Daphne Byrne (Hill House Comics) by Laura Marks Interview When grieving, support can come in many ways. For Daphne, it came as a demon. Turn-of-the-century New York is a growing metropolis for many, but not for Daphne Byrne. After her father's death, her mother is drawn to a spirtualistic group that claims to speak to the dead. Daphne sees through their act right away, but something from the other side sees her too. Or someone? Daphne finds herself in new company, Brother. He offers support and encourages Daphne to stand up for herself...and to use the powers he has too. About Laura Marks Laura Marks is a PEN Award winning playwright, television writer and comic book writer. Her debut comic series for DC's Hill House Comics, DAPHNE BYRNE (with art by Kelley Jones), will be released as a hardcover graphic novel in November 2020. Weight Lifting Is a Waste of Time (So Is Cardio & There’s a Better Way to Have The Body You Want).       Perhaps you've been lifting weights for a few years. But do you even look like you work out? Are you spending disproportionate amounts of hours exercising wasting your time? Many fitness “experts” defend weights and cardio like they are infallible, but where are the results? Why does almost nobody look even marginally athletic?         It's been quite some time since I interviewed Dr. John Jaquish in the episode .     But he has just published a brand new book entitled       In it, he and and his guest co-author Henry Alkire tackle the questions above as they explore the science that supports the argument that traditional weight lifting is a "waste of time" and lay out a superior strength training approach that has been seen to put 20 pounds of muscle on drug-free, experienced lifters (i.e., not beginners) in six months. Fitness may be the most failed human endeavor, and you are about to see how exercise science has missed some obvious principles that when enacted will turn you into the superhuman you always wanted to be. John Jaquish, PhD. has spent years researching and developing improved approaches to health.       He is the inventor of the most effective bone density building medical technology which is now partnered with Tony Robbins and OsteoStrong for rapid clinic deployment. Inventor of X3, a technology that is proven to develop muscle much faster than conventional weight lifting, all with the lowest risk of joint injury, Dr. Jaquish methods are used in training the world's most elite athletes and associations such as the entire Miami Heat organization, various NFL and NBA players, as well as Olympians. During our discussion, you'll discover: -Why lifting weights is the wrong way to build muscle...6:21           -A workout using the VRT protocol...15:05         -Ways to maximize hyperplasia in the muscles during VRT...17:30         -Why you shouldn't worry about your muscle fiber type...29:15         -The questions an ideal exercise program should cover...31:45         -Why doing cardio for weight loss is a lie...41:30       -Selecting the best training bands...47:30       -Whether or not drugs are necessary to enhance training...53:45       -How the fitness industry has failed to make people truly fit...1:00:05 -And much more!

352: It's Time To Create Your 10 Year Vision
Do you have a clear vision for what the next 10 years of your life will be like? If not, would you like my help creating one? If you have one, do you think it would be beneficial to revisit it? Last week, I came across a journal entry I wrote back in 2016. It was titled “The Miracle Morning Movement 10 Year Vision.” When I reread it, I was inspired by some of the possibilities, amazed to realize how much of it had already come true, and reminded that we can all benefit from creating and maintaining a 10-year vision that drives our behavior each day. I want you to be able to look back on this moment and say to yourself, “I did it. I got clear on the life I was committed to creating, what I needed to do, who I needed to become to create the most fulfilling life I could imagine, and I made it happen.” Today, Shawn joins me to talk about the astounding problems with our healthcare system, the importance of diet and exercise in illness prevention, and the major cultural changes that need to happen to help us become a healthier society. KEY TAKEAWAYS * First, you’re going to hear a detailed example of a 10-year vision to show you what it looks like when things come to fruition. * Then we’re going to explore why creating a 10-year vision is worth your time. * Finally, you’re going to learn a step-by-step process you can use to create a 10-year vision of your own. Get The Full Show Notes To get full access to today's show notes, including audio, transcript, and links to all the resources mentioned, visit Subscribe, Rate & Review I would love if you could subscribe to the podcast and leave an honest rating & review. 394: Todd Henry - The Hidden Forces That Drive Your Best Work (The Motivation Code)
Text LEARNERS to 44222 for more details about The Learning Leader Circle Full notes at Twitter: @RyanHawk12 #394: Todd Henry - The Hidden Forces That Drive Your Best Work Show notes: * What is the most valuable land in the world? * "The graveyard... All of the stuff we carry with us for our life and never put out into the world... All of that valued is buried in the ground." * The two words that Todd wrote down after coming to this realization? "Die Empty." * “The rough edges they decry you for now… Are the very rough edges they will celebrate you for later.” * What drives us to unleash our best work? * Drawing on interviews with over 100,000 working professionals, the answer is no one size fits all. Todd Henry shows, in fact, that there are six unique "motivational archetypes"... * They are: * The Visionary strives to make her mark on the world by building an ideal future, even when others may not see as far ahead. * The Achiever relishes a finished product and must conquer whatever obstacle comes his way, no matter how difficult or time-consuming. * The Team Player values being part of a group and will go to great lengths to achieve unity and enhance collaboration. * The Learner is obsessed with mastering new skills and showing off what she knows--which is often a lot. * The Optimizer thrives when systems are running smoothly and finds great satisfaction when things are done the "right way." * The Key Contributor shines at the center of the action, especially when others can recognize the value of his work. * Todd's work teaches us to decode our motivational type so we can structure projects, have conversations, make decisions, and even choose career paths to amp up engagement and achieve fulfillment. Once we know how to activate our inner drivers, we can transform the work we do into the work we love. * Why should you write? * "If you can learn to write, you'll be invited into rooms." * "Turn the ineffable into something." * Read, comprehend, synthesize, write... * "People won't follow you because of your position or title. You have to persuade them. You have to cut through the noise, hone your skills. It's a craft you must work on." * Have empathy, uniqueness, precisions. Have empathy for the end user. * Have an intended audience: one person in mind. Ramp up your empathy for the end user... * "We wait for tasks to motivate us and that's exactly backwards. We need to bring our motivation to what we do. We have to train ourselves to bring our motivation to our work instead of waiting for our tasks to motivate us." * Because of the motivation code, "I have a language now that I never had a language for previously" * A new framework for understanding people. It's created "aha" moments * "Self-awareness is the first step to maturity." * "It helps use discern areas where we're insecure." * What was Todd thinking five minutes prior to going on stage at the Global Leadership Summit? 10,000 in the audience and hundreds of thousands watching worldwide... * "I reminded myself how grateful I was to be there..." It was calming.
