Hoop Earrings & Rape Culture
Play • 1 hr 20 min

This week Debbie Jo and Kelly talk about straight f***ery in East Tennessee, where a high school teacher held a special meeting with female students to tell them about how they can expect to be respected or not be respected based on the clothing and accessories they wear.

The ladies discuss the perpetuation of rape culture and their own experiences sexual assault and the struggle for women who must decide whether to report or not to report.

Trigger Warning: Sexual Assault

While graphic details are not shared, Kelly does speak pretty specifically about an attempted rape/sexual assault she experienced at age 14. Debbie discusses betrayal by the legal system when she reported her abuser.

To lighten things up a bit, the show is brought to a close with a story about something super rad and charitable that happened to Kelly last week, as well as Podcast recommendations from Debbie Jo.
