How To Set Goals When the World is a Mess
It’s natural, at this time of year, to think about what we want to do, achieve and be. Whether in our workouts, our work lives - or just regarding our relationship with ourselves. But with so much uncertainty, national lockdowns and a news cycle that’s enough to make anyone want to retreat back under the duvet, making plans, plotting goals and actually achieving them is tougher than ever. When we polled our audience on Instagram, over half of people said the sheer mental load of 2021 had sapped their motivation to set and strive for their health goals. If you’ve got no time or energy for self-improvement right now, that’s totally understandable. But, if you do, committing to small changes in your own little world could be of real benefit during this wild moment we're living through. But how do you choose goals that you love too much bail on? What can you do to ensure you’re striving for improvement in as kind a way as possible? And how do you keep yourself focused and on-mission, in the midst of…*all this*? These are among the questions we grapple with in today’s conversation, with help from Dr Anita Aitsi-Selmi, a medical doctor and public health expert-turned-transformational coach to leaders in medicine, law and business, and author of The Success Trap. Along with Dr Heather McKee, a psychologist and behaviour change specialist who helps companies and individuals make healthy changes, and make them last, with her Bite Sized Habits course. Topics: Don't set goals until you've done a mental declutter  How to do an energy audit to work out what you need The case for setting intrinsic goals Don’t love goals? Try rituals instead Why self-kindness leads to more success Like what you’re hearing? We'd love if you could rate and leave us a review on Apple Podcasts, as it really helps other people find the show. How to make your peace of mind a priority with Sheri Riley
Sheri Riley says that peace is the new success and we need to make it our highest priority. I absolutely love that and I’m so pleased she joined me for such a powerful and uplifting conversation on the Motherkind podcast. We think that pursuing peace means that we need to calm down or slow down. She says the opposite is true and that the power of peace is what is going to enhance our lives and fill the void. Real, internal, palpable, and substantive peace. I could list a dozen more bullets about what we dug into, here are just a few: - Sheri's breakdown to breakthrough - How Sheri did a 360-degree transformation of her life - How to put interconnectedness and calm first - Why is peace the new success - How do you stop putting 100% of your time on 10% of who you are expecting 100% of your fulfillment - How do you love the career you have and your life Big gratitude to Zendium for supporting me and the podcast. Finding the Right Language to Share Our Superpowers as HSPs with Willow and Julie
As many of us didn’t receive the right training we needed as children in order to really understand our trait as HSPs, we can often take for granted the gifts it gives us. This can mean that we tend to focus on the challenges rather than the advantages. Since the trait enables us to process sensory data more deeply the way this actualizes as higher sensory abilities can be very rewarding. Whilst we may be aware of these abilities to an extent we often gloss over them in the way they were when we were children. In reality, these abilities are deeply aligned with our gifts, what’s most important to us and what makes us great at what we do. When we find the right language to share them it’s much easier to bring them into service for our benefit and the benefit of others. Join us this week as we continue the conversation about learning to normalize the high sensory abilities we are born with and how to bring them into conscious ownership. HSPs are more intuitive, empathic, creative, and have extra special abilities. Recognize your value and embrace and honor your gifts!  Give this Letter to your Medical and Mental Health Practitioners about the trait Please share and review this Podcast to help other HSPs.
