FAMILY FOR REAL | RACE, SEX, & POLITICS IN THE CHURCH | PART 1
Jesus had a vision of ethnic unity. His vision was that all believers from around the globe would ultimately unite as one family to love God and love one another. His vision is spelled out in the last book of the Bible where it says that a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnicity and language, would gather before God and cry out with a loud voice, “salvation belongs to our God!” Not only did Jesus have a vision of what he wanted his followers to achieve, he also gave us a strategy to achieve it. Join us today to learn Jesus’ strategy for ethnic unity in the body of Christ!

FAMILY FOR REAL
JOHN 17:20-23 NIV
I pray also for those who will believe in me . . . that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. . . . I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
CHRIST’S VISION: THAT WE WOULD BE ONE IN HIM.
JOHN 13:34-35
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
MATTHEW 22:37-39
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.
OUR MISSION: BRING PEOPLE AND GOD TOGETHER IN LOVE
LUKE 10:25-34
On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
“What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”
He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”
But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
Then Jesus answered, “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.
But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was.
And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him. . . .”
WE APPROACH THE PAIN THAT OTHERS AVOID.
Colossians 3:12 NIV
[A]s God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
1 Peter 3:8 NIV
[A]ll of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.
Romans 12:15-16 NIV
Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another.
LUKE 10:33
So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

LUKE 10:34-35
On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’
WE PURSUE WHOLENESS WHEREVER THERE’S BEEN HARM.

REVELATION 7:9-10 NIV
I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”
