Nia is a quiet, thoughtful young lady who secretly has feelings and emotions. One day, she discovers that a colleague, Silas, is also developing feelings and emotions. Soon they start hooking up, which really complicates things at their workplace and in the emotionless utopian community they live in known as The Collective. When hiding their feelings become too much, Nia and Silas consider running away together into the unknown. When The Collective announces a cure for the “disease” of emotions, Nia and Silas put their plan into action – but it’s soon derailed by the revelation that Nia is pregnant. Nia escapes the clutches of the medical authorities thanks to the help of a few others who also have feelings, but she’s mistakenly believed by Silas to dead. When they finally reunite, Silas has been given the cure, with only a few hours left to be himself with Nia. They decide to continue with their escape plan, leaving The Collective for an uncertain future together.
