James Neal, the Powerplay, and a chat with Kris Versteeg
It’s a lovely Friday afternoon in the capital city and that means a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio is here, edited into a masterpiece, and ready to massage your ear feelings as you head into the weekend. This week, we broke down the rollercoaster first couple of weeks for the Oilers, looked around the North Division, and spoke to former NHLer Kris Versteeg about the start of the season, Oilers jerseys, McDavid, and a lot more. To kick things off, we jumped into today's podcast with a look at Mikko Koskinen's start to the season and how he's performed as the de facto starter with Mike Smith still on the shelf. Seeing as Koskinen will be the guy for the Oilers in the short term, we all believe that he can do the job and be an effective starter for this team but also think that there is room for improvement. Sticking with the lineup, we broke down Zack Kassian's early-season struggles and tried to figure what's going on with #44 and why he doesn't seem to look like the same guy that signed that contract extension towards the tail end of the season. We also looked at the swap that will happen for tonight's rematch against the Leafs as Dave Tippett is swapping James Neal in for Alex Chiasson, which is a move that we all hope will improve the powerplay. In an effort to make sense of this wild season, Kris Versteeg joined the show to talk about what's going on here in Edmonton, including some shots at the dark blue jerseys, the nonsense Connor McDavid has to put up with on a nightly basis, favourites from around the league, and a whole lot more.

Oilers talk, David Arrigo, and Scott Hastings from OddsShark
Another Thursday is upon us which means a brand new episode of the Real Life Podcast is here to help you close out the week and get you amped up for the weekend. This week, the guys looked at the Oilers early-season struggles, artist David Arrigo, and spoke to Scott Hastings from OddsShark to break down the latest news from the world of sports gambling.   To kick off today’s show, the boys got started with a look at the Oilers up-and-down record and what it's been like to ride the rollercoaster so far in the schedule. Seeing as the boys pulled out a big win last night in Toronto, the guys explored the boring style of play they ran with against Toronto and whether or not it matters if the games are boring provided that the wins follow. The boys also looked at Zack Kassian's play of late and wondered what's the cause of his lack of intensity. It can't just be the lack of fans, can it? Either way, everyone on the podcast feels that there's a lot more there for him to offer. Next up, the guys were thrilled to welcome artist David Arrigo ( to the show to talk about the goalie mask he painted for Mike Smith and where the inspiration came from for this unique design. From the original concept to the completed work, it was fascinating to hear David tell the story about how these masks come together and what the process looks like when putting one together. Lastly, the guys wrapped up today’s podcast by welcoming Scott Hastings from OddsShark to help break down the latest betting trends from the NFL, and the latest news in the world of sports.
