We start this show by asking our own host Shaun Benson "The 10 Questions", then we get to chatting with Chris "The Polish Hammer" Horodecki. Chris began in martial arts at the age of 13 when he attended a seminar with Shawn Tompkins, and became addicted. A polish-Canadian fighter and a native of London, ON, his career started shortly after his 18th birthday with TKO victory. He holds a professional career record of 30 matches with 21 wins. He has competed for the WEC, the IFL, Bellator, TKO Major League MMA, and Palace Fighting Championship. Today, Chris is a Coach and gym co-owner at Adrenaline MMA.

PKCC Episode 95 - Gary Hails
Join us this week on PKCC as we sit down with Sensei Gary Hails. In 1979, Bill Hind, Gary Hails, and others presented the Robert Dalgleish memorial tournament. In the 1980’s, Gary Hails, Cezar Borkowski, and Bill Hind formed an association, called the Southern Ontario Karate Association, to share and teach each other their styles of karate. In 1990, Sensei Wilfred Seerattan began training and teaching with Sensei Gary Hails at his club “Toronto Shotokan Karate Dojo.” In addition to his martial arts experience, Sensei Gary Hails has also worked at Toronto Fire Services as a firefighter, and encouraged one of his students, Robert John Bygrave, to become one, who later got promoted to the rank of a Captain.

PKCC Episode 94 - Ron Fagan
Join us this week on PKCC as we sit down with Sensei Ron Fagan. Sensei Ron Fagan began his martial arts career in 1973 when he attended a free trial class for karate and decided he was going to do this for the rest of his life. Sensei Fagan earned his Shodan from Sensei Masamai Tsuruoka in 1976, and became a member of the Nova Scotia Provincial Karate Team. In 1978 he won the Black Belt kumite division of the Maritime Karate Championships, and became the first Atlantic Canadian Karate-ka to compete at the Pan American Karate Championships. As a coach, in 1987, he led Team Nova Scotia to a national title. In 1997, Sensei Tsuruoka asked him to establish the National Tsuruoka Federation and was appointed its Chief Technical Advisor. Sensei Fagan has also developed and implemented various anti-bullying and Women’s Rape Awareness Training Programs, and in addition is known for his work with Community-Based Programs such as the “Kids Against Drugs” initiative and the “Victory Team Program”.

Join us as we sit down with Sensei Bill Wolfe, a decorated military veteran, retired Municipal police officer, 8th dan in Hapkido, and founder of Wolfe's Combatives. Sensei Wolfe began his martial arts career in 1962 at the age of eight with Judo and Jujitsu lessons offered in Revelstoke, British Columbia. He joined the military in 1968 and over the years has been a certified "use of force" instructor, Emergency Response Team and SWAT Team leader and instructor. He also has several television credits to his name with shows that have aired on History Television.

PKCC Episode 91 - Chris Hanson
Join us this week on PKCC as we sit down with Sensei Chris Hanson. Sensei Hanson is based out of Toronto, Canada and has studied martial arts for over 40 years. In addition to his 3rd Dan (2014) in Nisei Kempo Karate, Sensei Hanson also holds black belts in several systems and has cross-trained in numerous arts. He teaches private lessons to small groups and also local and international seminars. Outside of martial arts he is a husband, father, former software developer, blogger, podcaster and is currently an elementary school teacher. Chris Hanson started his YouTube channel, Karate Unity in 2018, and since then it has grown to over 2,000 subscribers with his videos having more than 130,000 views.

