Ep. 24 - GROWTH HACK: How To Get Real Cell Phone #'s From Your Website Leads

So, let's jump into today's show. Today, I'm going to share with you a marketing hack that is simple and free. So, not a big deal, it is just a tactical move if you sell a service or a product that is high ticket. My definition of high ticket, anything a $1,000 and above. And by the way, the more high ticket you are, meaning we're $5,000, $10,000, a 100, 250, half a million, the higher the price point is on the service that you offer, the more that I can nearly guarantee, you're never going to do business with someone until you have spoken with them.
Also, the more nuance there is in the services that you provide or your product, meaning the more enlightenment, the more education that someone has to learn about what you do before they give you their hard-earned money. Also, this is going to be really important. And basically anyone, any B2B business, most likely, and a lot of B2C businesses for that matter, before you can ever sell something to someone before they're ever going to recruit you or hire you for your products or services, you have to speak to them. And yet, think about it, on your website, on your landing pages, in your sales funnels, a lot of times you're asking for a name and an email address. And you might be asking for a phone number, but you're probably not getting many of them, but this hack that I'm going to give you is going to absolutely boost the amount of people that give you a real cell phone number.
And why is this important, by the way? One, again, if you have to talk to them eventually, getting that cell phone number, the actual device that vibrates or rings in their pocket is so much more valuable to you than an email address, especially when, oftentimes, the email address that people will provide you is an email address that is their junk drawer email address. Meaning, they're not giving you their email address that mom and dad emails them on, or that the CEO or C-suite of the company emails them, they're giving you some junk drawer email address, which by the way, you can grow a business with junk drawer email addresses. But if you really want to collect cell phone numbers, if you really want to have a discussion, if that is a prerequisite before them doing business with you and you bringing them into your business, here's one little hack that I'm going to give you today.
Whenever you're offering lead magnets or something in exchange for someone to give you their information, do this. We live in a microwave culture, meaning, once I've decided that I want something, I want it now. I don't want it later. If I've crossed that threshold of decision-making and I've decided that what you're offering me, again, that could be a white paper, that could be a video education series, that could be a coupon or a discount offer towards your product. That could be a trial membership to your SaaS software, or perhaps a mastermind group. If I've decided that I want it, I want it now. And oh, by the way, if you go back to episode number eight, it was called three sales funnels you should be using to grow your business, you'll get a really, really comprehensive list of potential lead magnets that you can and should be using for your business.
So, in the copy of the website, of the webpage, landing page, sales funnel, where you're asking me for a piece of information in exchange for something that I want, again, that lead magnet, say this, and by the way, this can all be done with marketing automation. Wherever it is that I'm signing up, say this, "Give us your email address and we'll send you X in the next 24 hours or so, or provide us your cell phone number and we'll text it to you right away." So, knowing that we live in a microwave culture and leveraging this person's sense of urgency, you're incentivizing them by simply delaying what you're willing to email them by a day and texting it to them right away. You're incentivizing them to give you their cell phone number. And once you have that cell phone number, you're rocking, you're good, you're solid.
You are able to reach out to them at whatever point you deem necessary or appropriate to actually try to convert them into becoming a client or a customer. It's that easy. Again, it's free, it's easy, it's fast, it's just a small change to your tactics. Offer to send them whatever that thing is, X, your lead magnet in the next 24 hours or so, but tell them that if they provide you their cell phone number, you'll actually go ahead and send it to them or text it to them right away. I literally have run campaigns before where I've gotten an excess of 74% of the people who wanted that asset, that lead magnet, that gave us their real cell phone number.
Imagine having that in your CRM, imagine the power of being able to connect with that person via automation, marketing automation, or by actually outbound sales with your team, because you have a real number to reach out to them. The same cell phone number that everyone else in the world calls when they want to reach your prospect. I hope you found this helpful. It's a great hack.
