Community-based Participatory Research (CBPR) in India
In this podcast, we will hear from two CBPR practitioners who participated in the workshop in Delhi, India. First, we will hear from Edith Parker, a well-known practitioner of CBPR at the University of Iowa School of Public Health. She’ll explain how CBPR benefited her work in rural communities, and how she connected with Rajesh Tandon, founder of Participatory Research in Asia, or PRIA. Then, we’ll hear from Tandon himself, as he discusses how India utilizes CBPR today, and how he hopes it might create a better future for the country.

Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD)
Environmental factors such as exposure to chemicals, diet, lifestyle, and stress, during early development or other important windows of susceptibility can lead to negative health effects throughout life and even be passed on to future generations. Research in this area is helping to explain the global increase in non-communicable diseases, and also identify opportunities for interventions to improve public health.

NIEHS Climate Change and Environmental Exposures Challenge Part 2:Visualizing Climate, Health, and Flooding
NIEHS’s Climate Change and Environmental Exposures Challenge focused on creating data visualization tools and maps that connect current science on climate change to the exposure pathways for environmental hazards. The goal was to help decision makers and communities identify areas and people at greatest risk and help to prioritize protective actions. In this Part 2 of the 2-part series, we’ll hear about the other two winning projects: innovative visualization tool that identifies vulnerabilities related to flooding, air pollution, and extreme heat; and a website that shows area residents and decision-makers the potential hazards around the city and how that risk may change as climate change brings more flooding.

NIEHS’s Climate Change and Environmental Exposures Challenge focused on creating data visualization tools and maps that connect current science on climate change to the exposure pathways for environmental hazards.
