KILLER CULTS-Joyce and Stephen Singular

What's scarier than a murderer? Someone with the charisma to compel others to kill for them . . . or to kill themselves. Meet these cult leaders--and get an inside look at their beliefs and how they controlled others.

Some cults, led by leaders like Charlie Manson, Jim Jones, and David Koresh, are notorious. But others are less well known, such as Shoko Asahara and his doomsday cult, Aum Shinrikyo, who orchestrated the sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway. Or Joseph Di Mambro and Luc Jouret, who founded the Order of the Solar Temple, a doomsday cult that led to the death of 51 members by murder or suicide. Then there is Marshall Applewhite, leader of Heaven's Gate, who, along with 38 followers, killed themselves in the belief that the Hale-Bopp comet signaled the arrival of a spaceship that would transport them to a higher plane of existence. What makes cult leaders so compelling is their often-unfathomable power over their adherents. Why do people kill others or themselves for a questionable set of beliefs? Killer Cults tells the stories behind both famous and unfamiliar cults, and the people behind them. Across a series of profiles, we learn the jaw-dropping truth behind some of the most mystifying and deadly cults, and their leaders, all of whom led their followers down a dark, murderous path. KILLER CULTS: Stories of Charisma, Deceit, and Death-Joyce and Stephen Singular.

GirlsDoPorn
In 2013, a website featuring amateur pornography began making headlines across the United States - and later, the world. Founded by New Zealander Michael Pratt in 2006, GirlsDoPorn was billed early on as "a reality website that features 18-21 year old females making their very first adult videos." For the next decade, Pratt would attempt to build an empire, recruiting his childhood friend Matthew Wolfe in 2011 and aspiring actor Ruben "Andre" Garcia later that same year to help him achieve his goals. But by 2016, dozens of women featured on the site would turn against these three and the other employees of GirlsDoPorn, revealing that they had built nothing more than a criminal enterprise centered around fraud, deceptive practices, and malice... Download it today in the Apple or Google stores*** Forty-one year old Leah Rowlands was starting a new life. She moved to the small town of Cozad, Nebraska where her boyfriend lived. She had been married previously, from which she had two sons, but had fled from what she described as a very abusive relationship. Now in Cozad, she was putting the pieces back together. She had just been promoted to manager at the Amoco station where she worked. However, while her first day under her new position should have been a good one, Leah would be brutally murdered in a bizarre robbery. While police theorized that the crime may have been random, Leah's brother argued that it may have been an organized hit, funded by Leah's own ex-husband.
