In today's show, I'm going to teach you how to 3X your opt-in conversions on your website and landing pages, and this might be one of the shortest most snackable episodes I've done. So here is the trick. Experienced marketers know that whenever you want someone to opt-in, so if you have a lead magnet, if you have an exit pop or an exit pop-up on your website that invites people to give you their information in exchange for something of value. So this is how you generate leads. So whether you have a landing page set up for your funnel, a sales funnel, or whether it's just your website and you've got a variety of lead magnets that invite people into your story, invite your users, your prospects into a customer journey where you can nurture them over time, an experienced marketer knows that the more fields of information that you request, the lower your conversion rate's going to be.

So while, of course, you want as much information as possible, you want the first name, we typically like the first name and last name in two separate fields so that we can use that in email marketing later. We want their cell phone number if we can get it. We want their email address. We might want the website address for their business, the name of their business. It's tempting to collect as much information as possible. However, if you want to 3X, 5X, 10X improve your opt-in rate, your conversion rate on your landing pages, and your website, here's what you need to do. Take it down to one field on the first phase of someone opting in.

So in other words, if you want to collect three, four, five pieces of data or information about your prospect on the landing page or on the given page where you're asking someone to opt-in, only include one field, the email address. And then if you want more information beyond that, allow them to submit it on a second page that they are redirected to once they've provided their email address. So now you've increased your opt-in rate, your conversion rate, and you're going to find that once someone has submitted their email address, one, worst-case scenario, you have an email address, so you can now nurture them over time with an email campaign, but a lot of your people, a large percentage of your audience, if they've taken the time to give you their email address and then they're redirected to another page where you might ask for two, or three, or four more pieces of information, a lot of your users are going to go ahead and take the time to fill it out because they feel vested in the process.

They've already given you their email address. Had you had asked all those questions on page one, I guarantee you that a large percentage of your audience would not have even filled out the form to begin with, which means you lost the lead, your conversion rates are suffering. But once someone has taken the time to give you their email address, again, worst-case scenario, you can still nurture them. Best case scenario, once you've then redirected them to another page where you ask for a few more data points, a large percentage of your audience is going to feel vested and committed, and they'll just go ahead and give it to you. So who you would have lost had you put all those questions on the first page you might now gain because you're only asking for what seems to be a very insignificant piece of information, their email address upfront. And then, as a follow-up, you redirect to another page where you can ask for a few more data points.

I promise you, if you start leveraging this simple tactic, it's a refinement to what you're already doing, I guarantee you that you're going to three, five, 10X your conversion rates, and you're going to get more and more leads over time.
