Mindset is a perception and a cultivation of habits - sometimes, it’s difficult to put into words what mindset can really do for your outlook, mood, health, so many things in your life. As we know it, life happens and it’s okay to say “NO” and it’s true: “No” is a complete sentence and does not need an explanation. It’s how we say it.

TwoSistas and it’s the first day of Spring on this MindsetMonday, March 20, 2023. Janis is still bundled up in the Northeast and Carroll-Sue was sporting a light-weight long sleeved shirt! Two different climates! On this first day of Spring, we are reminded how our mindset is the key with anything that we do in life.
You can plan out your day a certain way but when things go awry, how does that affect your overall mindset, your mood and how your perception of how your day was supposed to be? In Janis’ case, the electric company was parked out front and ready to begin their work to replace the utility pole which meant she would be out of power for a while.
Through crazy hectic schedules comes the beauty of what and how we do our respective business with TwoSistas and how each of us works through the entrepreneurship field of our own businesses. We truly are blessed - even when things go haywire!

MindsetMonday with Lyn Delmastro-Thomson - 03.13.23
TwoSistas welcomed to today’s podcast on this MindsetMonday, March 13, 2023, Lyn Delmastro-Thomson. Lyn is a certified hypnotist, energy healer, and entrepreneur for the past 13 years. While attending undergraduate school, Lyn had opted for elective surgery. During the pre-op tests, there was an issue with Lyn’s blood work. At that time, she was diagnosed with leukemia.
This life-changing dramatic diagnosis had a major impact on her life. She underwent 3-years of chemo treatment; however, despite the fact that her blood work was starting to look better, her health further declined and this deeply affected her mindset. She lost an extreme amount of weight and of course reported this all to her physicians. Lyn instinctively knew that something was just not right. Thankfully, she followed her instinct!

Her story began at a young age. Jenny lost both of her parents way too soon. Her Mom was 52 when she passed and her Dad was 61. Each of her parents had health issues and this of course weighed heavy on her mind. (Her Mom had breast cancer and her Dad died of a massive heart attack - he also had diabetes and kidney disease associated with the diabetes.)
It wasn’t until about 5 years ago after she and her husband and family moved to Arizona that she began to “slow down”. Now slowing down and getting situated in a new State can be a good thing! First of all, what is IBS? Irritable Bowel Syndrome - for many, it’s a disorder or a disease. Either way, it’s no fun and a big disruptor of your 2nd brain, your gut. TwoSistas and it’s MindsetMonday this December 5, 2022 (the first Monday of December). As we start to wind down this year, it’s important to take time to take care of yourself! Sometimes we listen to the cues our body sends us and sometimes, well, we just keep plugging through.
Our Mindset is always the key but how do we keep going? Maybe it’s something as simple as asking yourself a question. For instance, why ask why? Janis asked herself this question the other day and found the key was not to ask “why ask why” but rather to ask, “what can I learn from this”.
Cues, algorithms, Twitter oh my and yes; it’s just better to listen to the whole podcast!!

Jen started her renal nutrition journey working in dialysis. It was there that Jen listened to the fears and regrets from her dialysis patients over and over. They wished they had the information and support earlier in their CKD (chronic kidney disease) journey to prevent dialysis. It was then that Jen founded Plant-Powered Kidneys.
We normally go throughout our lives not realizing the importance of our kidneys or even thinking of our kidney health before it’s too late. There are so many outside mitigating factors as we age gracefully such as high blood pressure, diabetes and a whole gamut of other medical conditions that weaken and ultimately lead to CKD.

Also, it’s turn back the clock’s (1) hour on Sunday, November 6th at 2am EST - remember “Fall” back (you gain (1) hour); “Spring” forward (you loose an hour) - so technically speaking, this is the only time of the year that you can gain an extra hour!! What will you do with it?
Why celebrating those wins are “fantabulous”, sometimes what we may deem as the “fail” or we experience a derailment which can actually be a good thing - it’s the process of redirecting energy that may lead us to a different path!!

