Target Audience
This activity is targeted toward internal medicine, family medicine and primary care specialties that provide primary care to patients with seizures and/or epilepsy.
Statement of Need
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the top cancer-related deaths in the US, yet it is has been documented that implementing the latest screening protocols can reduce the incidence and mortality of CRC. In that most colon tumors develop in stages, screening can detect early-stage precancerous polyps before they become cancerous. Therefore it is critical for physicians to understand the latest screening protocols and recommendations for CRC.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
- List the risk factors for colorectal cancer.
- Understand the stages of colorectal disease development.
- Discuss the latest screening guidelines for colorectal cancer.
- Describe the different colorectal screening / diagnostic tools and indications.
