Sabrina Frederick Uncut - Talking resilience, SAS Australia, same sex relationships and BLM
Today we have the absolute powerhouse that is Sabrina Frederick joining us and we are so excited to bring you this episode!!  Sabrina is not only an elite athlete paving the way for women in AFL, but she is also keeping us glued to our screens as we watch the highly addictive yet controversial reality TV show that is SAS Australia.  Sabrina describes herself with the simple yet powerful statement 'I’m a Black woman in a same sex relationship working in a male dominated sport" and we talk about all of that. We chat all things AFL, how Sabrina got into the sport, she tells us all about her fiance, how they met and who proposed to whom. Then the scene that divided the nation, the boxing match between Sabrina and Nick "honey badger' Cummins, we find out what really went down, along with some other SAS goss of course! Like who she would take into battle if she could only choose one person, and it may not be who you think! Sabrina opens up and talks about her experiences and her thoughts on the Black Lives Matter movement and some of the issues she faced growing up.  All in all this was such a beautiful conversation and we can all learn a lot from the inspiration that is Sabrina Frederick.  You can follow Sabrina @sabzizzle If you loved the episode you know the drill! Thank you so much to everyone that voted for us in the Australian podcast awards, thanks to you WE WON ahhhhhhh WE'RE NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING! We love you all for sharing the love! xx

We've Become Princess Diana Conspiracy Theorists
Hello muffins and welcome to a brand spanking new AWD episode. This week, we pay a quick homage to 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' on its 10 year anniversary, and as Complex crowns it the album of the decade. In short: We miss the old Kanye. Listeners share their own stories of embarrassing stories of love-gone-wrong in your early 20s. Ivanka Trump's former bestie pulled a Natalie and penned a bitchy essay for Vanity Fair - but why do so many (white) women bristle against fully condemning Ivanka? Lena Dunham wrote an essay for Harper's about her struggles with IVF - leading to a rambling discussion from us about the inescapable questions that surround motherhood, work and fertility, and how new technology often leads to more shame and self-hatred for women. Then, it's onto the only topic we ever want to talk about: Princess Diana. The BBC have opened an investigation into whether or not her 1995 Panorama interview was obtained unethically - while a new five-part series 'You're Wrong About' investigates the myths and legends surrounding Princess Di's death. A documentary directed by Lily Allen's Dad (randomly) has turned us into conspiracy theorists - so what's the truth? And why can't we stop talking about it, 20+ years later?  As always, rate, review and subscribe - and we'll see you Saturday. ❤️ Disclaimer: Izzy doesn't really think the royals killed Princess Diana. Please don't @ her. How Ultra Violette Created A Cult Brand Almost Instantly
There are some products that you need but just aren’t fun to buy. Coat hangers, staples, ironing boards, flour... Here’s an idea for a business: find a product nobody likes buying and then make a version of it that people will describe as a “cult buy”. That’s what Ava Matthews and her business partner Bec Jefferd did when they noticed that skincare was having a moment but sunscreens were a product that just weren't very…. sexy. They changed that, almost overnight, with Ultra Violette. Their range of sunscreens come in distinctive bright blue packaging that you've probably seen all over Instagram. So, how did they do it? What was their approach to revolutionising a whole category?  Mia Freedman chatted to Ava to find out.  THE END BITS: Check out Ultra Violette here - https://ultraviolette.com.au/.  You can follow Ava Matthews on Instagram here - https://www.instagram.com/avamatthews/?hl=en.  Are you busting to start your own business but you don’t know where to start? Blair James // A small town boy building a self-tan world
While last week Farah spoke of faraway places, this week’s guest is homegrown but has exported the Aussie experience through a booming business described as Aussie Made, Globally Loved. Blair James co-founded self-tanning disrupter *Bondi Sands* in 2012 to capture everything that makes Aussie summers iconic through what has grown to over 50 products in a whopping 30,000 retailers worldwide. Of course the business’ huge success, continual innovation and championing of sun safety and sustainability are incredible impressive and Blair shares many useful tips on brand building and scaling that had me furiously taking down notes. But, unsurprisingly if you’re a regular listener, I was more thrilled to explore his lesser known earlier years including his very small country hometown called – wait for it – *YEA (pronounced "yay")* – and that he didn’t excel in VCE nor did he finish university neither of which have hindered where he ended up. As always, there’s some hilarious fun facts in between – nothing humanises a person more than hearing them laugh especially about the joys of iso haircuts! As a businesswoman but also as a human, I love exploring the brains behind beloved brands and hope you do too. + Follow *Blair James** *and* **Bondi Sands** *here + Announcements on Insta at *@spoonful_of_sarah* + Subscribe to not miss out on the next instalment of YAY! >>> *JOIN THE SEIZE THE YAY FB GROUP* <<<