In the midst of the workout, gloves still on, always show up authentically you. It’s National Epilepsy Awareness Month and National Vegan Month. A discussion about the in’s and out’s of being Vegan and how reading the labels will clue you in.
A lot of Vegan products for instance are not gluten free. Consuming a gluten free product does not mean it’s Vegan. The importance of reading the product labels is the key!
A little nothing about something: what’s up with the tags on the pillows and mattresses? Janis wants to know!

TwoSistas and it’s MindsetMonday this October 17, 2022. We all know that mindset is the key and yes, this is a subject we have chatted about for ions (529 Episodes to be exact.) This is one of those subjects which we just can’t say enough (I know, we chat about this alot!) The fact is that we have to give ourselves the opportunity to have grace for ourselves and others where mindset is considered.
The bottom line is that we never know what someone else is going through and vice versa. It’s okay to acknowledge how we feel, maybe reach out to a family member or friend and take things in stride. A simple gesture to reach out even to someone that you don’t know (such as a veteran, health care worker, police officer or fire / emergency personnel) and say thank you. Create the magic in the ripple effect - it will go a long way!

TwoSistas and it’s FantabulousFriday, September 30, 2022, and it’s National Podcast Day!!! Updates on Hurricane Ian and its’ aftermath as the rescue and clean up efforts continue. We always try to look for the blessings in the midst of the storm and we know personally how hard that is. Janis (having lived in Florida for 7 years) went through several hurricanes including Hurricane Charlie which Hurricane Ian somewhat followed it’s path. By now, we all know that “Ian” was approximately 3 times the size of “Charlie”.
Think about this for a moment: the State of Florida is 500 miles long and 160 miles wide - “Ian” was 500 miles wide (not sure how long) and basically every 67 counties in Florida were affected.
As the efforts continue to get back to normal life, remember your family and friends to whom suffered great losses, specifically on the West coast of Florida. Please continue to heed the updates from your local and state officials.

Part of why we both love FantabulousFriday is that it’s a celebration of all that we have accomplished. We think that all too often, we overlook and focus on what we did not complete so we don’t take that opportunity to renegotiate our “task” list. It’s not about just creating a “list” - yes; of course that’s important! We like to tackle the “list” into smaller bite size portions.
In other words, on a sheet of paper, create a list of everything you want to accomplish, goals, tasks, whatever it may be for you. Once you are done with that list, go through it again - you may look at your list and think, okay, I have a lot to do today but your list may be unrealistic to obviously complete everything. Mindset is all about establishing those routines that support your lifestyle. For instance, many of us have vision boards or use sticky notes (yes; there is an app for the organization of sticky notes!). We always urge on the side of what works for you; keep it as simple as possible. Don’t worry about buying into or using an app that does not support your lifestyle. A good old fashioned pen and paper is always best when starting out!

TwoSistas and it’s TriumphTuesday @ Night on August 9, 2022 - the heatwave in the Northeast continues and apparently so does the “political” chaos which certainly adds a lot of stress - this affects our overall wellness! How we deal with stress can really wreak havoc on how we feel physically and emotionally. Are we surprised at what is happening? No. Is it frustrating? Yes.
While we are not experts, there are certainly so many things that you can do to ease the stress you are feeling such as:
*Don’t watch the news.
*Turn off the news alerts.
*Listen to soothing music.
*Journal.
*Call a friend.
*Do some breathing exercises.
*Exercise (don’t forget to hydrate).
*Meditate.
*Watch something funny.
*Organize.
There are so many things that we can’t control but we have the ultimate control of how we react. Remember to give yourself the time to reflect on how that stress is affecting you; celebrate the wins - that’s a triumph!

