Episode 132 - Canadian Creeps and Cryptids with Haunted History BC
Canada is well known for hokey, poutine and cold weather. Eh? Yes, I also know Canada for Corner Gas and some of the best punk rock in the world (Anti-Queens, duh!). What about the ghosts and cryptids of our friendly neighbors to the north? Not content with another episode about Waverly or Whaley House, in this one, I turn to Gina and Victoria of Haunted History BC, those Canadian Mavens of Morbid Mayhem, for answers. We’ll talk about the sisters’ history in the paranormal, how they conduct investigations, their mascot, Onyx The Crow and more. The “more” being several stories of Canadian haunted places and cryptids!!! Good stuff, eh? Last “eh?” joke, I promise. Those Pennsylvanian Purveyors of PUNK, Advocaat, generously grace us with the song “Ghost” in this one, too. BOOOO, eh!!! Sorrrry about that.

Episode 127 - Airstream Futures Interview
Chicago! Upside down pizza! Hotdogs served with a baseball bat sized pickle! Kayne West? Sears Tower? What else? I say, who gives a rat’s ass about all that other stuff, the best thing outta Chicago since ever is Airstream Futures! This episode is an interview with the band plus two songs - “Brighter Blue” and “Faster Than You Know”. Once you listen to this band’s music, you’ll be hooked, just like me. Plus they’re super fun to drink with and sit around with on a Saturday in the park. I think it was the 4th of July? Ooops. Wrong CHICAGO band.

We’ve covered paranormal investigating and ghosts, haunted places and haunted history, witchcraft, magic and tarot, cryptids, UFOs and now, we’re going to tie ALL of them together. Mike Wiebe of The Riverboat Gamblers and Drakulas. He’s the tall, good looking one that jumps around and sings in both bands, by the way. Mike sets sail on the WeirdBoat, the Bobcast, to talk about paranormal stuff, his bands and more in this episode. Strange car rides on Santa Fe Baldy in New Mexico, strange lights in the sky in Denton, Texas and a Goatman. And the Goatman’s Bridge. Creepy, spooky and awesomely atrotious stories, in other words. Plus, a retelling by yours truly of one of the many legends that surround Goatman’s Bridge in Denton, Texas. I personally would not visit Goatman’s Bridge. Too scary, especially after I read all about it. Yikes. Music of the episode provided by Drakulas and the Riverboat Gamblers with the songs “Dark Black” and “Don’t Bury Me (I’m Still Not Dead)” respectively.

Episode 120 - Paranormal Ponderings V - UFOs with Aaron Gulyas
UFOs fall under the (very large) umbrella that is “The Paranormal”. There, I said it. I guess it’s not really a controversial opinion, it’s just that many people don’t think of UFOs from a “paranormal” point of view. Why not? Paranormal is simply defined as “something science can’t explain” and if that ain’t THE definition of UFO, I don’t know what is. Regardless, this Bobcast episode is another dive into the realm of the paranormal, this time all about UFOs. Aaron Gulyas, author, educator, historian and host of The Saucer Life podcast joins us to talk a little about conspiricies, UFO lore and history and creepy black Cadillacs. Music of the episode is provided by those Canadian Creeps, The Band From Planet X. Brought to you by Good Life Digestive Health.

Episode 119 - The Mike Damante PUNK Interview
Mike Damante won me over a while ago with his “Punk Rock and UFOs” series of books, a mind-blowing series on paranormal weirdness and UFO related wildness. Mike’s latest book, “Hey Suburbia” also won me over - but in a different way. “Hey Suburbia” talks about punk rock, pop-punk and emo of the 1990’s and early 2000’s, mostly. There’s nostalgia, to be sure. But there’s also quite a bit about the course and trajectory of punk rock from those golden days up to the present day. Let me tell you, I listened to a bunch of Jimmy Eat World after I read the book, I cannot tell a lie. But I also looked at the future of punk rock in a different light after reading the book. With more hope, I should say. Well! Mike joins the Bobcast to talk all things PUNK in this episode, from how it all started for him, to answering that age old question - were big punk bands of the 90’s (that were successful) sell-out’s? Listen and find out! Also, Michael Crusty stops by with a brand…

Episode 118 - Haunted Harmonies with Villa Montezuma and Come Closer
Welcome to the first edition of a new series of Bobcast episodes, simply titled “Haunted Harmonies”. With these episodes, you’ll hear a little bit about the history and haunts of a particular paranormally active location, which is located somewhere in this great big haunted world of ours. Along with the history and haunts, let’s throw a band interview - a short one - into these episodes, because the Bobcast is PUNK. The rule is, the band has to be from the same town or area as the featured haunted location. In this case, we’re talking about San Diego, California’s Villa Montezuma, with the band of the episode being Come Closer. San Diego has a TON of haunted places, but I’m telling you, Villa Montezuma is the King/Queen of the Haunt Heap. Come Closer is likewise the cream of the crop in a sea of amazing bands from San Diego. The tales of strangeness from Villa Montezuma, the interview with J from Come Closer, a song titled “Get It Wrong” by Come Closer, this episode h…

Episode 117 - Spider Interview with Hector Martinez
The band Spider, from the Los Angeles area, has pulled something off that not many bands have truly been able to do. They’ve taken the sound and the fury of 1980’s LA punk and hardcore and turned it into their own thing. A magical and perfectly punk thing, at that. Don’t think I’m saying the band lives in the past! No, Spider does their own thing, while hearkening back to the glory days of LA punk and hardcore. Hector Martinez, the singer/vocalist of Spider stops by The Bobcast to talk about the band, punk rock stuff, ghosts, UFOs and more! Two songs by Spider are in this episode, “Energy Gone Wrong” and “The Reeperbahn”. Presented by Good Life Digestive Health.

