Episode 113 Matt Hickman-BrownBear
Episode 113 is with musician Matt Hickman better known as Brown Bear. I connected with Matt online two years ago, so it was great to finally record this conversation as we touched on quite a lot during this episode including how this all started for Matt, the current climate of the Scottish music industry, being a musician of colour in Scotland and the importance of identity and culture, and staying true to yourself.
Having spoken to Matt on a few occasions over the past two years you clearly get a sense that his an individual who's not doing this just for himself but is also looking at ways he can support others in the music industry as well. Episode 112 Constantine Zeus and Emiliy-Rose Jazz Mafia Project Vol.2
Episode 112 is with Constantine Zeus and his writing partner Emiliy-Rose. Constantine first featured on the podcast back in 2018 on episode 13 so it was great to get a catch up with him after all this time.
During our conversation I found out more about how Constantine and Emiliy-Rose met and began to work with each other on the Jazz Mafia Project Volume 2, and how this was developed into a touring exhibition along with a reflection of their individual practices and plans for for collaborative projects.
It was great to catch up with Constantine after all this time and also getting to meet Emily Rose as well, so thanks to them both for coming on the podcast and sharing their time with us. Jahday Ford North Lands Creative (Collect2022)
In our third and final episode in partnership with North Lands Creative featuring artists participating in this year's #Collect2022 International Art Fair for Modern Craft and Design. I sat down with artist Jahday Ford who is based in Manchester.
Jahday's work specialises in hot glass and mould design. Using the combination of glass blowing and digital design the materiality of his glass objects changes radically, effectively bonding these two diverse fields. It was great to have the chance to sit down with Jahday to discuss his artistic journey from growing up in Bermuda and how he continues to challenge himself as an artist.

Te Rongo Kirkwood North Lands Creative (Collect 2022)
In our second episode in partnership with North Lands Creative featuring artists participating in this year's

DISTANCE2 Episode 1 (AAS)
In partnership with Applied Arts Scotland Creative Me Podcast brings you a four part series of podcasts with participants involved in The DISTANCE Project (Digital Immersive Technologies and Craft Engagement) which is a multi-stage project that offers makers opportunities to collaborate and to share experiences and objects in new and exciting ways through immersive digital technologies.
DISTANCE builds on the makers experiences of supporting international, cross-cultural residencies and the Scottish making community, including throughout lockdown periods during the global pandemic of 2020-21. It also supports our aims to promote sustainable making practices.
Throughout these conversations I spoke with a variety of participants from the craft and making community who took part in the DISTANCE Project and exploring their initial motivations to get involved in the project and how this has influenced their personal and professional development. Citymoves Dance Live Festival 2021- Fleur Darkin
We have partnered up with citymoves for the Dance Live Festival again to bring you a couple of podcast episodes with some of this year's performers. For today's episode I sat down with choreographer and performer Fleur Darkin. Episode 100 Check In
So here it is the official 100th episode of Creative Me Podcast. I thought I'd record a mini pod to reflect not only on the podcast, but also the friendships and other opportunities and experiences this has led me to over the years. You'll notice that on our episode list that two part episodes count as one, hence why this is the "official" 100th episode, strange thinking I know 😅
On the 5th November I would have been doing this for four years. And to be honest I'm trying to figure out where that time has gone. Having a full time job, being a parent and husband, and pursuing a creative path out with all of this hasn't been easy. There have been times when I've questioned if all of this was feasible in the long term. But you have continued to support my efforts on various fronts and I absolutely appreciate this as this keeps me going.

Glass Lives Week - Choi Keeryong
Our final conversation in the Glass Lives Week podcasts is with Choi Keeryong who is a glass artist and lecturer originally from South Korea who has been residing in Edinburgh for fourteen years. Choi was initially studying fine art in Korea before he became interested in working with glass. We spoke about how his experiences living and working in Scotland has influenced his work and how this creates a sense of being between belonging and not belonging. And the hope that his work creates further conversation with the viewer.

Glass Lives Week - Jessamy Kelly
Our fifth episode in Glass Lives Week is with glass artist and lecturer Jessamy Kelly who is based in Edinburgh who works in kiln glass combined with ceramics. During the episode we discussed her early influences and her initial interest in ceramics which subsequently changed once she developed an interest and connection in working with glass. We also spoke about how she developed a career in education. And with twenty years of experience Jessamy has been able to transfer her skills and knowledge to educate a new generation of artists.

Glass Lives Week - Hannah Gibson
We continue the conversation in the Glass Lives Week with Hannah Gibson who specialises in casting glass. A geologist originally from North Wales who has been residing in Scotland for a number of years Hannah’s work is very much rooted in sustainability and working with recycled glass. We also discussed the process involved with casting onto small lego figures which Hannah sees as an universally identifiable object that creates immediate connection and conversation.

So I had a nice little chat with Shane Strachan and Kate Steenhauer about their upcoming multidisciplinary performance called The Shelter. You may have heard or seen posts on social media about this interesting piece that draws on real life conversations from local bus stops. We speak about how the idea for this performance came about, and the process involved that will hopefully have the audience engaged in the day to day lives of Aberdeen’s residents.

Shirin spoke with me about coming from a creative family, where her love for drawing animal characters came from, how the North East and the rest of Scotland has responded to her work, and receiving a visual artist and craft makers award in 2017.

After a short break we are back with a new Creative Me Podcast episode featuring artist Jenny Hood. I first met Jenny back in 2016 and not 2006 as I clumsily state in the intro. We talk about the Sustaining Life As A Creative Programme we participated in with the Creative Learning Team and it’s long lasting positive effects on us both as creatives.

Elane Colville is the owner of The Vintage Closet shop in Aberdeen, we sat down to talk about how Elane came to be the owner of the closet. The shop having it's own personality, working with and supporting students in Aberdeen and being open to learn from the older and younger generations.
Elane also reflects on a couple nice stories about customers she has encountered over the years, and the importance of having an army of customers who have a wealth of knowledge. We also speak about embracing your individuality, and making social media work for you and her work ethic.
