Remember When We Caught The Spirit? (feat. Pastor Shirley Caesar and Ashon Crawley)
Can You Hear It? I Know You Caught The Spirit This week, Josh and Tracy are taking you to church. First, they talk about their time in the pews, from the ways they've had to reconcile their faiths and identities to the music that has stuck with them. They hear about the deep, poetic roots of Gospel in Black identity from writer and professor Ashon Crawley. And they sit down with pastor and legend Shirley Caesar to talk about her reverence for the music, her unforgettable “greens, beans, potatoes, tomatoes” meme, and the importance of finding joy right now. Our Election System is Based on 5 Black Ppl Being Worth 3 white but the US is definitely a Democracy
I know because my fascist government that sends its CIA to destabilize other countries it criticizes for not being democracies in bloody coups that kill millions of innocents all over the world while waging genocide against Black people for over 3 centuries while begging me to send $3 to a white cis man in order to save the country from another white cis man told me so...even though we don't have a direct election method and I actually vote for another random person in my state to vote for me--not the president. Phoebe & Stephanie Beatriz Get Real About Family
It's the holidays, y'all, so that means eating lots of carbs, hopefully a niece pressie aka present or two, and of course, family. All families are unique with their own set of quirks, flaws, magic, and stress. Therefore, it only makes sense that during this holiday season, Phoebe talks about the family of it all. And she's thrilled to be joined in the studio with star of "Brooklyn Nine Nine," and the upcoming film "In The Heights" Stephanie Beatriz. She is so open, vulnerable, and funny. It's a wonderful and powerful conservation. Plus, as always, we answer some audience questions. Enjoy, you gois!!! What's Your Drama
What's Your Drama
Lainey Gossip
Dirty Roommates, Toxic Husbands, and Just Go Get the D
We kick things off today with Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber. If you've been listening to us for a while then you know we have inappropriate but very legal crushes on these two. So yes, it's safe to say we are very excited for their upcoming single together. After that teeny-bop session it's time for your drama! First up, we hear from "Leena" who is dealing with a very messy girlfriend. And she's talking real messy. Rotting wet towels and crusty film all over the place. But as we find out, the grossest person of them all is Lainey.   Then it's on to our next letter writer who is in a very troubling relationship with her ex husband who is her husband again??? This one is a doozy but Lainey and I are very much in agreement on what she needs to do. Finally, we end on "Brandon" who is trying to decide if pursuing a new hot relationship with someone makes sense during Covid. Lainey detangles this one pretty quickly because as you know, nothing stands in the way of some good ol' fashioned D. We hope you enjoy the show and keep sending me all your DRAMA! Send your advice questions my way at sasha@laineygossip.com. We also love hearing from you on Twitter at @sasha_tong and @laineygossip and Instagram at @lostandfoundapothecary and @laineygossip. And of course subscribe wherever you get your podcasts, and make sure to leave feedback and comments because it helps others find our show!     See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