Episode 113 - Paranormal Ponderings IV - Cryptids with Hex-Files
What is a cryptid? The easy answer is - some type of creature/being/entity that is said to exist, but has never been proven to exist. Bigfoot, Nessie, Normie, Thunderbirds, you get the idea. Cryptids do fall under the catagory of paranormal phenomena in the sense that we just don’t know WHAT they are, so here we are talking about cryptids in a Paranormal Ponderings episode. Josh and Tamara of The Hex-Files Podcast join me in this episode to talk about a Bigfoot investigation they went on fairly recently, we’ll discuss the cryptids of their home state of North Carolina and also do a rhetorical “Battle Royale” type of thing with Bigfoot Vs. Mothman, that kind of thing. Who would win? Listen and find out! Music of the episode provided by The Weakerthans with the song “Bigfoot” and The Marred with the song “A Hidden Presence”. Episode 107 - The Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark Episode
Have you read any of the “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark” series of books? As a kid? As an adult? Both? . These books, the Scary Stories series, made a HUGE impression on me when I read them a couple of years ago, as an adult. The artwork is terrifying and amazing. The stories are timeless and creepy, sometimes funny, sometimes disgusting. Always entertaining and fun, that’s the trick of these stories. They grab you and won’t let go. Just like some of the baddies in the stories? Oh, but the art, that’s the REAL kicker, isn’t it? The art in the Scary Stories books worms it’s way into your brain and takes up permanent residence. The original art by Stephen Gammell, that is. Sinister and creepy to the point you feel the art could jump out of the pages and say “YOU HAVE IT!!!”. Episode 106 - Alex Botkin Interview (Lavasocks Records, Sarchasm, 924 Gilman St.)
When it comes to East Bay punk stuff, Alex Botkin knows his stuff. As the person behind Lavasocks Records, Alex does his part to keep the history and radness of the East Bay sound alive with releases such as “The Thing That Ate Floyd” comp. “Floyd” originally came out on Lookout! Records back in the stone ages of 1988 and has pretty much every band from the Bay Area of the time on it. An incredible record that Alex felt needed a new lease on life. Coming soon from Lavasocks is a partnership with Sell The Heart Records and a rethinking of Rancid’s classic record, “And Out Come The Wolves”. This version has a much better title, “And Out Come The Lawsuits”. Track by track, “…Lawsuits” features 19 bands covering ALL 19 songs on the original record and WOW. It’s an amazing record! Episode 101 - No Small Children Interview
No Small Children, the band, the myth, the legend. I first heard No Small Children while looking for a cover of the “Ghostbusters” theme song for a recent episode. Welcome to a brand new series of episodes on the Bobcast, this time around we’re talking about all things paranormal and the occult in the “Paranormal Ponderings” series! Now, rather than talking all about the subjects at hand myself, I’ve gathered some of the finest people involved in the paranormal and occult world today to discuss these otherworldly matters. This first episode is all about paranormal investigating and features an interview with the force behind “Pretty F’n Spooky”, Amanda Paulson. Amanda is a paranormal investigator with no equal in my mind. Join us as we talk about her favorite equipment to take on an investigation, what criteria she uses to choose a location to investigate and she’ll even tell you about one of her first paranormal encounters! Good stuff. Also featured in this one is another installment of “Mysterious Musings With Ivy Boyd”, where Ivy tells of a couple of recent investigations she was a part of. Music! A cover of the “Ghostbus…

Episode 97 -The Strange Case of the "Lost" Misfit
What would you say if I told you there has been a fifth member of The Misfits out there, hiding under our very noses for the last 40 years - unknown, unloved, unwanted? You might say I’m crazy, but here it is - proof. This episode is part mystery, part detective story and finally, once the mystery is solved, an interview with Dan Ziegler (or Sam Haines), the “lost” Misfit. Dan (Sam) has been quiet these last 40 years and for good reason. The always looming threat of retributuion from Danzing and Jerry Only if they go public? Maybe. Demonic forces and the terror they bring if they came clean? Also a maybe. What I can tell you is this - if you listen, you’ll hear the story of this unfortunate 5th Misfit, but you’ll leave with a little hope. You see, this person turned it around after being removed from the band and has started their own empire of food and drinks. You’ll have to listen to the episode for more details, I don’t want to have “All Hell Break Loose” by givin…

Episode 96 - The Grant Lawrence Interview (The Smugglers, Lookout! Zoomout!)
Grant Lawrence is a venn diagram gone horribly, horribly wrong. Where do you start with this guy? Grant is the singer of Canadian Crazies The Smugglers. He’s a radio and podcast personality for the Canadian Broadcast Corp. Books? Grant has written them and even has a children’s book on the way in late 2021. What else? Oh yeah! Grant and The Smugglers were on the Lookout! Records roster during the “Golden Years” of both Lookout! and pop-punk in general. So, Grant decided to reunite some of his labelmates for a series of Lookout! Records based livestreams that feature music, conversation and fun! What a great thing, these Lookout! Zoomout! streams are for a covid weary world. Interested in hearing more? Good, because this episode is a conversation with Grant where we talk about all of this and more! Three songs by The Smugglers are also featured in this episode - “Death At Disneyland”, “Rosie” and “Buddy Holly Convention”. Tune in and get awesome with Grant Lawrence!

