January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. The State of Colorado is launching its 2023 campaign to raise awareness anyone can be a victim. Colorado Human Trafficking Council was formed in 2014, the team is made up of 35 people representing state and non-government agencies, law enforcement, prosecutors, regional coalitions and task forces, legal services, victim service providers, academia, faith-based organizations, and survivor leaders. There is no way to track how many people are being trafficking but it is being identified and the number of cases are on the rise. Human trafficking is the exploitation of another person through force, fraud, or coercion for some type of labor, including commercial sex.
