Top Tips

Hire the right person

Having quality employees will help your company run and grow. However, there's never a right answer for the hiring the right person, as people have their own personalities and agendas.

It’s important that there is a strong hiring strategy in place when considering potential candidates and determine who the best people are to help lead the company to success is a must.

Notice what other skills do they have aside from their resume? Are they great problem solvers, do they know how to navigate through a problem and what kind of attitude do they have when under stress? This shows that they don’t need to be micromanaged, and will be able to take direction and make successful decisions.

Have effective communication

Effective communication is an important building block for successful organizations. Communication promotes motivation by informing and clarifying the employees about the task to be done, the manner they are performing the task, and how to improve their performance if it is not up to the mark.

Communication can also be a source of information to the organizational members for decision-making process as it helps the team to identify and assess their course of actions.

It's best to analyze how you are communicating efficiently to maximize the flow of work and individual productivity. This includes being a good model of efficient communications. People who can send and receive messages clearly serve as an asset to a company's brand and are more effective in their jobs.

Come up with a detailed plan

Developing a detailed plan takes time and resources. Coming up with a plan sets the direction and establishes priorities for your organization. It defines your organization’s view of success and prioritizes the activities that will make this view your reality. The plan will help your people know what they should be working on, and what they should be working on first. Poor planning is often worse than no planning at all.

A detailed plan essential if you want to have a successful business that's going to survive the startup phase. The process of writing a plan can do wonders to clarify where you've been and where you're going.

J. Douglas Holladay | How to Redefine Success for a Fulfilling Life
In today’s episode, we rethink the definition of success with J Douglas Holladay. Doug is the founder and CEO of Path North, a Georgetown University professor, former White House advisor, and the author of Rethinking Success: Eight Essential Practices for Finding Meaning in Work and Life.   In an age when more and more people are finding themselves trapped by the idea of a nonstop pursuit of material wealth, it’s time to take a moment and redefine what success should mean before we run ourselves into the ground, so what should success look like and what can we do to find long-lasting success that genuinely makes us better people?   What to Listen For What’s wrong with the current definition of success and why do we need to rethink it before we run ourselves into the ground? What is the difference between happiness and meaning, and how do you differentiate between the two so you are not chasing fleeting moments and rewards? Why is it more important to be comfortable sharing your weaknesses and failures instead of your strengths and successes? What role does forgiveness play in our ability to build and maintain relationships, and why can a lack of forgiveness be our downfall? How do we escape the trap of becoming our parents so we can take their best traits and ditch the worst traits? What can you do to find your own narrative while pushing back on everyone around you with their own narrative for who you are and who they expect you to be? What questions can you ask yourself to make sure you are living your story instead of the story everyone else wants you to live? What exercise can you do to integrate what you need to do and what you love to do?   Many of us define success through a lens we develop over years of experience and exposure to the world around us. Unfortunately for many, this has turned into an endless pursuit of more stuff to fill the void inside us created by the same society dangling the trappings of wealth in front of us no matter where we go in the modern world.    It’s time to redefine what success means so we can get out from under the obscene expectations set by society and start living a fulfilled life resulting from living a life inline with our values and not things.   A Word From Our Sponsors Share your vulnerabilities, victories, and questions in our 17,000-member private Facebook group at theartofcharm.com/challenge. Continuing the Conversation for Healing and Unity | (Part 2) Taking a stand against injustice and creating real change
“Let’s create not only some healing here but some real change. … Change is automatic, but progress is not. And so this is a conversation today to see if we can create some progress. … What this is really about is getting to what we can do to tap into unity, and love, and compassion, and connection to one another. What can we do to move forward?” – Tony Robbins It’s been over three months since the death of George Floyd, the unarmed, 46-year-old black man, who was unconscionably killed by police in broad daylight during an arrest in Minneapolis. Captured on cell-phone video and amplified in the media, the whole world witnessed his horrific death, and it has reignited a centuries-long conversation around race supremacy in the United States and the injustice that African Americans can face. The aftermath of George Floyd’s death — and combined stacking of others like Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, and most recently the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wis. — has brought this nation to a threshold. With thousands of people around the world in grief, humanity is speaking loud and clear: enough is enough, the time is now to create real change rooted in our nation’s foundation of ‘justice for all.’ Beyond change, we need progress. As Tony said in the first episode of this special two-part podcast series, change is automatic – but progress is not. The conversation continues. In this 2-hour episode, Tony hosts a panel of five unique, multi-generational leaders who share their experience of what it is to be Black in America and lend their voice to what we, as a unified society, need to listen to and hear, to unite, to make progress, and ultimately to tap into love, compassion, and our deep connection to one another. “If love is not yet won, the battle is not yet over.” – Martin Luther King III Part 2 Guests: Charlamagne tha God (Radio show host, author, influencer) Rev. Jesse Jackson (Civil rights activist, former aide to Martin Luther King, Jr.) Barbara Becnel (Journalist, film producer, prison reform advocate) Van Jones (Author, television host) Derrick Johnson (President and CEO of the NAACP)