Episode 94 - The Skoops Episode
Skoops is a very interesting person. He is an avid skateboarder, surfer and musician. Skoops is my friend. Skoops is also a black man. I feel like it is so very important to get the perspective of people outside of our own perspectives, in order to grow, learn and be a better person. So let’s talk to Skoops! We talk about growing up skating, surfing and playing music, plus much more. The songs of the episode are by bands that Skoops has been involved in through the years, the bands Bertos and Floor Notes.

Episode 93 - Tim Powers Interview
Tim Powers is my favorite author. There, I said it. Now that the cat’s out of the bag, let’s talk about this episode. Tim is the author of many incredible novels, such as - On Stranger Tides, The Anubis Gates, The Stress Of Her Regard, Expiration Date and Alternate Routes. Twisted histories? Sort of. More like a fictional unveiling of the secrets behind historical figures and events. Why did Blackbeard drink burning rum mixed with gunpowder? Why did Thomas Edison throw firecrackers at his terrified children? Who wad Spring-Heeled Jack, really? Read Tim’s books and you’ll find out the answers to these questions and many, many more. I might add, you’ll be VERY entertained and enthralled, too, when reading the words of Tim Powers. We talk about UFO’s, Tim’s writing process (which is sometimes a little rough), freeways in Los Angeles and why most of the main characters, or, heroes, in Tim’s books get run so ragged. Hint - I’m calling it the “Diehard Effect” from now…

Episode 92 - Paranormal Trivia Challenge
Welcome to the very first I Wanna Party With Bob Trivia Challenge of 2021! The subject of this terrifying trivia is the paranormal, haunted places and haunted/cursed objects, to be specific. Here’s a couple of examples - Where did the Dead Milkmen film part of the music video for “Punk Rock Girl”, that is also a very haunted former prison? What does the name of the popular slumber party distraction, Ouija, mean? There’s even a question about a fictional cursed or haunted doll from the OG Twilight Zone series! This one is not to be missed, mostly because of the cast of ghoulishly great paranormal professionals that have assembled to answer the questions. Let me introduce them! Amanda Paulson of the Pretty F’n Spooky Blog & YouTube Channel, Cherise Williams, the terrific tarot reading investigator and YouTube Channel host, Ivy and Hannah of The Ghoul’s Trip Blog and finally, Josh and Tamara of The Hexfiles Podcast. These good people are all amazing investigators, practitioner…

Episode 91 - Haunted Dolls
What is it about haunted and possibly paranormal dolls that is just so damn terrifying? The thought that an inanimate and cuddly object could be the source of your demise? Is it that dolls are a trusted and comforting presence from our childhood, so when they get weird, it’s like a personal betrayal? Or is it just that dolls in general are creepy because of the “Uncanny Valley” and they all might as well be haunted, they’re so damn creepy anyway? Maybe you won’t find the answers to those questions in this episode. But what you WILL find are the stories of two very famous haunted dolls, Annabelle and Robert. Plus, the newest addition to this trio of terrible toys, Betty the doll. Betty has some history on the Bobcast (Check out the “Ghost Stories Part 3 episode), so this is a sort of follow-up episode on the Betty front. Amanda Paulson and Cherise Williams first investigated Betty, now she’s in the hands of the good folks at The Hexfiles Podcast. Josh and Tamara of Hexfile…

Episode 90 - Crusty's Corner Takeover with Cancer Bats
While I was searching for ghosts in the wilds of the American South recently, Michael Crusty of Crusty Media and the Bobcast’s own Crusty’s Corner stepped in, filled in and saved the day with his very own episode! My favorite Canadian came to the rescue with this episode, an interview with Scott of the band Cancer Bats, plus some songs by Cancer Bats, Napoleon and No Big Deal. Here’s a track listing of the songs - Intro song - “Miserable Failure” by Iron Reagan 1. “Deathsmarch To A New Acoustic Beat” by Cancer Bats 2. “Left To Die” by Napoleoon 3. “A Million Things” by No Big Deal 4. “Bricks And Mortar” and 5. “Sabotage” by Cancer Bats. PS - “Sabotage” is a Beastie Boys cover and it is DAMN good! So grab a twelver of Molson Canadian, pick up some poutine and celebrate all things Canadian with the Crusty Takeover!!

Episode 89 - Songs! Music! It's The Top 20 Of 2020
2020 was a year seemingly concieved in a Stephen King novel. Fascist leadership in the USA, a worldwide pandemic, economic disaster after disaster, did I miss anything? Well, at least the music of the Bobcast was great? Here is my ode to the songs that made 2020 a little more bearable for me and hopefully, you. This is what you’re getting, in order of appearance - The Anti-Queens, Ash Williams, The BellRays, Billy Liar, Black Breath, Danger Inc, Dear Boy, Future Of The Left, Houseghost, Iron Chic, Murder By Death, Nervosa, Parasites, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Sad GirlzClub, Sarchasm, TSOL, Turncoat, War On Women and Wolf-Face!

