DAME STEPHANIE SHIRLEY CH is a workplace revolutionary and successful IT entrepreneur turned ardent philanthropist. In 1962, she founded an all-woman software company that pioneered remote working, upending the expectations of the time. It was ultimately valued at $3 billion and made 70 of her staff millionaires.

Since ‘retiring’, her focus has been on philanthropy, especially autism and IT.

Her TED Talk has had over 2 million views, and her memoir ‘Let It Go’ is being made into a film produced by BAFTA-winning Damian Jones.

Voices and participation of women in society are more important than ever. The fact that women are so undervalued in most society is insane.

Thanks to some very strong women that decided they wanted to be paid the same as men, or treated them as equals (mind, body and soul), those women took a stand and because of such courage - their voices were heard.

Women simply wants to be respected for who and what they are, and to be able to feel comfortable in this world. And by comfort, I mean women want to feel that no one will take advantage of them.

Adapt to the situation you're in

Things change constantly: loved ones die. jobs end, as do relationships. There is no avoiding change as it will find you, challenge you and force you to reconsider how to live your life.

Choose to commit to creative solutions when you face a needed adjustment. Learning to adapt to new situations and people is paramount to anyone's survival, especially in the world of business.

Adaptation is essential so help embrace it by pushing past your comfort zone.

Give Back

Being part of something larger might be one of the best things we can do, both for others and ourselves. It’s easier to be charitable about something you are passionate about.

Finding your purpose is a smart thing to do—or, if you can’t figure that out yet, do a random good deed for a person or a cause, and see how it makes you feel. If giving back makes you feel better, you will be apt to spread the word and seek the help of others who can make an impact as well.

Giving back is truly a way for people to have a global impact when it comes to making the world a better place.

What framework can you use to figure out what to focus your time and energy on? How do you narrow down a to-do list to figure out what the most important items are? What can you do to stay disciplined and focused on the important tasks in your personal and professional lives? How do you build more discipline? How do you improve different areas of your life if you’re only focusing on one thing at a time? How do you set goals that pull you toward them? However, focusing on the wrong tasks one at a time will also be ineffective.
