Welcome to this week’s episode of the YB2C Live! Podcast for Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners. Every week we discuss the entrepreneurial journey, including interviews with business owners of all sizes from Detroit and all over the world who share their stories to give you inspiration, motivation, and tips for overcoming challenges and achieving success for your business.
This week, for YB2C Live! Episode #48, we welcome Karen Chappelle, a former deputy attorney in Los Angeles California who went back to school to get a Master’s Degree in Arts Management and moved back to her hometown of Detroit Michigan to start an arts management company, Casablanca Consultants.
Karen loved her law career; she was a practicing attorney for over 30 years. But she also loved the arts, especially the theatre, and spent a lot of time in California working with theatre groups and arts associations. After her husband died and her son moved to Broadway to find his own fame and fortune—which he did as a member of the original cast of “Hamilton—Karen, armed with her new Arts Management degree, decided to leave California and come back home where she grew up and where a lot of her family still lived.
Karen knows that the arts scene in Detroit has always been vibrant and robust, and she also knew that she wanted to be a part of it, and so she set about finding the help she needed to start her own arts management company, including working with SCORE, and then with me and my company, Your Business Your Brand Creatively.
Please download and listen to the episode to find out more about Karen Chappelle and Casablanca Consultants Detroit, including the amazing Detroit Heritage Theatre festival that Karen has put together that highlights playwrights who wrote 10-minute plays about Detroit.
