Self-Talk Determines Your Future
Prediction About Your Future
What you SAY to yourself when you TALK to yourself can predict your future. These are called "self-fulfulling prophecies." And while we cannot speak things into existence (only God can do that), what we say to ourselves does impact our spiritual, emotional, and psychological well-being.
The Power of the Tongue
Proverbs 18:21 (NIV) says, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” The tongue not only influences what we say to ourselves but also what we say to others. Dale Carnegie once said, “When we are not engaged in thinking about some definite problem, we usually spend about 95 percent of our time thinking about ourselves.”
Victor versus Victim
If we allow the truths of Scripture to shape our inner dialogue, we empower ourselves to live as a victor and not a victim. Examples of constructive self-talk, rooted in Scripture, things you can say and count on, include: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). “God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
The Power of Scripture Over You
Justin Peters in a recent webinar showed a graphic from a study done by the Center for Bible Engagement called the “Power of 4” Effect and found that the life of someone who engages scripture 4 or more times a week looks radically different from the life of someone who does not. In fact, the lives of Christians who do not engage the Bible most days of the week are statistically the same as the lives of non-believers. The study went on to show that for someone who engages the Bible 4 or more times a week is: 407% more likely to memorize scripture, 228% more likely to share faith with others, 59% less likely to view pornography, and 30% less likely to struggle with loneliness.
How to Know the Truth about What Is In Your Heart
The truth is, our thoughts are really a reflection of what’s in our heart. Jesus said in Luke 6:45, “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” This same principle extends to our internal dialogue as well. When we fill our hearts with God's truth, our self-talk will naturally be, constructive. When we fill our hearts with negative thoughts, our self-talk will naturally be destructive.

Why Do People Hate You?
Why Do People Hate You?
If you are a Christian, what Jesus said pertains to you: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged TO the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong TO the world, but I have chosen you OUT of the world. THAT is why the world hates you.” (John 15:18 &19)
Fear
To know how to deal with hate, you first have to understand hate. So why are Christians, who are called to love, sometimes so vehemently hated? The short answer is, people fear what they do not understand or agree with.
Is There Good Hatred?
Yes, those who love God, should hate, as this text makes clear: “O you who love Jehovah, hate what is bad. He is guarding the lives of his loyal ones; He rescues them from the hand of the wicked.” (Psalm 97:10) Jehovah in the text is another name for God.
The Walking Dead
Scripture calls non-Christians as “dead.” Ephesians 2:1-2 (ESV) says, “And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.”
Communication
On the topic of communication, it’s reported that one the world's largest advertising agencies at the time, Leo Burnette, taught its employees, “Don’t say anything so it can be understood; say it so it cannot be, possibly misundersood." Leo Burnette created some of the most famous advertising characters in the world. Some of you will remember The Jolly Green Giant (sing along "ho ho ho, green giant"), Morris the Cat, Charlie Tuna, the near-unemployed Maytag repairman, the Pillsbury doughboy, Tony the Tiger, and the legendary Marlboro Man.

Why Doesn't God Answer My Prayers?
A lot of people wonder why God doesn't answer their prayers … or at least most of their prayers. The short answer is that God actually DOES answer our prayers. He has one of three answers to every prayer.
Frustration
But the answering of prayers can be frustrating especially when we believe we have done everything right to get an answer, but we don't get the answer.
One of the reasons why God may not answer our prayers is unconfessed sin. Sin is the barrier between us and God, and it hinders our communication with Him.
If God Answered Everybody's Prayers
Think about the answering of prayers this way: if you could ask in any prayer and get anything you wanted, what about the next person…what if they wanted you to do something that you didn’t want to do?

The bad news is: there’s no amount of “good” anyone can do to get into Heaven.

How do we get God's grace to get into Heaven?
The Bible gives a three-word answer: by trusting Christ. “No longer counting on being saved by being good enough or by obeying God’s laws, but by trusting Christ to save me.” (Philippians 3:9 NIV)

We Are What We Think About
What we feed our mind directly impacts how we feel and what we do. That’s why it’s so important to know how to get rid of stinkin’ thinkin’ BEFORE we can figure out, “What do you do when you can’t get away from you?”
There's One Person Who Loves Your Isolation
His name is Satan. The devil loves to find isolated people and stir it up real good…telling you things like “Don’t stand for that" or "You don’t deserve to be treated that way. Take revenge. Get ‘em back" or "It’s okay for you to look at that porn site; after all your spouse won’t give you what you want, so go ahead.”
Is Satan a Real Person?
Peter 5:8 (AMP) says, “Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.” Any time we’re isolated, we’re a prime target for attack. It’s hard to fend off someone or some thing by ourselves; we can be easily overpowered.

In the New Testament, there was a great pastor named Timothy who pastored the Ephesian church. The Apostle Paul tell us where Timothy got his start in 2 Timothy 1:5 - “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice…and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.”
No Perfect Moms
The true significance of Mother’s Day can be summed up this way: God used your mother to bring you into this life because He has a specific purpose for you. God knew the exact DNA he needed to create a unique you, and that took your Mom, not someone else's Mom. There may be some like you, but there is no one who is a carbon copy of you. Even identical twins are not identical.