Episode 88 - Best Of 2020
A “Year In Review” for a year like 2020 was a rough thing to sort out. 2020 sucked. No denying that, right? Well, at least on the Bobcast, 2020 was a great year. Starting out with the conclusion of the Danzig Trilogy and ending with the Paul Tremblay interview, mix in a ton of incredible songs by incredible bands, I can’t complain about 2020 from the podcast point of view. Here’s what you’re getting in this fun-filled episode - Excerpts from the Danzig Series conclusion, the Joe Wood interview, the James Baldwin episode, the Katie Burr interview and the Paul Tremblay interview. A ghost story by Gared O’Donnell of Planes Mistaken For Stars from the very first Bobcast “Ghost Stories” episode. Songs by Lost Avenue, Sarchasm, Le Saboteur, The Bollweevils, Dillinger Four, Get Married and The Hybrids. Sense Field closes this “Best Of…” episode out with a cover of the song “Happy Christmas (War Is Over”. Happy New Year and here’s to a MUCH better year in 2021.

Episode 86 - Ghost Stories Volume III
Gather ‘round the Yule Log, it’s time for some chilling tales of haunted horrors! Ghost Stories Volume III has arrived under the Bobcast tree, just in time for Xmas. Ivy Boyd of the Creepin’ It Real podcast and Ghoul’s Trip blog starts things off with some creepy Christmas ghost stories. Maria of Hollywood Exhumed tells a tale of a departed Uncle who likes to stop by unannounced, even after his passing. Darrin Pfieffer (formerly) of Goldfinger and (currently of) The Dangerous Darrin Show describes what a former girlfriend experienced at a haunted music venue in Buffalo, NY - which was also one of Al Capone’s former “haunts”. Ceasar stays one unforgettable night in the famously phantasmal Jerome Grand Hotel. CJ Frederick of Dead Bars fame tells a chillingly familiar story from the wilds of Jeresey City. Episode 85 - Paul Tremblay Interview
Paul Tremblay is the author of several novels, such as “A Head Full Of Ghosts”, “Disappearance At Devil’s Rock”, “The Cabin At The End Of The World” and “Survivor Song”. One short story collection, “Growing Things” belongs on this list, as well. All thought provoking, some ambiguous, all lovely (and sometimes heartbreaking), some straight forward and tidily resolved. No mater what, I always walk away from a novel or story written by Paul Tremblay satisfied and yearning for more. Questions, though. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have any questions after reading the stories of Paul Tremblay. So, here we are! This episode features an interview with Paul Tremblay, plus three songs by some of the bands that he loves. A Husker Du cover performed by Big Drill Car, plus two songs by those Welsh masters of melodic mayhem, Future Of The Left. Samples of the questions I asked one of my favorite authors of recent years? Episode 84 - HP Lovecraft Was A Proud Boy
HP Lovecraft was undoubtedly one of 20th century fiction’s greatest writers. He invented horror fiction as we know it today, I believe. Cosmic, undulating, gasping for breath tales of terror that will keep the bravest soul awake at night. Lovecraft was also an unabashed racist, xenophobe and weird nationalist. This episode covers the history of HP Lovecraft, from birth to death, plus the incredibly lousy views he held on race, immigrants and white power/nationalist nonsense. HP Lovecraft was the early 20th century version of a “proud boy”. Timely, I know. Music of the episode by The Darkest Of The Hillside Thickets, the world’s greatest Lovecraft-inspired band.

Episode 83 - 2020 Thanksgiving Special
2020 has been garbage. Poop. Awful and filled with daily horrors. As we near the end of 2020, things are starting to look up a little bit, right? Biden won the US Presidency, a vaccine is coming for covid 19 and it is finally, finally the holidays. We made it. Thanksgiving is traditionally the start of the “holiday season”, though Halloween starts the festivities as far as I’m concerned. Can we just have Halloween once a month? I digress. This episode is a recipe for what makes up a typical Bobcast. An amazing ghost/paranormal encounter-type story from Ivy of the Ghoul’s Trip Blog and Creepin’ It Real podcast, a round of San Diego music trivia with the fine fellows of the Palapalooza podcast and lastly, a tale of revenge against the person that might be the worst person in music today - Morrissey. Worst person, best songs? Such a love/hate thing with me and Morrissey. A new feature to the Bobcast is in this one, Crusty’s Corner, a sort of Canadian connection that is so, so…

