Parenting, Polyamory & Surviving A Refugee Camp
Pauline Nguyen has lived a very big life.  When she was 3 years old her family left Vietnam by boat. They spent six days on the South China Sea and arrived at a Thai Refugee camp where they lived for a year, before settling in Australia.  Once in Australia, however, things weren’t easy for the Nguyen kids, and Pauline fled home when she was a teenager.  These days, Pauline is an award winning author, spiritual entrepreneur and co-founder of Sydney's Red Lantern restaurant. And in this episode of No Filter, she talks to Mia Freedman about everything from being in a polyamorous relationship to running away from home at 17 to breaking the cycle of abuse with her own children... THE END BITS You can visit Pauline's website here - https://www.paulinenguyen.com.au/. Check out Pauline's book here - booktopia.kh4ffx.net/xBZaO.  GET IN TOUCH: Feedback? We’re listening! Big Sister Hotline: Episode 37, Feat. SAYOMI ARIYAWANSA
I’m so excited to introduce you to this week’s guest! SAYOMI ARIYAWANSA is a human rights lawyer and researcher looking at the circumstances of migrant workers in Australia. In this incredibly in depth chat, we talk about racism, migration, labour and classism and its particular impact on low paid migrant women workers.  We speak to little sisters about how to extricate yourself from a relationship that no longer serves you AND how to navigate the patriarchal imposed guilt of this; how to best support a close friend or family member when you learn someone has perpetrated sexual assault against them; and some practical tools for how to respectfully break up with someone who you still have lots of love for. If you’re enjoying the hotline, please consider rating and reviewing it! Every rating helps to elevate the podcast up the charts and get it into the ears of new listeners!  Feedback/Question submission: bigsisterhotline@gmail.com Patreon: www.patreon.com/clementineford Instagram: www.instragram.com/clementineford **** If this episode has triggered any trauma in you from experiencing sexual assault or rape, please call 1800 RESPECT.