What's the Big Deal About Easter?
Easter Proves What Jesus Christ Said Was True
Easter proves once and for all what Jesus Christ said was true: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26 NIV).
“Because I live, you also will live.” (John 14:19)
Jesus’ resurrection is the only permanent return to life. Everyone else who had been raised to life in the Bible died again. Jesus rose and never died again. No other person or claimed prophet who died is alive today.
Two Words To Understand About Easter
* Eternity. The one thing we can all agree on, no matter what your religion or faith or philosophy is: all of us will die a physical death. While it doesn’t matter what religion or faith you follow to know that we all die a physical death, what does matter is to know what happens to you after you die a physical death.
*
Forgiven. Forgiven is what you can expect and what you receive the moment you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
Easter is a celebration of the triumph of true life over death when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Adrian Rogers once said, “Jesus is to your spirit as the blood of Jesus is to your life.”

The most read, best-selling, most-translated book in history is the Bible. How can we trust that the Bible is the word of God and that it’s true?
Written Over a 1500 Year Period
The Bible was written over 1500 years, 40 different authors, 3 different continents, 3 different languages, and they didn’t even know each other. And they all came up with the same story.
Prophecy
About a third of the Bible is prophecy containing over 1,800 predictions on more than 700 separate events, as written in over 8,300 verses.
More than 300 predictions alone are about just Jesus Christ in the Old Testament, many of which are incredibly detailed, years before they happened.

The Next Event in God's Prophetic Plan
Before Jesus’ second coming, first will come the rapture of the church. Rapture means, “The Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive, and are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” That’s Paul speaking in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.

How Do I Know I Am Really Saved?
Are you really saved as a Christian?
How do I know I am really saved? If you consider yourself a Christian, have you ever wondered if you are really saved for eternal life in Heaven? A lot of believers doubt their salvation because they don’t see any signs of real faith in their lives.
Doubt
You would think Christians should never doubt their decision to follow Christ, but the Bible actually encourages Christians to examine themselves to see if they are truly “in the faith”. 2 Corinthians 13:5 (NLT) says, “Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves...Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.”

God has given us a checklist for how Christians can know for sure that they have eternal life in heaven, and it’s found in 1 John 1:3. Take look at the list there.

The Most Dividing Question in the World
The Most Dividing Question
The most dividing question in the world is, "What are you going to do about Jesus?" Have you ever noticed just the mention of Jesus upsets people? Luke 12 beginning in verse 52 Jesus says, “From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other…father against son…son against father… mother against daughter…daughter against mother… mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.” That happened when Christ was on earth, and it's still happening today.
What Matters Most
But what matters most is where you are going to spend eternity, not who’s against who on earth. Jesus knew there would be division because of Him. And we have free will to make the choice: do we accept Christ or not? We either stand with Christ and spend eternal life in Heaven with Him as our reward, or we deny Christ and spend eternal life in Hell.

Why do resolutions become disillusions? Using will power, instead Holy Spirit power, is why New Year's resolutions quickly become New Year's disillusions. Right before Jesus ascended into Heaven, He said in Acts 1:8, “...You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you…”
Don't Call on Resolutions
Instead of calling on resolutions to change you, call on the Holy Spirit to change you. Get that power when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Is all I have to do is accept Christ, and I automatically have the Holy Spirit in me? The answer is Yes. When Jesus was on earth and right before he ascended into Heaven, He was telling his disciples that even though He was not going to be with them on earth, the Father would be sending them the Holy Spirit in a few days. Did you know there are three types of bankruptcy? Physical, moral, and spiritual. God is interested in more than just your reputation. Think of the many people you’ve heard about over the years who had a great reputation but later RUINED that reputation with a moral failure, drugs, alcohol, theft, domestic violence, or something else. Reputation is what we see of someone in the daylight, but CHARACTER is what goes on behind closed doors that NO one sees except God. Reputation is external whereas character is internal. No one can change someone’s heart but God, not even you! In Ezekiel 36:26 in the Good News Translation, God said to the Israelites: “I will give you a new heart and a new mind. I will take away your stubborn heart of stone and give you an obedient heart.”

Did You Know That God Does Not Punish You?

God does not punish you
Did you know that God does not PUNISH you? That’s because if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, all of your sins - past, present, and future - have already been paid for. Notice that I said “IF” you have accepted Christ, your sins were nailed to the cross when Jesus was crucified. If God were to punish you again, that’s like “double jeopardy”, being tried for the same crime twice in criminal court. God CORRECTS us, but he does not PUNISH us. He will use PAIN to correct us if we CONTINUE to act in sinful ways and refuse to turn from that sin. If God did NOT discipline, He would not be a caring Father. Just as we should lovingly discipline our children for their well-being, so does our heavenly Father lovingly correct His children for THEIR benefit. That’s you and me.