Welcome to the Sad Girlz Club Bobcast episode! This one has been in the works for a long, long time, as we were initially supposed to talk back in April of 2020 during La Escalera Fest - which was cancelled due to covid. Well, here we are and let me say, this one was worth the wait. Shelby, Eric and I talked recently, on the evening of Biden’s victory over the current shitbag in the White House. Don’t worry, I didn’t start celebrating until AFTER the interview started. This is a family Bobcast, after all. What you’ll get in this most un-sad episode is an interview with Shelby and Eric, plus four Sad Girlz Club songs! Let’s go to Northern Arkansas! I bet you don’t hear that very often, do you? Well. The Northern regions of Arkansas, especially the Northwest and North Central regions, are gorgeous. Green, mountain-y, rivers, lakes, outdoor activities to the end of time. What lurks INSIDE of Northern Arkansas, certain places that are located in Northern Arkansas? Ghosts. Spirits. Phantasms galore. This part of the country is so goshdanged haunted, it’s ridiculous. We’ll visit Cotter Bridge, with a little descriptive history and a completely made-up short story by your’s truly. The ghosts around Cotter Bridge are real, ohhh yes they are. Next is Mountain Village 1890, located in Bull Shoals of North Central Arkansas. What do you think of when Canada pops into your head? Molson Canadian? Hockey? Snow? Bob and Doug McKenzie? Poutine? Yeah, yeah, I think of all those things, plus Dudley Do-Right. Mounties, eh? MOSTLY, I think of Valerie Knox and her trifecta of incredible bands. Black Cat Attack. The Anti-Queens. The Hybrids (a Misfits cover band YES!!!!). Holy maple leaves, Valerie is one of the greatest things to ever happen to rock n’ roll. Her bands are absolutely amazing, catchy, they’ve got all the hooks in all the right iceholes. Episode 78 - Halloween Special with Paranormal Investigator Katie Burr
Happy Halloween and Happy Hauntings! Welcome to the second annual Bobtober Halloween Special! Katie has seen and experienced things that would make lesser people give in and give up, but not Katie. She handles the hurdles of hauntings with grace, a sturdy mind and determination to delve into the secrets of the spectral world more than ever. One of the aspects of this interview that makes it so special and perfect for a Halloween Special? The interview took place at El Adobe De Capistrano, a supposedly VERY haunted location in San Juan Capistrano, California. In the former jail, now a wine cellar. Episode 77 - Nathan Ballingrud Interview
Walking through my local Barnes And Noble a while back, I ran into a book titled “Wounds”. Interesting. The subtitle? “Six Stories From The Border Of Hell”. SOLD! After devilishly devouring the book, I got my hands on Nathan Ballingrud’s first story collection, “North American Lake Monsters”. I’m telling you, these two books have enriched my life immeasurably, with stories of Hell, Werewolves, Vampires, Aliens, but mostly, people. The people in Nathan’s stories come alive in my mind and refuse to leave, long after the reading is done, THAT’S the true sign of a great author, in my mind. Insidious. Here is my attempt to delve the depths of one of my favorite authors mind. How do the stories go from brain to book? IS humanity insignifigant, as Lovecraft would have us believe? What records would you take on your exile to a desert island? All of these questions and more are answered in this episode, plus you’ll get to know Nathan a bit better than you did before. Keep…

Episode 76 - Petrifying Poetry and Malevolent Metal
Good evening! Welcome to poetry night, Bobtober style. Prepare to be petrified with fear, as I read selected works of putrid poetry from Edgar Allen Poe, Emiliy Dickinson, HP Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard. Six poems in all await you, all sinister, all spookily spectacular. Here they are, in order of appearance - “Dead Man’s Hate” by Robert E. Howard “Halowe’en In A Suburb” by HP Lovecraft “Because I Could Not Stop For Death” and “I Felt A Funeral, In My Brain” by Emily Dickinson “The Haunted Palace” and “The Raven” by Edgar Allen Poe. Writhing in between the phantasmal poems are four songs by Sao Paulo, Brazil’s Goddess’ Of Gore, Nervosa. Episode 73 - Ghost Stories Volume II
I love a good ghost story. So, I’ve gathered eight of them here, told by the people that experienced these paranormal phantasms. Episode 70 - Dr. Frank of Mr. T Experience Interview
Dr. Frank of the Mr. T Experience, the catchiest band to “catch” my heart and ears, has been making music since the early 1980’s. That’s almost 40 years. Can I get a “HOLY SHIT”? For someone to do absolutely anything for 40 years is such a huge accomplishment, to have written so many incredible songs and done as much rad stuff in those 40 years as Dr. Frank has? Inconcievable, but there it is. Dr. Frank and I had a talk via Facetime in the summer of 2020 about some stuff. His early years prior to Mr. T Experience, how the MTX reissue campaign came to be, Dr. Frank answered some questions asked by fans I got via a Facebook Lookout! Did you know one of Peter Jackson’s (of LOTR fame) earliest movies is considered the “goriest movie ever made” and is also a zombie film? Indeed. Round Two features Horror movies with a “Satanic” theme. Spoiler Alert - Damien IS the anti-Christ, not just a mean kid. The Final Round features a question from those giants of British Horror - Hammer Films. You know, where Grand Moff Tarkin and Count Dooku got their respective starts. The music of this episode also ties into the two main themes - 45 Grave and Teenage Werewolves with songs straight from The Return Of The Living Dead movie soundtrack, then, TSOL and B…

Episode 64 - Ghost Stories Volume 1
Ready for Atrocious August? I am. Let’s start the month off right with a “Boo”cast filled with chills, frights and unnatural delights. This episode has a total of eight ghost and paranormal / supernatural encounters as told to me by the people that experienced them. Vanishing customers, swirling clouds of chaos and killer closets are but a small sample of the ghoulish delights awaiting you in this episode. Stories were told to me by Troy Taylor, Davey Tiltwheel, Pleasant Gehman, Donna Ramone, Gared O’Donnell and more! A bit of advice? Leave the lights on for this one, trust me. Music by The Marked Men, Black Breath, The Riverboat Gamblers and Planes Mistaken For Stars. This episode is brought to you by the creepiest of clothiers, the fiends of Discount Cemetery. Special thanks to Darren Curtis, who provided the spooky sounds at the beginning of the episode and during the stories. Prepare to be scared.

