Recovery, Healing & the Holidays—Part One: Preparing for and Managing Triggers
The holidays are a time for MAJOR EMOTIONAL TRIGGERS—good and bad. In fact the Holidays are intended and designed to elicit intense emotions. These can be ignited by our internal or external environments. In this episode (part one of a 3-part holiday series) Mark and Steve get real about HOW to deal with holiday triggers in a healthy way— -  Normalize your holiday triggers—they're going to happen! -  Practice simply "being" with your emotions as opposed to "doing" something about them.  -  Learn to break them down by playing the "what & why game." -  Once identified, turn to effective tools to manage your triggers. -  Connect with healthy people who truly care about you. -  Own your emotions and allow others to own theirs. -  You may need to let go of some traditions and adopt others that are more healthy. -  Have an "escape plan" for emotional emergencies. Keeping it 100! It's a milestone episode and likely season ender for GTWM Season 7 and Mo would like to thank you all for the amazing support in what has been such a different and difficult year for most of the world. But that's what this show is here for -- when times get rough, you call Good Times! As we prep for a season break which should last a few weeks, here is the 100th episode lineup to send us off: Caller #1 is John who is 28yrs old from Bangladesh. John has spent 3yrs in a very very remote part of Bangladesh -- away from his fiance and family. And he is getting to the breaking point of how much Bangladesh he can take. Should he give up his good job there to be in a better place. Caller #2 is Ace who is 36yrs old from Paranaque. Ace has been going to Christian mass and Bible study for a few years and he wants out but he is embarrassed to leave the people he build some relationships with. How does he give up the faith without disappointing them? Caller #3 is Kris who is 31yrs old from London, England. Kris, like many in LDR's during Covid, has found herself and her fiance fading in their relationship. What has been asked so many times this season is this: how long should I hold on to this relationship during these trying times. Caller #4 is Pras who is a Professor of Medicine at Stanford University who calls in to talk about the current status of everything Covid. See you next season!