PKCC Episode 90 - Jamie Seabrook
Join us this week on PKCC as we sit down with Sensei Jamie Seabrook. Sensei Seabrook has been training in American Kenpo for 38 years and received his 8th degree black belt under Grandmaster Larry Tatum in October 2020. Sensei Seabrook also received his black belt in Modern Arnis under Grandmaster Remy Presas (1991), and a black belt in Black Dragon Kung Fu under Master Paul Chau (1994). Jamie Seabrook is a Blue Belt Stripe 2 in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu under Rener Gracie and Ryron Gracie (2018). His dojo, Seabrook Martial Arts Academy, has been in consistent operation in London, Ontario, since 1995. All classes are taught by Sensei Seabrook and unlike many schools that will promote young children to black belt, Seabrook Martial Arts Academy commits to earning one’s rank through years of rigorous application and commitment. The dojo focus is on street self-defense, not sport. In addition to American Kenpo training, students are also taught effective kickboxing and ground-fighting.
Outside the dojo, Sensei Seabrook holds a PhD in the Department of Sociology at Western University and is the Chair and Professor in the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences.

Join us this week on PKCC as we sit down with Sensei Paul Bonner. Sensei Bonner is a former European Heavyweight Kickboxing Champion, Police Officer, Use of Force instructor, and founder and president of Proactive Threat Management. He is a team leader in the Defensive Tactics Section at Ontario Police College, trained security at Bruce Nuclear Power Plant since 9/11, and has also trained other Defensive Tactics with the Ontario Provincial Police.
Paul Bonner has been recommended by the people he has worked with and instructed, many noting his knowledge of Martial Arts, his ability to deliver the information in a professional manner, and his ability to provide relevant training to both recruit and experienced Police Officers. Hayes, who has spent his entire adult life in the pursuit of perfection through the study of the Asian martial arts and spiritual traditions, living and traveling throughout North America, Japan, Europe, the Arctic, China, Tibet, Nepal, and India. Sensei Hayes traveled to Japan in the 1970s and began training under Tsunehisa Tanemura when they met in June 1975. Later, he trained under Masaaki Hatsumi, who referred to himself as the 34th Grandmaster of Togakure-ryū ninjutsu and is the founder of the Bujinkan organization. Join us in our first episode of 2023 as we sit down with Master George Rego, Chief Instructor at the Jukido Jujitsu Academy in Florida. Master Rego holds a 5th Dan in Jukido Jujitsu and a 3rd Dan in Kokondo Karate. Master Rego has competed in many tournaments, and is a 7-time gold medalist in the International Karate Association shiai, and in 2015 he became the AAU National Freestyle Judo Champion in the Master’s Lightweight division.

Join us as we sit down with Grand Master Alex Atkinson, a 10th dan with over 50 years of experience in arts ranging from Shotokan, Kenpo Karate, Judo, Five-Animal Kung Fu, Kickboxing, and others. Grand Master Atkinson is a multi-time national and international karate champion in both kata and kumite, and hosts a number of additional accolades, including as a Senior Official and Tatami Events Ambassador for WAKO Canada.
Grand Master Atkinson was also inducted into the Canadian Black Belt Hall of Fame in 2017. He founded the Black Belt Institute in 1980 and continues to teach in Toronto, Canada.

Join us this week on the PKCC podcast as we chat with Devon Harris, a member of the original 1988 Jamaican bobsleigh team and former martial artist.
Devon Harris, the three-time Olympian (1988, 1992 & 1998) grew up in poverty in Kingston, Jamaica before using sport to find success in life. He graduated from the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in England and served as an officer in the Jamaica Defence Force. Having completed his officer training at Sandhurst in August of 1986, Devon was recovering from a broken ankle sustained in a parachute accident, and he still managed to score the fastest push time during the team selections at the National Stadium.
Harris now uses his Olympic experience to inspire others, working as a motivational speaker and having written a children’s book on the story of the Jamaican bobsleigh team. PKCC Episode LXXX: Michael DeMarco
Join us in our 80th episode of PKCC as we sit down with Master Michael DeMarco, who runs the Winged Lion School of Tai Chi in Sante Fe, New Mexico. DeMarco began his study of martial arts with the Chinese-Indonesian hybrid style of kuntao-silat in 1965 in the lineage of Willem Reeders and has studied tai chi under masters in Taiwan, including Yang Qingyu and Du Yuze. Master DeMarco also holds a masters degree in Asian Studies from Seton Hall University and is an accomplished author and academic. He is the author of "Martial Art Essays from Beijing, 1760," and has appeared in a few national television documentaries about martial arts. Master DeMarco founded Via Media Publishing Company in 1991.