Episode 63 - Freedom Summer Of 1964 And Voting Rights In The American South
Freedom Summer was a voting rights movement that happened in Mississippi in the summer of 1964. What makes Freedom Summer so important? Freedom Summer really brought the plight of Black Americans to the front of the national conversation at that time. Three men were murdered by the KKK during Freedom Summer, simply because they were helping Black residents of Mississippi attempt to register to vote, among other things. This episode also covers, in a very condenssed way, the history of the rights of Black citizens of the United States to vote, from the end of the Civil War until current times (2020). Voter supression has been an issue for Black Americans for so long and continues to this day. Let’s talk about it, think of ways we can fix this and VOTE the bastards that maintain voter suppression OUT! Music in this episode by Charles Bradley and The BellRays.

Episode 62 - Endless Sommar Trivia Challenge
I love trivia, that’s no secret. Whenever I get an opportunity to write some questions and host some rad people in a trivia gameshow type of challenge, I’m all for it. My pals at Paper Street Cuts record recently released a super-duper awesome record called “Endless Sommar” that is a four way split between these bands - Lightweight, Slow Draw, Allweather and Sad Girlz Club. Wooooah, quite the line-up, I know and filled with my favorite bands around today. This episode is filled with fun, I’m gonna play ALL the songs off of Endless Sommar, I host my pals Uriel, Miski and Joe through three rounds of trivia questions relating to 80’s Hair Metal and 90’s Pop-Punk and the winner gets a copy of the record! How rad is that? Super rad.

Episode 61 - The Bollweevils Interview
The Bollweevils are Daryl, Ken, Pete Mumford and Pete Mittler. They are also the kings of Chicago punk. Those are fighting words, I know. Grab an Old Style and we’ll talk about it for a minute. What other Chicago area punk band are part of a secret organization called “The Legion Of Shame”? Huh? I didn’t think so. Dr. Frosty, Captain Fitna, The Amazing Mumford and The Red Hulk have a mission, and that mission is to bring discomfort to the entire world! What? 88 Fingers Louie? Pssshhhh. They’re not Superheros or even Supervillains. So you see, best punk band in the Chicago area, that’s The Bollweevils. Still not sure? Listen to them talk about stuff in this episode, stuff like ruining toilets, UFO’s, getting kicked out of various venues, drinking tequila and more. Listen to the four Bollweevils songs in this episode. Listen to Daryl and his unhealthy knowledge of comic book trivia. Above all, beware The Legion Of Shame, er, The Bollweevils. They’re coming for you next. A…

Episode 60 - State Of The Union with Bob or ALL COUNTRIES MATTER
A “State Of The Union” thing usually involves the US President talking about their accomplishments and how awesome they are at their job. Psssshhh. Let me throw down the gauntlet and get into the ring for a minute and tell you how things are REALLY going. And no, I’m not some Alex Jones dipshit talking about eating liberal’s body parts. Though, I do talk about eating the rich a little in this one. Hmm. I’ll just say I’m here to remind you that “ALL COUNTRIES MATTER” on this July 4th special episode. Things are pretty messed up in the USA right now, but real change is coming, I can feel it. Good stuff, not the usual dystopian Trump-era shit we’re used to at this point. We’ll also celebrate this ALL COUNTRIES MATTER day with songs by The Adolescents, Pinata Protest, Doc Hammer, Bad Cop/Bad Cop, Dillinger Four and The Arrivals.

Episode 59 - Daryl "Doc " Wilson Interview
Daryl Wilson is an amazing human being, I’m just going to get that out of the way now. Lead singer of The Bollweevils, Doctor, family man, my friend. Pre-pandemic, when we still had live shows, the Doc’s “injury reports” after each Bollweevils live show were a humorous break from the hum drum, a postive and funny thing to read on social media. Funny to an extent - I always felt a little bad for Doc when reading, as we’re the same age, or damn close and I know how much worse things hurt now than when I was 25. Daryl isn’t your run-of-the-mill singer, either, he’s all over the place and almost a one man show when The Bollweevils are playing. Besides all of that, Daryl has incredible insight into what it is to simply be human. We talk about skateboarding, punk rock, doctor stuff, racism and so much more. Four songs by The Bollweevils are also in this one - “Rodney”, “Pressure Cooker”, “Talk” and “Wrong From Right”. There are also PSA’s from the Chicago Alli…

Episode 58 - Turkish Techno / Tracy Soto / Cigarette Machine
Riverside, California is home to a triad of turds, a trio of titilating troubadors - Turkish Techno, Tracy Soto and Cigarette Machine. In this episode, I’m joined by Andy and Roger of ALL of these bands. That’s right, these workaholic music people have their paws in a three band sized pot of honey. Oh, the bands all sound oh-so sweet. Solid pop-punk / melodic punk just like all the bands you love, but better. There are two songs by Turkish Techno and two songs by Tracy Soto - Cigaette Machine has yet to record any tuneage. These songs will get the job done, no joke. Green Day trivia is also in this episode, up to the “Warning” era. Most importantly, we talk about white privilage and interacting with the police cops - and how much different things would be for us were we POC. Protests, Gen Z and fixing shit are also on the menu here.

Episode 57 - James Baldwin
James Baldwin was one of the most important authors, no, one of the most important human beings in the history of 20th century America. A civil rights movement activist who didn’t see himself as an activist. A man who fled the persecution and racism of the United States, only to come back over and over again because he could not stay silent about the horrors inflicted on Black Americans. He was a black man and a gay man, living during a period when both were shunned and persecuted by the country in which he was born and in which he was deeply invested. This episode contains a short history of Mr. James Baldwin, plus his 1963 speech, “The Free And The Brave”. Music is by The Bollweevils, Kira Jari and Danny Denial. PSA’s of the episode are from The National Black Theatre and Showing Up For Racial Justice. Please listen with an open heart and mind, you may learn something, like I did making the episode.

