Episode 110 - Everyone in fandom remembers the bombshell news late in 2022 heard exclusively in episode 106 – Unleash the Hoard(ers)! of the 42 to Doomsday podcast, announcing the discovery of a hoard of audio-visual material recorded off domestic television in Australia dating back to the early 1970s. We promised you, our loyal listeners, that we would keep you up to date with any new information as it came to hand. Well, we come through with our promise big time by bringing you an exclusive interview with Professor Jason Bainbridge, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, the man responsible for taking on this vast collection and integrating it into the media studies course at the University of Canberra. Listen as Professor Bainbridge discusses his history with the show, the role popular culture plays in our present day lives, the state of the Australian television and film industries, before he moves on to discuss the vast scope of the collection, what he hopes to achieve with it academically, and his hopes for what might be waiting to be brought blinking into the light of day.

Episode 109 - Doctor Who has always had a troubled relationship over the years with Australian censors. In this episode we demonstrate how troubled with the able assistance of researcher Mike Pummel who has dug up a treasure trove of correspondence relating to the many cuts that were inflicted upon our favourite show!
We discuss the process of how episodes of Doctor Who and other TV shows were submitted for review before transmission and what needed to be excised to achieve a ‘family friendly’ rating during the 60’s 70’s and 80’s. Was there any method to their madness? Or was it down to an individual's view on how to protect fragile Australian minds from British filth and violence?
What other shows failed to escape the dreaded guillotine and ‘Holy censorship!’, we detail the cuts made to Caves of Androzani Part 4 and would have Mark’s ‘directors cut’ suggestion for the ending saved the show from cancellation?
All this plus Rob goes back to the sweet, sweet 90s and gives us all a taste of Young Rob's percolating bile against the New Adventures!

Episode 104 - During April of 1983, Peter Davison was shipped from good ol' Blighty to the colonies for a breakneck promotional tour of our Great Southern Land to meet and greet the general public and Doctor Who fans within the confines of our largest department chain, Myer!
This 'blink and you miss it' visit lives on in the memories of only the select few who attended. However, through the miracle of the internet, the mighty Australian Doctor Who zine, Zerinza, plus the recollections of our wonderful listeners, Mark and Rob decamp for 1983 and revisit Peter Davison's tour of our shores where he dazzled hundreds, nay, thousands of impressionable Australian youths.
Join us as we recount those wonderful times as well as an interview with local journalist, Chris Middendorp, who was there on the day Doctor Who came to Melbourne!

Episode 103 - It's Xmas time but not the one you are expecting! Mark, Dave, Richard and Rob are back together on the couch warding off the winter chills by talking Doctor Who! Listen to us reminisce about watching the Dalek movies on the big screen in glorious 4K where we were so close we could feel their fire, and then burrow our way down the nostalgia tunnel to the good old pirate VHS scene where we discuss how we got to see and acquire vintage Doctor Who and how technological advances along the way made it much easier to watch out favourite shows without waiting 18 months to hit Australia TV.
That meddlesome Master is the focus of our Target book club and we are completely bemused by some of the more umm ‘interesting’ turns of phrase from two director's turned authors and crack open our new (and undamaged) Season 22 box sets and discuss the new documentaries, the season as a whole and is there anything else left to say about this turbulent era of the programme?
All this plus our mid year fanwank of the year awards and will a certain audio production company who ‘love stories’ be given a free pass or again take away the grand prize!

42 to Doomsday - SHADA - A Review (from 1992!)
To celebrate the release of Season 17 on Blu-Ray which includes the 235th version of SHADA since it’s untimely(?) demise in 1979, Mark presents a soon to be award winning dramatisation / audio book / poorly impersonated reading of his then contemporary review of the J-N-T cobbled together version, which appeared in issue 73 of the Doctor Who Club of Victoria’s fanzine Sonic Screwdriver.
An interesting footnote to this is that J-N-T did actually sell his memoirs to the Cardiff Pravda (a.k.a Doctor Who Magazine) after this ‘review’ was published!

Episode 92 - 2020 was a year like no other, and in this episode we are again joined by Aron Challinger, proprietor of Aron's Collectibles, to discuss the impact COVID 19 had on Doctor Who merchandising, particularly from a new series perspective.
We find out what has (and what hasn't!) been flying off the shelves. We ponder the question: are manufacturers delaying new releases until changes are made to the series AND do fans really need to sell a kidney to own a complete set of Doctor Who WH Allen Hardbacks?

We focus on our northern cousins (aka the country bumpkins from Queensland) and their (sometimes extreme!) contemporary views on Season 17!
Gasp at the caustic contemporary editorials ranting against Season 17, cringe at the views in the letters pages that will make you want to take a long, hot shower and grimace at a ‘unique’ retrospective on Target novels and where they went wrong!

Episode 39 - Before podcasts, before cosplay, before the discovery of time travel, there was…NOTHING! Well, not entirely. In ye olden days, when fans went to meetings riding on the backs of pterodactyls there was…the (PAPER) FANZINE! Within those hallowed and now yellowed pages, fans would gather together in a papery, non-digital environment to express their ideas, love (and hate – some things will never change!) about the show.
One of the very best of these was none other than TSV, the august fanzine from across the ditch in New Zealand. Mark and Rob chat with TSV editor Paul Scoones. Happy New Year (eve) everyone and to help you bring in the new year in style we release our second minisode / cutaway! The 28th February 1985 saw the first attempt at the cancellation / postponement/ hiatus / whatever of the classic series starring the then Doctor, Colin Baker. To protest (at this let's be honest ludicrous move) in March of that same year Ian Levine harnessed the vocal talents of many a Z list celebrity to 'sing' for the series return to the small screen in a musical opus called Doctor in Distress. To celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary of this particular single, Rob and Mark again follow the podcasting herd and proudly release their first DVD commentary to accompany the music video for this fine recording. And just like U2's middling recent album we are giving it away free!