For instance, Carroll-Sue shared with us that she is doing a 31-day challenge she has established for herself where each day she is going to accomplish exercising (or movement) twice per day, ½ gallon of water and reading along with journaling. Maybe thinking of doing a 31-day challenge sounds a little overwhelming.
Janis shared to start out with a 3 ,5 or 7-day challenge. Keep a journal of everything you do in a day; find the gaps where you can add time to exercise or read; time for yourself to create a routine that works with your schedule (be real with your intentions and goals while also being gentle and kind to yourself!)
After you’ve completed the first 3-days, you might see that you can keep going with your new routine. How good will that feel??!!

TwoSistas and it’s TriumphTuesday @ Night on July 26, 2022 - the heatwave in the Northeast finally broke - about 5 - 8 degrees cooler but nevertheless, a nice breeze and one of those beautiful summer days! Sometimes seeing the beauty outside in what is surrounding you, those little things that you notice are a triumph! Word salads, the thrill of pickling and the agony of the clean up continued but oh wow, the green pickles taste soooo good!
Celebrating the triumph are often those little things that we don’t give ourselves credit for and why is that sometimes? Perhaps it’s not realizing that the little steps we take will eventually get us to our goals and if you reached a segment where you never thought you might be, that’s a triumph!
Remember this: the difference between try and triumph is a little “umph”. Simply to endure is to triumph. With faith, hope and endurance, we triumph!

Our perception is often meant from being pulled in too many directions - some of it on our own; some if not. How do we begin a healthy mindset practice? Basically, one step at a time! (Ok, yea this is great but I honestly don’t have time to take care of myself!)
We have been faced with this question ourselves and it’s taken us a long time to come up with what specifically works for us. The best of practices is just to #1 start. Look at your day, realistically and honestly. TwoSistas and it’s MindsetMonday! We may wing it from time-to-time, fake it till you make it; however the perception that we have for ourselves and put out into the universe is often misdirected. For instance, we all have winged-it at one point or another. We don’t care too much for fake it till you make it as it already sets the foundation for negativity - it’s as though we send ourselves a message of “I am going to fail before I even begin” so when we fail or don’t make it, we are not that disappointed.
There are also exceptions with fear and fear can be a good thing. We try something, we are fearful, it doesn’t work out and that’s where the magic can begin if we look at it objectively which might lead us to where we exactly need to be - that’s a good thing!

TwoSistas and it’s Episode #460 on this FantabulousFriday! As we move forward in life, it’s important to recognize the goals, accomplishments that we have reached and those we have yet to reach. Sometimes “fear” plays a big part in how we move, or don’t move, forward with reaching our goals. Part of reaching our goals is the ability to take action - what holds us back, yup the “F” word FEAR. How do we move past that?
For instance, Janis shared that even though she is typically on video everyday, she has a fear of going live on her personal and professional Facebook pages. A friend of Janis’ challenged her to “get it done”. As with any sibling, Carroll-Sue gave Janis some great advice and challenged her just to do it! Challenge accepted!

TwoSistas and it’s TriumphTuesday and isn’t ironic that when Janis did her intro she almost attempted to triumph over an email she had just received - she shared her frustration over the status of a dress she ordered for her niece’s wedding - we guess this was something about nothing but nonetheless, it irritated Janis!
The woes of frustrations when dealing with customer service, especially when there is no way to email; you are either on the phone (for a long time) or chatting with customer service via text messaging.
Although “triumph” sounds like a big word and in actuality, it can be, don’t overlook what you have accomplished, what you have triumphed over - no matter what! It can be something as simple as making your bed - you made it - you completed that first task of the day - that is a triumph!

TwoSistas and it's Sailing Saturday! The "Sistas" welcomed back to their podcast, Dr Anthony Kaveh. Dr. Kaveh was previously on the podcast on March 19, 2022. You may recall that Dr Kaveh is a Stanford and Harvard trained, board-certified anesthesiologist, integrative medicine specialist, and physician influencer (300+k, @MedicalSecrets). Dr Kaveh has a very unique perspective approach and shared the powers of mind-body with patients before surgery to help them uncover incredible potential during surgery. Anesthesia can actually "open up" patients.
Dr Kaveh also shared that his patients have the benefit of optimal healing through their experiences in the operating room. It comes down to having trust and who is caring for you when you are put "under". As he explained, many patients can be hyper-excitable pre-surgery. It's important to emphasize how important mindset, nutrition and fitness plays into one's conditioning going into surgery and post-surgery.