Episode 56 - War On Women
My introcduction to War On Women came via Facebook several years ago, when a friend posted a video for the song “Say It”. Powerful music, brutally powerful words. From that moment, I absolutely LOVED this band. Message and music are intertwined in such a perfect way. Pumping your fist along to the songs while in your mind and heart you resolve to make the world a better place. This band is cathartic for me, uplifting in the sense that they give voice to the voiceless. The world needs more bands like War On Women. In this episode, I had a talk with Shawna and Jenarchy of War On Women, plus we did some political punk inspired trivia. Four War On Women songs are also featured herein, Effemimania, Pro-Life?, Predator In Chief and The Chalise And The Blade.

Episode 55 - Tiltwheel Talks Hair Brained Scheme Addicts
Tiltwheel has been a band since 1992, in some form or another. That’s a long time and now we’re old as shit. 1999 was the year that Davey, Ross, Squire and Bob went into a studio to get drunk and record Hair Brained Scheme Addicts. The audio for this episode was taken from a recent Zoom call (all set up by Davey, he’s smart) wherein we sat around, some of us drank and talked all things Hair Brained. Inbetween the talking parts you’re gonna hear the record in it’s entirety. Here’s a track listing! 1. Texas 10 2. All I Care About Is Me, My Rum And You 3. Song That Used To Be Called Aaron’s Song 4. 2:07 AM 5. Rinse 6. Al Quint Is An Emo Pussy 7. Battle Hymn For The Recluse Youth Part 2 8. Battle Hymns For The Recluse Youth Part 1 9. Episode 53 - Morrissey Part Two - The Mozpire Strikes Back
Morrissey fascinates me. His music, starting with The Smiths and ending with his latest solo record - “I Am Not A Dog On A Chain” and the person himself. What is it about Morrissey that so many people love and/or love to hate? He’s lovely, controversial, talented, opinionated. The music, though, holy cow. Morrissey’s music has been a huge part of my life ever since the mid-1980’s and the purchase of “Meat Is Murder”. I can’t say how much this man’s music has meant to me over the years. However, in a strange twist of fate, “Bigmouth Strikes Again” is more than just a Smiths song, it seems to be Morrissey’s MO of the last several years. This episode focuses on the Morrissey “solo” years from 1988 up to now. We’ll be taking a fairly deep look at the records and who made them from 1988 to 2004, then a peek at the same from 2006 to the present. The very end covers “Morrissey Vs. the press”, which has been an ongoing thing since 1983 or so. Fun! The songs ar…

Episode 48 - Sarchasm Interview
Sarchasm, the band, not the attitude. Let’s be clear about that. But wait, are Sarchasm sarcastic? A double positive of a band? Yeah, I would say so. But! Mari is a monster that can’t eat pizza like a human. Alex can’t listen to music. Which is weird when you’re in a band? Quirks aside, Sarchasm are the nicest, funniest and rocking-est bunch of people from the East Bay. The music, ohhhh the music. So good. Toe tapping, do-si-do-ing, dance til your shoes fall off good. Mike Bruno wears so many hats. This is a figurative statement, not literal. Owner and operator of Long Island, New York’s Dead Broke Rekerds. Bassmaster of Iron Chic. Don’t forget Mike’s part bands like Down In The Dumps, after all, that is how he got the name Mike Dumps. History is important! Well, in this episode, Mike and I talked for a bit about all things Mikey Dumps - bands and music stuff, horror movies, life on Long Island and more. Horror movies? Episode 44 - Se Vende Interview
When did Se Vende steal my heart, as a band? Hmmm. Probably sometime around November of 2019, if I had to assign a date to something so ethereal. Se Vende is a punk rock band, but wait! There’s more. Se Vende also has the San Diego thing down in the best possible way. You’ll be cruising along listening, solid punk songs, then BLAMMO, a time change, a break down, that doesn’t seem like it will work, but goddamn, these fellas make it work so well. Joe Wood. The name brings to mind a smokey voice, soaked with whiskey and a lifetime of hard times and heartbreak. Joe’s songs are dark, no doubt, but guess what? So is life. Joe writes and sings about life, the dark corners of life, to be sure, but life nonetheless. After spending some time with Joe, I can’t help but think of how ALIVE the man is, especially when considering the normal topics of his songs - suicide, revenge, substance abuse, loss, love. The songs and music of Joe Wood can speak for themselves, so this episode has four songs from Joe’s time in TSOL. Two stories of the times that Tony Alva had to chastise me and what happened when Mr. Alva lost his $80.00 sunglasses. Pat and Uriel of Ash Williams sat and talked with me for a while about all kinds of stuff, but the horror movie trivia part of the interview is my favorite. Then, Pat, Uriel and I went on a ghost hunting excursion to San Diego’s Hotel Cosmopolitan, specifically room 11. We found a couple of interesting “things”, you’ll see. Ghost cat? Yes. Episode 40 - Ghost Hunting With Se Vende
When I asked Jonny, of the San Diego punk rock band Se Vende, whether or not he believed in ghosts his reply scared me silly. Jonny had quite the ghostly experience in an old, abandoned warehouse he lived in many years ago. The warehouse is still there, still abandoned, but not completely uninhabited, if you catch my drift. Something spooky is going on in the “Meat Locker”, the most menacing sounding warehouse I’ve ever heard of. In this episode, I’m joined by Jonny, Collin and Bre of Se Vende, plus Bre’s sister, Chloe, on a weird walkthrough of the extremely creepy warehouse of doom. We made it out without any problems, but we were prepared - which begs the question - are YOU prepared and brave enough to listen? I double dog dare you. Starting with working at my favorite skate shop and managing the shop’s sposored skater team, concluding with a few of the misadventures I had with my friend and pro skater Gator (yes, THAT Gator). Episode 28 - Skate And Destroy Part 1
Skateboarding and being a punk rock loving kid was a dangerous business in the early 1980’s, especially if you lived in a, well, let’s just say, less than enlightened and progressive town. Redneck town. That’s what I really meant. Here are tales of my early days skateboarding and being a little punk rock kid in the 1980’s. Chased by angry metalheads, watching skinheads nearly kill people at shows, sparring with the police-cops, finding a home in a local skate shop. There is something here for any disenfranchised child of the 1680’s, hopefully, you can relate. Fun, though rough days, that’s kind of the gist of this one. Note - I also have no idea how a 12 pack of beer is actaully split between 4 people. Hint - it is NOT 4 beers per person, as I claim, it is actually 3 beers per person. Thank you.

