Nearly 250,000 SoCal Edison Customers are at Risk for Power Outages
Nearly 250,000 Southern California Edison customers are at risk of having their power turned off to keep electrical lines and other equipment from sparking wildfires during the "Red Flag" warning. Most of those customers, however, will not lose power. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, over 16,000 SoCal Edison customers did lose power as a protective measure. Edison has installed tiny weather stations to monitor wind, humidity and temperature in fire prone areas. The company also sends employees to observe fire risk conditions in person.
