The Extraordinary Comeback by Aleah Bass
Play • 19 min

Aleah Bass wrote this book for her senior writing project class in her senior year of college. It was a two semester class that included a lot of editing and adding to the book throughout it all with the help of her professor and classmates through Zoom since they were online her whole senior year. Aleah loves reading romance novels or dramas. Her inspiration for this piece was to make it seem like a lifetime movie. She wanted the reader to really feel as though they are in the main character's shoes. While coming up with that, she thought of the idea of making up a fictional character and have them encounter real life events and ran with it. She made this character face hard situations that made her get to her goal of getting into her dream college. Going off of that, Cass had to face addiction, loss, heartbreak and life changing moments that altered her life forever. She comes up on top and makes her come back through self-intervention, recovery, and therapy. It's never too late to get to your dream destination and that is exactly what She wanted her character to portray.

Aleah Bass is from South River, New Jersey, where she still lives. Her passion for writing started around her sophomore year of high school when she started taking honors courses and got to write more poems and in depth stories where she got to free write and just let her thoughts flow. Her family has always supported her love for writing and encouraged her to pursue it in college. Along with writing, she always loved working with kids. She received a bachelors degree in creative writing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2021 where she was also in the QUEST program as a secondary and special ed major. She was also on the basketball team and in the sorority Delta Phi Epsilon. She has three nieces and two nephews. That have been her motivation to not give upon my dreams because she wants them to know they can do anything they put their mind to. Chrissy, Tyler, Tara, Amanda and Blake, keep going and don't stop until your dreams become reality.