Playing, touring, recording, being the best band that they can. In my ears, heart and mind, they absolutely are one of the best bands out there today. John and I sat down at Fest 18 and talked about all things Dead Bars and more. I came away from that conversation with the following - John is one hell of a hard working and passionate dude, Dead Bars will acheive whatever they set out to acheive and the state of music today? Music, especially DIY punk, is thriving, mostly because of bands like Dead Bars and people like John. Couple of songs and a great talk with John of Dead Bars lies within. Check it out.

We were at Fest 18 in Gainsville, Florida. We went to a haunted Hippodrome. We drank a little and talked a bunch. This is the result, which I’m very, very happy with. May I present, City Mouse!

Episode 22 - The History Of Tiltwheel Pt. 5 - England
Tiltwheel had a heck of a year in 2000. We toured Japan. We toured England. In this episode, I’m talking all about the tour of England. And how we avoided most of the awesome tourist spots in England in favor of drinking in the various pubs scattered throughout the county all day and all night. Now, don’t let that deter you, there are some facinating tales of just what exactly makes England such a great country. Food, beer, cider, music, pubs, pubs, pubs and BBC 3. Really, it’s all about the people, as we made some lifelong friends on this one. Dickie Hammond is honored in this episode, for he truly made this tour the best, for me. Zeus, son!

Episode 21 - The Halloween Special
Halloween Special? I remember, as a child, being so happy around Halloween, just for the extra cartoons I’d get to see on TV as a “Special”. Well, here is my version of the old timey TV special. A Bobcast devoted entirely to the history of Halloween, up to modern times. Some key points here? The origin of Halloween, the history of Halloween in North America, “Devil’s Night” and general Halloween mayhem, mostly from the 1930’s until the 1990’s, the whole posioned candy and razory apple thing, the modern day verion of Halloween (think sexy ANYTHING costumes) and lastly - do satanic people actually celebrate Halloween? I would suggest you listen and get your final October dose of spookiness with me. Happy Halloween!

Episode 20 - The Whaley House
Just in time for Halloween, let me take you on a journey into the boundless realm of the supernatural. San Diego’s Whaley House has a reputaion of being VERY haunted. I’m here to talk to you about the haunts and history of the house. Starting with the history of early San Diego, the story of the Whaley family and several accounts of what may lie within these restless halls of haunted horrors, my story ends with my personal accounts of what I have experienced within the Whaley House. This one is a doozy, so turn on the lights and give the podcast a listen.

Episode 17 - Two Guns, Arizona
Recently visited Two Guns, Arizona on a vacation that included some of the most haunted areas of the American Southwest. Here’s my tale of curses, hauntings and all around bad stuff that makes up Two Guns, Arizona. Apache Death cave? Oh yeah, that’s covered. Devil’s Canyon? Also in Two Guns. Sounds like a (sarcasm) GREAT place, don’t it? The curse-removing sounds of the band Robot (re)Pair are at the end of the podcast. Enjoy.

Episode 16 - The History Of Tiltwheel Part 4 - Touring Japan In 2000
Tiltwheel touring Japan. Oh, the stories I have from that tour. Some highlights are the following - Trying to teach spanish curse words to our Japanese friend, the weird robotic traffic control measures on the highways of Japan, lobsters in the claw game machines. Beer dispensing vending machines? At that time, the year 2000? They were everywhere. What did I say about lobsters in a claw game? You heard it here first. Japan is so incredible, the people make it so. Listen and plan on making a trip to anywhere in Japan as soon as you can Well, listen first, then go. That’s my suggestion. Arigato.

Episode 14 - The Dodges
I love San Diego. Why? Because of bands like The Dodges. There are so, so many of the greatest bands in the world in San Diego. The Dodges are the whipped cream in the mocha of San Diego bands. Needed, wanted and loved. They have that special something that sets them apart from the everyday band. It’s truly hard to describe, so just listen and enjoy. Bonus? They are some of the nicest dudes around. We had a great talk. We had a great trivia game, in which I got killed. These guys are a package deal. As a band, as people, they are the best.

King Kong Vs. Godzilla is the greatest movie of all time. Fight me if you disagree. I kid, but it is such a great movie. We’ll talk about the history of Godzilla.