TwoSistas, MindsetMonday and it's all about Mindset, Maskinese and stretching that dollar and a showcase of Janis' new piece of luggage (yes; we know - something about nothing, but it's the perfect blend of purple and she just had to share!!). Mindset is happening in so many different ways - we all know that the price of everything is going up: from gas to fuel our cars, groceries are so much higher and EVERYTHING has reached an all-time high. Every trip out of the house is strategically planned. Community involvement, especially with the "shortage" of baby formula is helping parents find their baby's specific formula.

If you've been feeling a little off lately, there is a good reason for that - we are in the midst of Mercury Retrograde which means the "motion" lasts from May 10 to June 2, 2022 (info retrieved from Almanac.com). The "motion" specifically means that "the planet Mercury appears to travel backward across the sky." Almanac goes on to further explain that "those who practice astrology, these times in particular were traditionally associated with confusion, delay, and frustration. Think undelivered love letters, email blunders, and frazzled travel plans!"
Of course it can mean many other different things as well - for instance, cravings! (Cravings are also a sign that in all likelihood you are deficient in certain nutrients or micro-nutrients.

What sets us apart sometimes is not meeting the expectations of those wins or goals. We know that laying the foundation can be hard but are we using that as an excuse to stay "normal"? What if we had the conversation with ourselves (as we often do) and realized our potential - in other words, except the risk and just go for it! Maybe you cannot do a pushup - instead of saying "I can't do this" say, "I will try a pushup at the breakfast bar at a slant so that I still am doing the exercise just a little differently?"
What is a goal or a task you have wanted to complete and you did so, maybe with a little fear and trepidation but you reached it - how did that make you feel?

TwoSistas, MindsetMonday and it's Janis' Birthday month - yes; she will be reminding us all month long!! Setting ourselves up for success is always based on our goals and what we want to achieve or attain. What happens when your vision board of your goals looks like a Pinterest board? Sometimes we put too much emphasis on doing the right thing that it takes us away from what we actually want to achieve. How do you combat or deal with that? Pick (3) goals you want to attain and work diligently to achieve them - there may be trial and error, but that is part of the growing aspect.
If you are filled with so many ideas that it keeps you from even starting, make a long-term list. For instance, if you have a very big goal that you realistically know will take you months to even wrap your ahead around it, put that on your long-term list. Of course, it's important to remember not to use that list to deter you from reaching your "3"!!

Part of the journey and the celebration of the journey is taking that initial step. It's normal to ask ourselves, well, if we do this, what if I fail? That's a normal thing to think but what if you did fail; what if it lead you to do something different even better than you were mean to do? What if, you learned a valuable lesson and created something that was better than you expected? Journey, the destination, fear, and a resolve to move forward.

TwoSistas and on this WealthWellnessWednesday welcome Dr. Orlena Kerek. Dr. Kerek trained as a doctor in the UK (pediatrics). She now coaches women to lead their most healthy life and love it, so they can "shed the wobble", get lots of energy and lead a long and healthy life.
Dr. Kerek shared that in order to make changes, you need to step forward and commit to a healthier lifestyle. It's definitely hard however she suggested to turn that around by saying "it's easy" to be where I am and "it's easy" to adapt to where I want to be. We further chatted about goals and how important it is to keep you eye on your goal while enjoying the present moment.
Dr. Kerek also shared some amazing insight on how our children view us as adults; in other words, the best (2) gifts you can give your children is your own happiness and vegetables! TwoSistas on this MindsetMonday, the day after Easter - actually today is Easter Monday and the tax filing deadline (have you filed your extension or your taxes yet??!!). When Mindset is the key, how do you unlock it? For some, this is quite easy and for others not so easy. There is no easy fix; yet you have to start somewhere. That is the key - START somewhere!
