service for the whole of the month of January. * They state that The Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service is a day 'we salute those who fought, and continue to fight, for equality and justice both in and out of uniform.'* In was in light of these volunteering efforts that Meghan and Harry sent lunch to the LA service platoon just ahead of the federal holiday. The volunteers at The Mission Continues in LA posted a copy of the Thank You note that accompanied the lunch that Meghan and Harry donated on their social media sites. The volunteers responded to the note by saying that they felt truly honoured to have the support of Meghan and Harry. Work in Progress with Sophia Bush
Work in Progress with Sophia Bush
Cloud10 & iHeartRadio
Today on Work in Progress, Sophia is joined by Arezu ( @inspire_zu)! Arezu has been practicing yoga and meditation since she was a small child and now teaches various forms of yoga in Los Angeles such as Kundalini, Vinyasa, And Pi-Yo, which is a combination of Yoga and Pilates. At the age of just 14, Arezu became the youngest KRI certified Kundalini teacher in the US. And while her passion for yoga has led her to bring her teachings to collegiate athletes and employees of various government buildings like the Veterans Medical Center and the World Bank, Arezu is far more than a yoga teacher. Her studies at George Washington University had an acute focus on the more humanitarian aspects of International Affairs, and her own humanitarian efforts started even earlier than that. She served as an Ambassador to Healing Bridges from 2007-2012, during which time she raised over $130,000 to build a girl’s school in Sudan, later helping to build a school in Guatemala as well. In 2009, she was awarded the Cynthia Harrell Horn Humanitarian Award. Today, Arezu is dedicated to pushing her students beyond their limitations, as she strives to do in her own life. On today’s episode, Sophia and Arezu discuss what it’s like to be immersed in yoga and meditation as a child, the freedom of showing up as your authentic self, and having an attitude of service in everything you do. Arezu also leads a short mantra meditation that you can try along with Sophia.
