E3: Marcy Schwam | Going Long
Play • 1 hr 21 mins
My friend Marcy Schwam is one of the most decorated and accomplished ultradistance runners of all time. A true pioneer in the sport her list of “firsts” is nearly as long as her list of World Records. Six World Records by the way. And the funny thing is, running wasn’t “her thing” as kid. A tennis prodigy at an early age she nearly became a professional tennis player. In this wide ranging conversation we talk about the reality of women’s sports before Title IX, the mix up with her bib at her first Boston Marathon, her proudest accomplishment in the sport, and her secrets to successful aging.
