Welcome to Episode #35 of YB2C Live!, the podcast for entrepreneurs, small business owners, and freelancers, brought to you by Your Business Your Brand Creatively, our company that works with the branding, marketing, copywriting, communications, and productivity projects with our clients locally and worldwide.
We record the podcast every Thursday from our studio in the Green Garage Detroit Co-Working Community in Midtown Detroit. Our guests are scheduled using the Acuity Scheduling app(affiliate link thanks!), and the podcast is recorded using the Zoom app. (affiliate link, thanks!).
Our special guest today is Scott Lowell, co-owner of the Traffic Jam and Snug Restaurant located in Midtown Detroit. In this episode, Scott tells us how he and his co-owners bought and enhanced the Traffic Jam restaurant and nurtured it through the “hard times” of the 1980s in Detroit, in the neighborhood once known as the “Cass Corridor.”
Scott tells us about all of the different options available at his restaurant, including the “Snug” part—I learned something new today!
Scott also tells us about the ups and downs of owning a restaurant, and gives us his thoughts about the seemingly new explosion of new restaurants in Detroit, and how his businesses are dealing with all of the recent growth in downtown and Midtown Detroit, especially for those businesses like his that have been here for decades. Scott reminds us that he is an unabashed “capitalist!”
The Traffic Jam and Snug Restaurant is located right around the corner from my office in the Green Garage near Wayne State University and I was very honored and excited to have Scott Lowell as my guest for this episode.