Join us as we chat with Hanshi George Alexander, a 10th Dan Shorinji Ryu JuJitsu Master and an inductee into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 1991. Currently he is the president of both International Shorinji-Ryu Jujitsu and Shorin Ryu Karate Kobudo Federation. Hanshi Alexander began training in Judo and Jujitsu in 1960, and later in Shorin Ryu Karate in 1964 while serving in the United States Marine Corps. His Marine Corps assignments enabled him to travel to mainland Japan, Okinawa and Southeast Asia. Chet Schemahorn started his training in May of 1995 watching VHS instructional tapes released by Rorion & Royce Gracie, after witnessing Royce revolutionize martial arts in the early days of the UFC, and then attending 2 day seminars with Royce in Columbus, Ohio. Due to financial limitations, Chet could only go to the Gracie Academy for 1 week visits 4 times a year. He would take what he learned each time and show his close friends, always correcting mistakes and adding new techniques. Join us as we chat with Shifu Lorne Bernard, an internationally renowned traditional Kung Fu master and Canadian Black Belt Hall of Fame inductee in 2019. Shifu Bernard has been involved in traditional Chinese martial arts since 1983 and was president of The Eastern Canada Chinese Martial Arts Federation between 1994 and 2010. He is a disciple of 4th generation Grand-master Lee Joo-Chian and is also the official heir of the Flying Crane branch tradition of Fujian White Crane Kung Fu. Shifu Lorne Bernard is also very adept in self-defense and versed in the use of more than 18 types of traditional weaponry, Chinese medicine, internal work, etc. He presently teaches at the international headquarters of the White Crane Kung Fu Academy in the city of Laval, Quebec, Canada.
Notably, Shifu Bernard has also written 3 books on the White Crane style (including one with Grandmaster Lee), authored several published articles, and produced a 2 DVD set on the style.

Join us as we chat with Sensei Sam Larioza, Owner and Chief Instructor at Ohana Karate. Sensei Larioza's martial arts training started in 1992 in Morio Higaonna Sensei's karate dojo in San Diego. Sensei Corley is a 10th Degree Black Belt and Master Instructor at Atlanta Extreme Warrior. Sensei Joe Corley began studying Tang Soo Do at age 16. At 19 he earned his black belt and opened his first martial arts studio. He won many US National Karate Grand Championships from 1977 to 1987 and opened Atlanta's first karate studio in 1987 in which he founded Joe Corley's American Karate System in 1992. He was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 1996, was the Canadian National Karate team head coach from 1994 to 1999, and in 2002, Sensei Jones graduated from the National Coaching Institute as a Level 4 coach (NCCP). Sensei Brad Jones also had a very successful competitive career both nationally and internationally, as he competed in the National Black Belt Championships for nine consecutive years, winning three gold medals and two silver medals. Join us as we chat with Sensei John Gage, an all around martial artist, a 7th Dan in Nihon Jujutsu, 4th Dan in Judo - International Martial Arts Federation (IMAF) and 3rd Dan Judo in All Japan Judo Federation (AJJF) system. Sensei Gage is one of the world's foremost non-Japanese leaders in traditional, heritage martial arts and currently the head of the aforementioned Nihon Jujutsu system. In 1986, he moved to Japan in order to dedicate himself to the study of traditional Japanese martial arts and upon arrival in Tokyo, Gage-Sensei joined the US Embassy Judo Club under Sensei Sato Shizuya. In 1989 Sensei Gage received the Bokon Korosho - an award for contributions to the martial arts, and in 1999 placed 1st in the IMAF International Kata Contest. Currently he is a contributor to the Nihon Jujutsu manual, and an editor to the IMAF Gendo newsletter.

Hanshi Sailly started Judo with his father at the age of 5, and mainly studied traditional martial arts of Japanese origin.
