You'll notice something different about this episode... A NEW THEME SONG! That's right, bitches, we got a super legit custom theme song from the very talented Keybeaux and we could not be more pumped about it. We hope all of our long-time listeners love it too. If you want to work with Keybeaux you can find him on Fiverr as Burtonm6. He was a dream to work with. Many thanks again to our pals at Honesty Check for helping us make that connection happen.
Now, on to the show!
This week Kelly kicks things off by telling Debbie Jo all about Maya Angelou. Kelly had been an admirer of Angelou's for years but even she didn't know about half of this woman's badassery. Kelly's decision to talk about Angelou was borne out of the desire to honor Black History Month and get to know more about important women of color in history. If you haven't ever heard Angelou's voice, Kelly encourages you to Google & YouTube as much as you possibly can. The woman had an unmatched way with words, but even her voice is musical and poetic.
Debbie Jo then fills Kelly in on Carol Daronch, one of only a handful of survivor's of serial killer Ted Bundy, and for a long time, the only known survivor. Carol fought her ass off and not only got away from this monster but took with her the evidence that would eventually bring his ass down. She even stood up against him in court, as he represented himself as his own defense and questioned her on the witness stand. F*ck Ted Bundy, who we should be talking about is the amazing women that survived him. So, Debbie Jo did just that!
