#35 - Ethan Pitts: Genocide
On episode #35 of The Future of Thought podcast, Colton sits down with returning guest Ethan Pitts to unpack his research on genocide, what causes genocide, how to prevent genocide, cases of american genocide, genocide in the 21st century, and more.
Ethan Pitts is a Political Science student in his last year at Brigham Young University (BYU), with a dual emphasis in Genocide Studies and Middle East Studies. His capstone paper focused on the relationship between independence warfare and authoritarianism in the Algerian War of Independence. He also has co-authored and presented a research paper accepted by the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS); this paper is a meta-analysis exploring the interaction of empire, state, war, and revolution with land resources as a driving factor. Ethan has also formally studied German, Korean, Arabic, Swedish, and Russian with personal studies in world history, advanced nuclear energy, infrastructure, and hydroponic farming. Ethan is also a hobbyist cellist and formerly a Certified Barbecue Judge (KCBS).
